[Report] Nathan Beaulieu requests trade

He hasn't gotten arrested since that time in 2013 in Ontario.  Other than that, he's just been under-performing.  The Sabres overpaid for him hoping that they could turn his on-ice performance around.  It didn't happen.

May 2017 via google translate:  Beaulieu committed unforgivable mistakes for a professional athlete. He reached the National League, but he forgot to make the leap into the world of responsible adults.  When you accept a contract, there are responsibilities that come with it. Beaulieu has forgotten them in the back of the drawer.

If that terrible translation is trying to say that he was/is a french Canadian d-bag, it's not wrong.  He and his father were convicted of assault when he was a prospect and his father was running the Sarnia Sting.

Nothing to do with Sarnia.

Definitely if I was GMJB I’d be calling it wouldn’t cost much to get him he was really good in MTL not sure what went on this last year with him change of scenery might help

I've always thought he was underrated.

Just never seemed to get much of an opportunity.

He's a poor fit in both systems that he played in.  Both Montreal and the Sabres play a fast paced 5-man attack based system.  The Canucks have a slower paced more deliberate system.  He'd likely do better for the Canucks, especially in a contract year.  The Canucks could use that to their advantage and then send him on his way after the season if he looks for too much money.

Nope.  It happened at a party.  They got drunk and stupid.  His father was the GM and coach of Sarnia at the time.  They fired him shortly after.

The incidents the Journal de Montreal is referring to has nothing to do with those charges with his father.  It's about his time with Montreal the couple of seasons leading to his trade.

He got scratched for game 6 of the playoffs and some of media suggested that it was for an off-ice incident without disclosing what it was.  The one that did make the titles was that incident where him and Thomas got caught drunk in the middle of the night - Thomas got shipped out a few days later although Therrien insisted it had nothing to do with that but media was not buying it.

It wouldn't be surprising.  He's behaved himself here though.  He never made a peep during the off-season or during either active season.  It's probably one of the reasons why he wants a trade.  His past isn't going to win him a contract so he needs to play in order to pique interest.

Well, Green likes to play a pretty aggressive forecheck, so, so long as he can skate well and move the puck up he'll be fine.

He'll skate fine and move the puck, but he'll need to get it to a forward as soon as he crosses the red line because he's proven that getting into open shooting lanes and getting the puck on net isn't his strong suit.

He'll come more in handy back in his own zone since he has no other choice the rest of this season than to play his butt off if he wants to put himself in a good spot for his next contract after this season is over.  He can do that in Vancouver's system better than in Montreal's or the Sabres.  There's nobody to help you hide and compensate for your deficiencies in a full on attacking system.

We really just need a 3rd pairing guy that can get the puck out of his own zone.

He's very cheap, he's in a contract year, and he's a former first rounder.  He isn't any worse than what the Canucks currently have in the lowest pairing.  Downside is he's a french Canadian d-bag with a d-bag father.

He's good for a possible Canucks run for the playoffs and then he can be kicked to the curb.

Thinking he's good for short term until Joulevi and Hughes get here.
