Canucks didn't beat St Louis with physicality. They played their skilled game. Problem is we're trying to beat Vegas playing their style. Roussel lit a fire under Lehner and Reaves with his antics, which I understand is his game but now the team is paying the price for his actions and our team isn't built to play that physical style. We didn't lose tonight cause we "got pushed around." We lost cause our team had way too damn many turnovers and our goalie wasn't his usual self. If Marky doesn't stand on his head this team gets clapped. Sedin era team passed the puck too much, current era team can't make clean passes to save their life. Except Petey and Hughes.

If we can get them both for 16-17 mil I'd say that's a huge win. Preferably both on 8 year deals. Aho's deal is a 5 year deal and expires at the earliest opportunity to become a UFA. Which means they didn't buy any of his UFA years. I'd prefer we either sign until the final year of RFA or give the maximum 8 year term. Chabot's contract for Hughes would be a massive steal for us. 8x8 is great value for Hughes who is arguably a top 3-5 D-man right now.

Sad part is he may never be the same. We were worried about one shoulder injury with Jake. Tarasenko has had two or three now. So he may never quite be that prolific scorer he was. Unless he finds other ways to score. With his size and speed he may still score a good amount of goals. But his shot is likely never gonna be quite as good. Which sucks, without these injuries he has all the tools and skill to be a 50+ goal scorer.

Trading Virtanen for another Virtanen. Seems like a nothing move. Unless we have insider information that Jake is a problem in the locker room or something. Besides we are quite loaded on that left side. So from that standpoint it's a step backward.
