People have been criticizing Jake though saying he's invisible. Which was really the only thing I was saying. It was a good win. The studs came to play, Marky looked great. Just making note of why Jake has looked invisible thus far. His game isn't predicated around physicality. He has physical aspects, but that's not the crux of his game. If you want the best outta Jake he needs to at least be back at his regular 13-14 minutes a game he was getting in the regular season. BUT shortening the bench has been working so I am fine staying status quo, I just hope the ultra critical fans keep in mind that Jake isn't getting the same looks he was getting in the regular season before they start to criticize him.

He's getting sub 10 minutes. Hard to do anything with no ice time. Big Mac has borderline looked invisible, but I know it's not cause he's bad or anything but because he's not being utilized. Greener has shortened his bench to the stud top 6, and the safe vet bottom 6ers (Sutter, Beagle, and Motter). People say, "Jake is invisible, haven't seen him." Well it's not hard to tell why, he's not even playing.

Sad thing is we did acquire that player, but unfortunately his head may have been rattled one too many times. Ferland was looking really good.

TT wouldn't technically be a Free Agency signing though. So this doesn't necessarily mean the team won't try bring him back.

At this point this guy just really dislikes Benning and it doesn't matter what you say. As has been stated forever we are not in cap hell. We can and will sign all our kids. Losing Toffoli and even Markstrom will not derail this team. Lol. Our cap situation is very much solid. Our bottom 6 is overpaid, but Roussel and Beagle will expire in 2 seasons, Sutter expires next season. We have 3.3mil coming off the books next summer in Baer and Spooner, with Sutter's 4.4 and Pearson's 3.7, if need be, we'll more than be able to re-sign Huges and Petey. Especially if we elect to run Demko next season in the event Marky's ask goes above 6mil per. The only contracts that make me uneasy are Ferland and Eriksson's. We can survive em though in all honesty.

Really the only good thing about TSN is Bobby Mac. Guy is a hockey treasure.

Toronto's problem wasn't what they paid their RFAs, it was targeting Tavares. Or at least making the promise that they'd be keeping Marner, Nylander and Matthews together as well as signing Tavares. If they don't give Tavares 11mil that's 11mil that can be spent on a blueline. Sad thing is, Nylander has the best contract and is likely the one on the way out. Nylander for Risto almost has to happen. He's not great defensively but he's good for 35+ points, 22ish minutes a game, and is a much needed physical presence. Long story short is building your team around 4 one way scoring forwards and a good goalie isn't the way to go.

Fanta is a UFA, not getting anything for him. Same with Leivo, nobody will even trade a late round pick to negotiate with him early. Ferland and Eriksson are untradable unless you want to part with a 1st rounder next year. Even then I doubt anyone touches 3 years of Ferland who has nothing left to give. Two years of Eriksson is gonna cost at least what getting rid of Marleau cost Toronto. That's a dream trade too considering it cost them a 1st rounder for 1 year of Marleau. Eriksson has 2 seasons left. Good luck convincing anyone to take that for a 1st rounder alone, and honestly I don't want to move a 1st rounder alone for him. Let alone adding.

A better all around team compared to Minnie, I'm excited to see how it unfolds. You wanna test your kids against the best, who better than the most recent champs?

With Ferland's concussion history Benning never should have signed Ferland to a contract with so much term. Love Benning, but you don't need a crystal ball to see why Ferland was not signing anywhere else. Other GMs were likely put off by his concussion history.

Are you Brackett's mom? He's gone, it's okay. Drafting didn't really get good til a few years after Brackett's promotion btw. When Benning started overhauling the scouts. But keep pretending Brackett did literally everything.

Defending champs. Test our kids against a group that knows what it takes to win.

I do not wanna see a blueline with Barrie and Myers on two different pairs and less so together. Our defense is garbage enough as is in their own zone.

Scheifele's injury was a freak injury, and Ferland's injury is due to his history. If anything the covid break shoulda helped his case. Besides, injuries are nature of the business in playoffs. The alternative is no games of any kind and the league goes under. Pretty sure even the players aren't on board for that.

The one bright spot of game 1. Shame he has had such rotten concussion luck. Would be nice if he just retired but that's alotta money to walk away from.

Ferland is done. Just walk away from the game.

A lot of what I wanted in game 1 we got in game 2. Maybe I knew something Greener didn't know for game 1. All jokes aside, really happy with the results here. Jake had a great game, Petey battled hard. Love that he isn't getting pushed around and just taking it. Got that bite to his game. This is why he was so good in the SHL playoffs. The biggest thing this team is missing, is that Hamhuis/Bieksa D combo. This team terrifies me in the final moments of a game. We don't have a shutdown pair that'll help close out a game for you. People remember Edler/Ehrhoff from that 2011 team, but boy was Hamhuis and Bieksa just brutal for opposing teams to play against. Tanev is good defensively but he's no Hamhuis or Bieksa. That's on top of the fact he's the only truly great defensive D-man we have. Long story short, good game. Not so good finish. Lets hope Minnie doesn't carry over the momentum going into next game.
