  1. Linden hired Benning. The Aqualini's hired Linden.
  2. There are not many players better than Theodore.
  3. Anderson is worth a lot more than Virtanen and will likely get an contract around 4m if not more.
  4. Trotz signed a 4 year deal with Washington worth 6m and it had a clause extend him with a 300k raise if he won the Stanley Cup. After he signed that Babcock got 50m from The Leafs, 6.25m per year, and then Quenville, Julien, AV all got massive contracts averaging 4-6m. So coaches used to make about 1.5m until The Leafs came in and decided to give Babcock 50m.
  5. Don't like this call felt like it was chopped at and not really shot out of play.
  6. I think Benning wants to sign him to a 2-3 year deal. The way he talked was like the cap is going to flat for the next 2 years and we can work something out with him to pay him maybe a little more for shorter term and that way if he does get taken in the expansion draft he's on a shorter term and not stuck in Seattle. I think it's really risky for Markstrom though if someone is offering him 7 years 7-8m which I think is what Buffalo would be offering him. I got that impression anyways.
  7. Eriksson can at least penalty kill and do things defensively well. With Ryan he can really only play in the top 6 and he is slow. Eriksson probably has more value here and if we did trade for Ryan with the amount of money owed to Ryan there would have to be a first round pick coming back otherwise nope.
  8. what do you expect him to be a top 4 dman? For what he is he played exceptionally well. You couldn't ask for anything more..
  9. Mackinnon already stated he will take less again Makar is not going to get 10m a year. This idea that Hughes and Makar and these other young players are going to get these ridiculous contracts is just that ridiculous. Zadarov is unlikely to get re-signed and definitely would not get re-signed if they brought in a top 4 dman. Covid will still be here next year when these new wave of contracts need to be signed so you will likely see cheap contracts like is expected this FA once again. Not only that but Mackinnon contract doesn't expire until 2023-24, same time Johnson's expires. That is 12.3m in cap space that can be used for Mackinnon and your D would still have Girard, Makar and (insert Pietrangelo or OEL)... That is still crazy deep. Way deeper than they are now and they are legit threat to win the cup right now if they get some D and a goaltender. It's not about making sure you have cap space to sign some role players it's about winning a cup.. and Colorado has plenty of cap space to easily do this. We aren't talking about signing Eriksson here but about landing a number 1 dman..
  10. They have Girard too who is a LHD so they could have OEL Makar and the Johnson Girard as their top 4 and then I would go out and sign a guy like Markstrom or Lehner to shore up their goaltending issues and they should be a legit stanley cup threat.
  11. almost everyone on their roster has a NTC they will need to move a pretty difficult contract to be able to offer him 8m+ and they might not want to give him a full nmc which he clearly wants.
  12. yea I edited my post didn't realize capspace change their season over to next year already. but still the next 2 years they have 40m+ which is more than enough for them to land some FA or make some trades like OEL.
  13. they have 40m in cap and at least another 7.5m coming off the year after so they have plenty of space to sign multiple big free agents to big deals. My bad capspace has already changed their season over 22m in cap space and another 20m coming off the books next year so they have more than enough cap space
  14. If 8 million is all he cost? It absolutely would be. You are getting 4-5 years at least of a bonafide number 1 dman on your blue-line. Those guys are incredibly hard to draft let alone sign and then to sign to a very cap friendly contract... almost unheard of. 4-5 years the cap will be back up and signing guys to long term discount contracts they never would have signed will pay huge dividends.
  15. I haven't seen the official CBA but from what I have read from other articles it was only for clauses that hadn't kicked in yet which made sense to me. The player isn't involved in that process at all.
  16. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2020/07/examining-some-major-cba-changes.html NMC/NTC: No-move or no-trade clauses that have been included in contracts but have not yet kicked in will remain even if a player is traded. In 2016, the Montreal Canadiens traded P.K. Subban to the Nashville Predators just a few days before his no-trade clause was set to begin. Under the old rules, the Predators had the choice of whether to honor that clause or not. They decided not to (Predators GM David Poile is notorious for not including no-trade clauses in most of his own deals) and subsequently traded Subban to the New Jersey Devils a few years later. A player isn't waving that contract they haven't kicked in yet I do not think anything has changed when a player waives their NTC which should still void it.
  17. I am not 100% sure but I don't think he is entirely right on that. I think the NTC/NMC staying is for cases like JT Miller who signed a new contract that had a NTC but Tampa traded him a few weeks before it kicked in so we did not have to honour that NTC but now if you trade a player right before their NTC kicks in it still kicks in on the new team. That is how it should work really if a player took less money for a NTC. If they waive their NTC I am pretty sure its void from that point on.
  18. Cam had a decent game. His arm didn't look pretty good but they are going to need to get a lot better next week to beat Seattle.
  19. Kassian has not flourished elsewhere. When did scoring 30 points become flourishing and that's while playing with Connor McDavid. He is literally playing no different than he did when he was with Vancouver, he is still completely useless.
  20. Hall isn't in decline at all. He has an outlier season where he was incredibly and then has gone back to his just under ppg pace. He still possesses the ability to have another great season. He has speed, skill and goal scoring ability, he is definitely worth whatever he is going to be paid. He was going to get overpaid before but now he should come in a a pretty decent cap hit.
  21. If Toffoli gets 6m per year then we should have no interest in him. I would target Hall who expects to be getting far less than he would pre-covid. You can probably get Hall for 7 x 7.5m
  22. Fleury is still a capable goalie and a team like Colorado could take a shot at him for scraps.. They could probably get Fleury for future considerations. No one will want Eriksson unless they are getting something valuable with him.
  23. aside from his stint with vancouver his numbers were steadily declining since 2014 and I think he would have gotten around what he gets now and with COVID I can see him getting 4m per year. He is not getting 6m a year unless he wants to go to like Buffalo.
