Such a brilliant comment:
I enjoy scanning youtube comments, when listening to old favs. Feels like meeting true soul-mates. Saw this one tonite...
"No era will come close to the beautiful musical diversity of the 70's.I can't believe how it's all gone. This song causes my mind to roll on...seeing so many wonderful memories. I feel so bad for the youth today. Trying to explain the 70's would be like explaining colour to a blind man. God bless all."
This is so true.

@Twilight Sparkle, yet how many "youth" have never heard of the Beatles, Hendrix, Dylan, or fill in the blank? Maybe it might be my age, but I don't get today's stuff, especially the glorified Kareoke.

The best of times, was the mid to late 60's. The early Beatles, then the real Beatles transformed music. All of those bands, usually said that Elvis was their inspiration, I guess he was, but I have always said, the Beatles were the kings of it all. Timeless tunes, that everyone knows right away when heard. I, for the life of me, cannot stand any of the new stuff on the airwaves. When I'm in my car, I always have Classic Vinyl on Sirius, vinyl was the best as well.

@chon derry, thank you so much for the update on ShakyWalton. I really enjoyed his knowledge of baseball, I'm a White Sox fan, and of course music. We're close to the same age, so his appreciation of 60's, and 70's music was a lot of fun on this board. I knew he once was a dj, but didn't know it involved play by play. I once asked @Vintage Canuckif he knew what had happened to our friend as well. He, too was puzzled. So sorry to hear of this, and thanks for sharing with us on this board. We all might disagree on many things, on many topics, and on many peoples personalities on this board, but, this is a great forum to get things off our chests.

Oh Lions, sigh.

Anyone ever catch hand-foot-mouth disease before? Any tips for relief from the blister pain??
-
I had never heard of this before, until my wife contracted it this Spring. It turns out, almost all of our neighbourhood had someone they know, who contracted this disease. She went to her Doctor, and he actually recoiled when he saw the inside of her mouth. It went away after about a week. See your Doctor though, they can give you a prescription for it.

The Beatles in Hamburg yrs...
That's probably where the Canucks are, right about now. Just before the plane REALLY takes off.
Maybe they should all grow mop-tops, act corny, & change arena title to The Cavern Club!
Y/N?

A big middle finger to anyone involved in MLM.
This happened a few years ago. My best friend (and his fiancé) invited me to Portland for a business opportunity, with most expenses paid. Everything but food. I was going to be on reading break from school, so I figured it would be atleast a fun weekend, even though I didn’t know why I was going there. Free trip, and I was young and stupid. Turned out to be a Amway affiliated event. World Wide Dream Builders. Probably 15,000 people were at the event? They filled the building where the winter hawks play. The event was just these people giving motivational speeches.
I felt uncomfortable at first, because the speakers are all people who’ve had success in the business. So their stories are going to be appealing... that’s the point... Just a little harmless brainwashing.
Then on night 1, a bunch of people that my friend knew, got together for some late night cult therapy. Talked about “our” feelings of life... everyone was completely sober... talked about our dreams, and finally the opinions of the brainwashing that happened earlier. Oh! And we each had to say something we learned that day... night 2 we drove around forever trying to find this very specific restaurant that the “diamonds” were eating at. Couldn’t find them, thank god. I made the best of the weekend and had a good time for what it was.
Anyways, unethical business having a huge get together in which my best friend and his fiancé had to pay hundreds of dollars to pay for themselves and myself to go. We were young, so that was a lot of money. I politely declined to join their pyramid scheme, and thanked them for the weekend. There was significant friction over me not wanting to be involved. I ended up paying for my hotel room and half the gas money. Probably would have had to pay for the event ticket if it wasn’t given to them for free.
He changed considerably after that trip. Started hanging out with these superficial guys, who could not be anymore stereotypical MLM bros. His life revolved around this business even though he was a college graduate who could be doing legitimate work. We grew apart, and our friendship pretty much ended after his wedding. The final straw was when his gift to the groomsmen was “1 Free” anything from their “store”. Forcing me to contribute to this bologna.
Lost my best friend of nearly 15 years due to MLM. I don’t know what made me think of this again.
