After 13 seasons as GM of the Ottawa Senators, I have decided to step down to allow the team an opportunity to head in a new direction. I have been putting off this decision all summer because I wanted to find a way to continue but I have come to the realization that now is the right time. The league needs someone who is more active and doesn’t need to be checked in on. It’s been an awesome run since the start of the league but life has just gotten too busy as of late and I haven’t been able to keep up.
Looking back through the CDCGML Archives it’s pretty cool to see that I made the playoffs 11 straight years. I relied on my Hockey News Fantasy Guide to get me through the original draft back in 2009 and thought it was a good idea at the time to build my defence around Bryan McCabe and Sheldon Souray. Safe to say I had not yet grasped the strategy of drafting for longterm success in a keeper league but I figured it out by season 3. Special shout-out to Bryan Little, who has been an Senator since the original draft.
Thank you to all the original members, @canuck2xtreme, @Mike Vanderhoek, @Squeak, @lethunder, @theminister, and @arby18_ for 13 awesome years of fantasy hockey.
@da.moose, @Tony Romo, @Sergei Bobrovsky, @ThatMike,@aGENT and @Canuck Surfer it feels like you have all been here since the beginning as well and it’s been an absolute pleasure gentlemen.
And to the rest of the GMs, thanks for all the good chats and fun negotiations. Best of luck to everyone this season!
Sincerely,
WinterhawksDang.. sucks to see you go .. I hope you find the time to come back in the future

DEFENSE (8): Calen Addison, Sebastian Aho, Brent Burns (A), Connor Clifton, Derek Forbort, Daniil Miromanov, Neal Pionk, Mikhail Sergachev
GOALTENDERS (2): Joel Hofer, Juuse Saros
RFAs (4): Mason Appleton, Dakota Joshua, John Marino, Niko Mikkola
CUTS (14): Victor Berglund, Declan Chisholm, Grigori Denisenko (RFA), Adam Edstrom, Ben Harpur, Brady Keeper, Mats Lindgren, Viktor Lodin, Tyler Pitlick, Ivan Prosvetov (RFA), Sheldon Rempal, Antonio Stranges, Riley Sutter, Lassi Thomson
INJURED (2): Max Pacioretty, Alex Alexeyev
Training Camp notes: Cuts have been made, RFAs deals are still being worked on and F Patric Hornqvist has returned to Nashville via waivers. Patric was dealt in the trade deadline during the retool days of the past. The training camp roster now stands with 25 players with 15 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goalies. This does not include the 4 remaining RFAs that GM SB is still working to extend. GM SB refused to provide an update on the Predators remaining RFAs which also include F Grigori Denisenko and G Ivan Prosvetov, but Tennessee media is reporting that talks are close between the GM and the remaining players that still need contracts. Shifting the focus now from off the ice and onto the ice, forwards Mark Kastelic and Fredrik Olofsson, defensemen Calen Addison and Daniil Miromanov and goaltender Joel Hofer are the remaining prospects who have made it through the first round of cuts which saw 14 other players be assigned to their new homes for the upcoming hockey season. "The team has not had an injection of graduated youth within the past couple of years like it is used to, we have changed our focus in development and drafting to make improvements in our developmental system so that we can continue to have a consistent internal annual graduation of prospects. We don't ever want to rebuild or retool ever again. Those days are over." was the only news worthy quote GM SB had provided to the media earlier today. By his response, it is obvious that the GM has been impressed by the prospects performance in training camp. The previously mentioned group of RFAs are however also slated to make the main-roster, so stay tuned for the club's second update as the the prospects have one last pre-season game to impress to make the main-roster.
Another thing that was news worthy tonight was Max Pacioretty, who is currently recovering from torn achilles, was seen outside of the locker room after today's session waiting at the exit to shake the hands of all 14 players who were cut from camp. He was doing this while dawning the letter A on his blue and gold sweater.

This includes Lias Andersson, Adam Edstrom, Brock McGinn, Fredrik Olofsson, Tomas Nosek, Sebastian Aho and Mats Lindgren who are new to the organization after being acquired in the off-season via free agency, trade and the recent Entry draft. The new group of players were introduced today by a collection of 4 veteran players which is now being reported to be the new leadership group of the Nashville Predators. Head coach John Hynes told reporters this morning that the team will be making the identity of the group public as training camp moves along. The coach also went on to say that this year's training camp will be seeing a mix of movements in cuts and late invitees as the club still works to iron out deals for 6 qualified restricted free agents. Hynes refused to comment when being asked if there were any more free agent signings being worked on who we could eventually see make their way to camp as it is being reported by Tennessee media.
Defeceman Brent Burns was seen leaving the ice early as today's session heads to a close this afternoon. Expecting some news or announcement, the media migrated from the rink to the locker room to get an update on Burns. Along the way to the locker room is Bridgestone arena's conference hall that is currently set up with a microphone and a chair that has Brent Burns' #88 jersey dawning the letter 'A', signaling that Burns will be announced here shortly as part of the new leadership group as an official alternate captain for the club.

I would like some clarification on the status of contracts here and the NHL.
I sent in an offer for this player a few days back.
According to NHL rules he is limited to a one year contract being 26 and over.
When I made my offer, 1 year, I asked for clarification on this and have not heard back.
This is the second time I have made an offer on player new to the league coming from Europe who is 26 and over.
Last offer I made was 3 years and that's where I thought I got it wrong.
Am I right about the length of contracts in the NHL in regards to this and if so are they different in this league ?
According to our CBA there is no distinction on how much term you can offer a UFA coming from Europe regardless of age.
If the original agent you contacted has not responded to your offer/message, you are free to transfer it to a different agent of your choice. This goes for all GMs. If it helps @Ilunga majority of the signings I am getting to at the moment have all been agreed to last month.

CDCGML 2022 - 23
in Fantasy Hockey
Posted · Edited by Sergei Bobrovsky
Prague, Czech Republic
It is puck drop tonight in Prague, Czech Republic as the Nashville Predators takes part in opening up the league's first game of the 2022-23 season. Prospects Mark Kastelic, Calen Addison and Daniil Miromanov have made it all this way throughout training camp this off-season and can now finally say they have made the main roster. Unrestricted free agent goalie Thomas Greiss was also acquired during the last bits of training camp to claim the back up role behind starting netminder Juuse Saros. Forward Nikita Kucherov was heard to be as rowdy as ever in the team's locker room prior to hitting the ice for warmups. This can be explained by Kucherov appearing later on the ice today with the letter 'A' on his chest. And look at that, Kuch's hype just got the team a goal!
With the last alternate captain now named, it is very likely that the captain for the Nashville Predator's 2022-23 season is set to be Aleksander Barkov. Head coach John Hynes had confirmed to Czech media that the club has indeed named center Aleksander Barkov as team captain. Things have gone full circle here in Nashville as the last time the club had a captain was when Jaromir Jagr still played in North America. At the time, Jaromir as captain had played with Barkov in his early twenties and now gets the opportunity to watch him play on the ice as captain in his home country. Both Jaromir and Alex bumped into each other before the game and after a bit of chatter, had agreed to delay Barkov from wearing the C today so that they can officially do a transferal of captaincy ceremony for the Preds' home opener.
