  1. Not sure we could get K’Andre Miller under the cap. He is very, very good. That would be fun. One of Podz or LaF would have to develop into a decent top 6 PF. Great looking spot next to EP and Kuz.
  2. Man, it is amazingly quiet around the Canucks last few days. Not a sniff of anything happening. The package that Simashev represents. Big amazing 4 way mobility and a nasty streak. Even if he handles the puck like a hand grenade that is a useful piece. If you are drafting a winger this high in this draft I just don’t think there is a guy other than Michkov that is worth taking the risk. Especially given the needs of the NHL team and the prospect pool.
  3. Oh helpful a player analysis based solely on counting stats. He is bigger, faster and makes things happen at a high rate. More suited to a depth role than these two and is a decent complimentary winger in the top 6 when needed.
  4. Remember the mandate is playoffs now. rotating wingers into centre ice and having depth d rotate into the top 4 is a great formula for tanking. mid we can’t make any significant trades we will overpay a lot for Barbashev and some depth D in UFA market.
  5. 21 of 32 teams have made moves. yeah we are impatient. But yeah some of that surgery needs to be cutting, moving out players and their contracts which is something this group has had a tough time doing.
  6. We have 2 NHL defenceman and Myers. We have a mandate to make playoffs ASAP at whatever the cost. Any NHL D man will be a target with whatever money we have. Dumba is redundant with Hronek but NHL defenceman and prospects are something we are sorely lacking in.
  7. Will say this every time they release the schedule. End the regional blackouts. Living in Ontario there are many nights I can watch every game that is on but the Canucks. They are archaic and meant for a system that no longer is the dominant form of delivery. Broadcasting the Canucks in Ontario is not going to hurt the Leafs or Senators.
  8. It is easy to always say BPA. Think we should really be thinking best asset available. The idea that if the pieces don’t fit if you have BPA you can trade them. We have seen the incredible disparity in the value of winger compared to C or D. A winger that isn’t one of the elite, elite has essentially no value or negative if on a contract with term that isn’t bargain basement. We need C and D in the prospect pool desperately, we need C and D in the NHL desperately. We will draft Benson. We are Canurcks.
  9. Looks like no thing tonight Maybe tomorrow we thing before the thing.
  10. Even the Flames. Nice pickup by Jersey. They may need to start playing with 2 pucks in NJ. Can they afford him? I really like Sharangovich as a player. Big, fast makes things happen but not great scorer. Hate to see him go to Calgary.
  11. Probably means Domi goes to market again. (Please don't sign him, please don't sign him)
  12. 5 back to backs but only one at home. That doesn't seem fair.
  13. well then we have a boatload of options for him. Beau, Garland, Rathbone are all available for close to nothing, then there is every Defenceman that isn't a chaos giraffe.
  14. 1-7-1 October. Season done, get ready for the next coaching bump to sell season tickets. I know, I know, lets see how the offseason goes first.
  15. It would be such a waste if we squander the buyout flexibility on a couple UFAs and called it a day. Time to weaponize that cap. Let's actually use some of the tools at our disposal other than overpaying players for what they did for other teams.
  16. I want to see us: Take a 1 or 2 year LTIR contract. No chance of us accruing cap this year. Not likely to be that good a team next couple years and so not being able to go nuts at the deadline would be great. Get in on one of these cap strapped teams an weaponize our cap to shake a young D or C loose. Weaponize our cap to trade one of our wingers on a bad contract for a better C or D on a similarly bad contract. (ie a centre that makes 1-2 million more than should for a winger that makes 1-2 more). This was the Boeser for Johansen idea. Overpriced winger for overpriced centre that costs more. Use cap space to pay the position premium. Go after unsigned prospects and Euro UFAs like last year to get free prospects. Only go after UFAs on short, reasonable deals. Don't do what we know PA will do and sign Barbashev to a deal that is too long and too big only to discover he is really just another winger.
  17. Would need to be winger for winger which then begs the question why would they want one of our smaller, more expensive wingers.
  18. I just don't take the chance on a small winger who isn't a great skater with this high a pick. I think you can have too many of those and we do.
  19. Thought he was primarily winger on NJ but his FO% is terrible, like Aman terrible.
  20. If reasonable cost, solid vet on D with great experience. More than 2 years would seem foolish but squandering hard bought cap space on UFAs this offseason is generally foolish. Tough player to play against, we don't need more of that, we need some of that.
  21. We don't work that way. No rebuild as long as FA and JR are running the show. We may only have 2 NHL D men and 2 Centres but we are pushing all in for the playoffs. The coterie of Smurf wingers will carry us.
