Garland and next years first for Sanheim is not a bad deal. Not sure right for us where we are but getting $5M for three years off the wing is almost worth a first. Long contract for Sanheim though not terribly expensive.

That was written before July 1. Still remains true but management did a better job of cobbling lineup together with out long term crippling contracts. PK looks a lot better on paper. Team looks a little better on paper. Will see how shakes out, this team needs to be more than a little better than last year.

It is that or Pesce that make the most sense of what is clearly on trade market. Never know with Gibson available if Anaheim might want him but they seem to have a lot of what he brings. I guess SJ is another wild card.

Looking at club looks like still need a deal or two. Ideally seems like Myers but for me the biggest problem is the mix of wingers. Especially since will have 2 of Garland, Beau or Hogz in bottom six and not a really physical top 6. The added size of the D will help with just how small we are throughout the rest of the lineup but it is still concerning. I am a bit concerned with a 3rd line featuring Blueger and 4th with Aman and a stricter system that we will struggle to score consistently. PK should be better. PP should be okay with Hronek’s canon if he is healthy. Still some work needs to be done. Poor centre depth, poor size and not great speed on wings. Depending on D to play higher up the lineup than have historically. Is Blueger the next Tim Schaller? Still some concerns about the lineup that has lacked killer instinct and ability to win games that matter just getting some spackle and paint.

They telegraphed it pretty hard at end of season that would be Hughes. He has the shortest contract after EP signs this year and we have used the captaincy to try to entice players to stay before.

I like seeing Raty and Klimovich developing together in Abby. Think they probably need a season together and then look at more time in NHL next year. We really need Podz to step into top 6 role but that leaves our bottom six very small. Pearson helps can run Pearson-Blueger-Beau/Hogz/Garland. Guess you can sneak one more of the littles on the 4th line but still think we need to lose 2 teensy wingers of the three.

2 years from now seems the transition period for the new management group. OEL’s penalty balloons Boeser off the cap, Myers long gone. JL, D-Pettey will be getting first NA experience, Willander will likely be looking to turn pro. Raty and Klimovich should be in the middle of the transition to NHL from the AHL if things work out. Lots of youth and cost controlled potential players coming in when we need them most. JL pretty much assures Brock is gone when his contract is up if he makes it that long. For now they just seem to be patching things together with assorted odds and sods and hoping desperately that something fits and this bad team starts to click.

Haven’t seen enough of Blueger but was 5th C on Vegas so look at essentially as the latest version of Tim Schaller, Curtis Lazar, Dickinson etc. Defensive minded forward who played role well on other team and may or may not do well here. I liked Geekie when saw him, seemed to be good player that stepped up on expansion team. Whenever we played them thought, would like to see him with us. Still think we are a third line Right Shot centre short of a complete lineup and that we have a bad mix of tiny wingers in bottom six.

They are 8M over with 10M LTIR so 2M for goal. Just trade Nylander for Hellebuyck. We all know it makes sense for both.

Would take the Matt Murray LTIR for a pick. We won’t be getting any accrued cap this year with Poolman might as well. Problem is they need to do the same for Muzzin as well for it to really help them.

I would vote for both 2 and 3. I think just for the sake of turnover and the fact that Hogz is waiver exempt means we should move 2 of Brock, Beau and Garland. That certainly hasn’t changed by what we did this off-season so far. Any chance to trade Myers and replace him with a useful player I take if the cost isn’t too high. Still we should take an LTIR contract if a year. We aren’t in LTIR and unless something still up PA’s sleeve we are boarderline playoff team at best.

He came in and looked pretty good. Time to develop with all the signings this year. He will likely be an early call up this year. Will be in running for 3rd pairing in camp maybe.

Nice addition to bottom six. Would have been candidate for 3rd line C here.
