  1. Bjugstad has had serious problems with injuries the past few seasons. I would rather put Dickinson at 3C, and not getting Bjugstad.
  2. I remember the season he scored 11 goals for us. Was an exciting player--if you consider excitement almost having a heart attack. Congratulations on a career. Your time with us was memorable.
  3. Can anyone post a summary of the Johnson interview? I think he'd be a great pick. Not as boom or bust as some people think, because he actually tries to play defense. Like with Edvinsson, it depends on how coachable he is.
  4. Thought about it more, and trading down if the top 4 D are gone might not be a bad idea. There are a few centers we could target, including Svechkov, Johnson, Lucius, and L'Heureux. I'd still rather trade up for one of the top 4 D than trade down though.
  5. Trading down for Svechkov is a risky proposition. I see him being the second or third center taken. I know there's the Russian factor, and teams wanting to draft the "higher ceiling" guys, and all that. But if the top 4 D, Eklund, and McTavish are gone, I say just take him.
  6. Love that trade. Dickinson was a big part of the Stars' Finals run in the bubble. Don't let the -7 fool you, he was huge for Khudobin. I'm confident that his offense and faceoffs will improve with the Canucks. I bet we will resign him, as he's going into his prime.
  7. Surprised Svechkov is that low. Thought he'd continue rising up draft boards. I'm pretty happy with the idea of drafting anyone in that top 9. Svechkov rounds out the top 10 for me.
  8. Jake is easily the best player on our unprotected list, but they (probably) won't take him because of the sexual assault charge.
  9. I love the idea of Domi playing with Horvat, but he's already been traded a couple times, which makes me wonder what's happening behind the scenes.
  10. He's a center. Our discussion right now is who would be a better 200 ft center - Svechkov or McTavish. McTavish probably has more offensive potential. But Svechkov might be the best transition and defensive center in this draft.
  11. The Scouching Report for Svechkov showed how he was one of the best transition forwards that Scouch tracked. He'd move the puck up the ice and into the offensive zone. But, when they got there, his VHL team couldn't sustain offensive possession. However, in the MHL and U-18s, he looked dangerous offensively. This makes me think he has untapped offensive potential. Together with some of our puck moving defensemen, especially Hughes, I think he could aid our transitions, and set up offensive zone faceoffs for our top line.
  12. Glad to see him land on his feet. Hope to see him get another job in an NHL front office. I think he did a good job as Canucks' GM. Burke and Nonis have retroactively gotten the lion share of credit--unfairly I think. Does Nonis deserve credit for how Gillis got Ehrhoff for freaking Patrick White?
  13. Who would you rather get: Svechkov or McTavish? I'm starting to like Svechkov more. Both would be great picks.
  14. I see him eventually taking the hometown discount. But he might be swayed by a team that actually would give him that money.
  15. I'm starting to think Sveckhov might be the BPA at our pick. Could be a really good two-way center. Is arguably the best defensive and transition center in this draft, and has untapped offensive potential. Might drop because of the Russian factor, but he would be amazing with Podkolzin. I've taken Sillinger off my list, cause he's not a good passer. Gets a bit of tunnel vision when he has the puck. I think we have enough guys who can shoot, and need a playmaker.
  16. Expected Parise, but surprised by Suter. Just a couple seasons ago, Suter had 48 points in 69 games, with 8 goals...
  17. I don't think he will go ahead of all the others, but one could fall because he's taken unexpectedly high. I don't know much about Raty. Just know that some people thought he'd be one of the top prospects, but then he had a disappointing season. Benning's comment that they've been scouting these players since they were 15 does make me think he might look past last season when it comes to Raty, and include him in his top 9-10. Because of that, I've been meaning to give him a look.
  18. I think Voracek would fit beautifully in our top 6. It's a shame his contract is so bad.
  19. I guess Holland is banking on Keith having a career renaissance playing with McDavid. I see this going very badly.
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if Lambos was picked high, pushing down guys like Clarke, Hughes, or Edvinsson.
  21. 1. Gretzky 2. Mario Lemieux 3. Bobby Orr 4. Dominik Hasek 5. Martin Brodeur 6. Patrick Roy 7. Connor McDavid 8. Gordie Howe
  22. Touche. We were incredibly lucky that Podz fell to us though. The only player out of the three (Clarke, Hughes, and Eklund) that I think could fall is Hughes.
  23. I find that hard to believe. He was pretty much the only Sabre that actually played well last year. Edit: Would definitely go for it though.
  24. That's for Benning to figure out, haha. To start, I would trade our 1st and 2nd. I know a lot of people are excited about who might be there in the 2nd round, but I would go for quality over quantity.
  25. That's why I think we should trade up.
