  1. I always thought the Vancouver Giants logo would've made a great Johnny Canuck jersey.
  2. I stated I would be happy with 8x8 so this ,imo, is a good deal for both sides. Extremely happy he's locked up. Canucks for life.
  3. This pro European movement JR and PA have going on will not get us any closer to a Stanley Cup.
  4. Much rather get Anderson. We could work out our 3C 9among other issues) with a Miller trade.
  5. I am still hoping that we can re-sign JTM but, if a deal is to be made, the only deal I want to see is one that brings back a legit partner for Hughes. A 23/24 year old two way dman with a great shot.
  6. I've been wrong about a few but, the one I found to mis-read the most was Quinn Hughes. Never saw him as a dominant defender but, last season really showed his desire to improve his game and become a 3 zone defender. I was really surprised (in a good way) that he was able to plug the lane the way he did and also intercept a lot of pucks last year. I even saw him push back at the opposition a couple times. It leads me to believe that there's still more to his game that can be evolved.
  7. This is a great deal for both sides and really demonstrates how much BB loves Vancouver. It also demonstrates the skills of our new negotiating staff and their ability to gain rapport with agents and players. This bodes well for the future. Now, lets get Bo extended. Great deal. Welcome back Brock.
  8. Maybe adding a Ville Ottavainen evens up the deal.
  9. Dropping in the draft,to get more picks imo, would be a smart move. One team I'd approach would be The Kraken. With 4 seconds, they should be very interested in moving a couple picks to jump up in favour of quality over quantity. I, also, am very intrigued by a right shot D named Maveric Lamoureux. Big, mean, and skills to be developed, this kid is being compared to Chara in style. Though definitely a project, with patience and proper development, this guy could become an NHL beast and one worth the gamble. Scouting sites have him peaking at a mid to low second round pick. Trading the 15th for their 35th and 4th rnd picks could provide some really nice pieces.
  10. Could this be an opportunity to shed some cap? JT Miller, OEL for Anthony Mantha, Martin Fehervary, Vincent Lorio and 2023 first They get a 100 pnt producer and a solid blueliner with plenty of experience. We get a feisty blueliner that can play right now, another for the future, shorter-term cap hit and a pick in a deep draft. We also open up a spot for Rathbone next season.
  11. Really, really hoping for a big push to sign Copp. Been wanting this guy for a long time. Nothing's changed.
  12. One player I've been intrigued with since reading about him before last years draft. He brings high energy, high intensity, bad attitude and offensive ability. The one knock on him is his tendency to be undisciplined. I'd rather have an ultra-competitive player then one that falls short in compete level. Luke Prokop is a big, solid defenseman, who brings a lot of speed to go with the size. There is a lot to like about this kids game. To Vancouver- Zach L'Heureux, Luke Prokop, 2022 17th overall pick To Nashville- Bo Horvat, Tyler Myers (2mil. retained) We get 3 big pieces that propel this team forward in the youth department. Young, skilled sandpaper, players. Exactly what we need. We also get some, much needed cap relief. Nashville is ready for higher success now. Horvat allows them to walk away from forsberg if things can't be worked out. Bo still has one more year on a favorable deal. A center core of Granlund, Johansen, Horvat, and Sissons is a pretty formidable foursome. At 4 mil. X 2, Myers becomes much more attractive to a lot of teams. He'd be a solid addition to their blueline.
  13. Like the Carlo deal. I'm a Carlo fan. Good value for both sides. Myers to Dallas is doable with some salary retention, imo. After the season Dickinson had, I don't really see a market for him. At 8.4, I think The Islanders would match. I think Mikheyev gets more on the market. Kuzmenko is a great opportunity to get a good player on the cheap for one season. I'm in. In a draft lacking depth, I'd rather have as many picks as I can get myself, this is a pass.
  14. This is a very real possibility. He's never been a part of the North American game. The NHL a totally different animal. But hey, a high offence player with a lot of experience on an ELC. Low risk, high reward. I'll take it.
  15. A huge factor in Miller's value could be JR's willingness to, perhaps, retain salary, as has been rumored to be an option. This would open up options for teams tight to the cap that wouldn't have, otherwise, been options. Teams I like are: Nashville- Jeanot, Prokop, 17th overall pick or Zach L'Heureux NYR- Schneider, Chytl, 2nd round pick 2022, 1st round pick 2023 Ottawa- Jake Sanderson, 7th overall pick Minny- Fiala and Ryan O'Rourke
  16. While I really like the Garland's game and what he brings, I really feel it was a move made to try save someone's job, and was one we weren't ready for, even without OEL being part of it. I believe JB tried to cheat the rebuild by trading a lot of picks and making ill-advised signings. Now the team has a bloated payroll and, very little to show for it. It is my opinion that this team needs to get back to building through the draft and gathering prospects. Our prospect pool is sorely lacking top end talent and depth. This deal brings great value to both teams. They get a top-six, veteran winger with sandpaper in his game and an ability to come up big in big moments. He'd be a great fit with LA We get a promising defender who should become a good NHLer, perhaps becoming a great partner for QH. Anderson-Dolan also has promise to be an effective top-nine. Admittedly, I've never seen him play but, The Hockey Writers say," he does whatever it takes to win." The Canucks could definitely use some of that approach in their line-up. Both players are closer to being NHLers then anything JR could get with the 15th pick. Bottom line is, I like this deal.
  17. 1. OEL is a tough sell for any team; big contract vs term, age, and lack of production being the issues. I can't see LA being willing to take it on for Garland. 2. Could see Columbus having interest in Boeser. Not so sure about Myers though and high possibility of Columbus being on his no trade list. 3. Pearson has value now. Why wait until 2025 for a return? As for signings; if scorched earth is the strategy, I see it more advantageous to go back to drafting and developing. look to take on, short-term cap-dumps and gain more prospects and picks. JR has stated his desire to see an annual contender in Vancouver. Building that takes seasons of pain and patience. JB set this team back for a few seasons, trying to save his job. I hope JR and PA have the patience and effective strategic skills necessary to create their vision. I, for one, would be eternally grateful.
  18. Gonna be a pretty tough task. Five more seasons on a contract that is, less then appealing for any potential trade partner. I don't see any scenario where we don't lose something of significant value.
  19. I don't mean to be sounding like I'm arguing. I only speak from the imaginary world of me being Philly's manager. All in good fun.
  20. I totally agree with not overpaying for ufas. I'd rather see that money being invested in our own, properly developed players. Long-term success is achieved through the draft and proper development of those prospects. This team has become far too dependent on immediate impact and has lost touch with the fact that most prospects do not make the NHL for a few years and that having a deep prospect pool is vitally important to any NHL team. If this team were properly built, it would be our own drafted players getting paid, not imports. I firmly believe that only depth players should free agent considerations or trade possibilities, not as core players. Our core should be entirely drafted and developed from within. Care must be taken not to overpay in such situations.
  21. Pressure is always going to be a part of professional sport. From my point of view, management is there to do what's best for the franchise, even, sometimes, in spite of fan reaction. Philly has been in freefall for a couple seasons now. Their average age is only getting higher. I can't say I'm a fan of The Flyers but, from their standpoint, a rebuild would probably be the smarter move. But hey; if they're willing to trade a top five pick for JTM, I'd have to be all for it. There is a defender I'm definitely interest in that probably goes top 5.
  22. I think it would be really tough for Philly to give up a young, blue chip prospect for an older player; even if he's a 100 pnt guy. Would I give up a top 5 pick for a 28 yr old player, knowing that a rebuild is in order? I have to say no. If anything, I'm looking to move more players to get more picks. I'm, probably looking to do what Arizona did last offseason in taking big contracts on and gathering more picks and prospects.
  23. The Sedins always had problems with speed. That combined with the modern day faster game had a lot to do with the haste of their decline. It wasn't just age. JT Miller plays a much faster paced game then either of those two ever did.
  24. I agree that the 9.25 AAV is too high but I'm comfortable at 8-8.5. I've said in other threads that Miller is very serios about his craft and keeps himself in peak physical condition. Seeing him play at a 90 to 100 pnt pace until, at least, 34 is not unrealistic. If his ask is above 8.5 and the feeling is there's no wiggle room, dealing him by the draft, imo, would be the better move. But hey, I would be glad to be wrong and see him re-sign for under 8.
