  1. Who's your favorite NHL team besides the Canucks? Right now I'm really feeling Minnesota.

I'm a big Kessel/Crosby fan so the Penguins

Also Minnesota. They aren't the team they used to be and I'm not sure how they can be considered boring anymore. Especially after they nearly made the biggest playoff game comeback since the Miracle on Manchester.

Yes, they had a great series in the playoffs, which also piqued my interest. I seem to remember our regular season games against them the last couple seasons to be snooze-fests though. I'll definitely watch their progress more closely this fall, and hopefully I'll make it to a game of theirs in San Jose.

  2. So the OYO Sports toy website already lists the Pens as the 2016 SCF champs, and is selling figurines accordingly. Their SJ Sharks page doesn't even note the team made it to finals...

  3. Yessir. What what about this guy? Should be an easy one.
  4. The second he dropped his gloves I started getting nervous, imagine how the guy he was fighting felt. That looked like a grown man too, and Try's pretty young. What a beast!
  5. Who are the other American CDCers?

Compton is gentrified and far from the hood. Actually becoming a pretty nice area.

Is Compton to an American like Surrey is to a Canadian?

  6. Best all around, I'd agree. He's by far my favorite Canuck (past or present). It's truly been an honor to watch him do work. I think a healthy Henrik should pull points in the seventies for sure.
  7. I'll give Dorse a bump since no one else has said anything about him. Seems like a good character guy but his brand of hockey player is getting phased out of the league. I feel lIke he's obsolete on this team, especially with our fourth line becoming a development line.
  8. Ahaha that's awesome! The example totally makes sense too since I took French from middle school up through 11th grade, and let's just say my French leaves something to be desired. He does seem to have a kindness about him, kind of like a gentle giant. Big smile, etc. Maybe that's just with the fans. Seems like a sweet kid. I'll be happy if he makes the team next season.
  9. How was his English? (Unless you were speaking Russian). I've heard it's better than he lets on.
  10. Can't say I disagree. Hurts a bit to acknowledge our three best players are each 35 years old.
  11. Any other CDCers planning on not watching the SC Finals? I honestly couldn't care less about PIT and SJS.

I like Junior hockey..international and the Canucks..hockey fan all my life..just growing tired of a steady diet.

I never watched international until this year but I really enjoyed the big ice. NHL is cool, but if the Canucks weren't in the league I wouldn't be watching hockey at all.

  12. Ran out of likes but much appreciated
  13. Any idea what constitutes "working out" for him for 6-7h daily?? I'm curious, because that seems like a surefire way to get injured.
  14. I think, like Bärtschi, he just needs to be given true time and space to develop. The same thing lots of upset fans said about Shinkaruk in Van (we didn't give him a chance) could be said about Granlund's time in Calgary. Willie's goal of treating the fourth line like a development line rather than a grinding shutdown line should match up well with Granlund's skill set. Throw Baer and Virtanen on the wings and I think we've got an up and coming skill line producing some secondary scoring. I could see Granny potting 5-10 to goals over 15-20 points next season .
  15. According to the article Stierlitz translated in "Nikita Tryamkin Talk" (second or third to last page) Try said he'll the training in Canada this summer to prepare for next season. He also said that they take long breaks (~1 week iirc) between KHL games, which would explain his lackluster conditioning. I'll be waiting with baited breath to see how things turn out for him in training camp. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, so I'm confident he'll work as hard as possible on his stamina.
  16. I don't think it'll take five, unless the Sedins re-sign for a few after this current contract ends.
  17. So who's our starter next season? Miller? Marky? Split 50-50? In spite of how well Markström has played I feel like Millsy has to start. You don't pay a man $6M to ride the bench, even part time. I'm predicting a 3-1 split.
  18. I'd say "Around NHL". I can start one up when I get home if y'all are down! We could make a game of it; black out the faces and "Name that Flow!"
  19. We've got Taney, Granny, and Hutton- that's a start!
