[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Colorado Avalanche | Nov. 23, 2022

Character win and it came from players most of the supporting cast today. Hughes had a terrible game and we still won so that’s a good thing, something was way off today. Sucks for Garland as he needed one and the call could have gone either way to be honest. Myers is laughable at this point in his tenure and I don’t see how he doesn’t sit or get shipped out with some retention, awful at Hockey. Boeser on the quietest 8 game point streak I’ve ever heard of, but good for him. Horvat just rolling even in games he was noticeable, scary next contract for anyone who signs him for big money. You need to roll with Martin and get Demko with Clark ASAP. -
Hopefully he turns it around here. I was upset we drafted a winger instead of Centre or Dman in the first round last year. We really should be trading back and acquiring more lotto tickets in the draft. He’s still very young and our scouting staff was drooling over him, this is where we see if going forward we are good at the draft table with this group. Fingers crossed.

Tank Hard for Bedard - Playoff chances are already Slim

I’m glad we aren’t picking up any extra points and usually lose in regulation. Hope this continues at this point. We need way more draft picks. -
[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade

I’m surprised Zaitsev rejected a deal to the Canucks with all the Russians on the team. Must want out of Canada period. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

He’s not going to want to go through the rebuild and he’s too competitive to not want to make the playoffs every year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he hasn’t already asked behind closed doors. Guys the new Loui Eriksson around here to some and we will be blowing up the team at some point. -

Who hires the people to run the team? Who puts Benning in charge for 8 years? Who did they hire after him to stay status quo? If you don’t understand why it’s ownerships fault, then common sense might not be so common. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller

I think he asks out of this market and gets traded. He still has no protection this year until his 7 year deal kicks in next year. He’s a scapegoat at this point and probably feels very foolish for talking about playing on the other side of the puck better this year, he’s gotten worse, somehow! He won’t get as much value returned and will probably rebound on another team like Dallas or NYI who could use a player like him. I see Horvat gone as well and not by choice of management, leaving the Captain this long they have now put themselves in a position where they are the passengers, not the drivers anymore. Just a mess, Demko goes at the draft after that. -

I am absolutely stoked that my team is an absolute tire fire right now. No way they can’t blow it up and I’m here for it. Just a bunch of clowns running the show here. -
I think its more about the big picture of we will be getting worse not better after this year due to the salary cap. We will be losing one of Horvat or Kuzmenko without the opportunity to fix our defence and staying status quo for the next few years until some other contracts come off the books. Lots of our players under contract would take some big sweeteners in order to move and our prospect pool is already one of the worst in the league. We have already started the process of losing draft capital already with a second and fifth round pick traded in order to get two #6 and #8 Dmen just to stay a float. Expect more picks gone this summer in order to get rid of Myers, Pearson and potentially OEL if any team would actually want those players. That also significantly worsens our back end and you can’t replace them because the money has to go towards Horvat and Kuzmenko. Now we have a worse backend and potentially a few less picks. The optimism is so short sighted with some fans as it’s usually the educated group that knows what needs to happen and what could have been done to avoid this. If we traded Boeser and Miller for picks and prospects and maybe a NHL ready Dman we could have avoided all of this and those two are some of the laziest players on the team. im not commenting on what Benning did as he is no longer here and in charge. The new regime said Miller didn’t fit our timeline and Boeser wasn’t part of our core but they went out and locked them up to $14.675 million, you seriously can’t make this stuff up. Frustrating!!!!!!!

Colour me unimpressed, the whole Miller situation was botched and he wasn’t in our timeline as well as our biggest chip to get a Dman or picks to save salary cap. Now we will be losing Horvat and Kuzmenko if we have any hope of reshaping the defence or we roll status quo, Boeser and Garland will have to go and one of Myers or OEL.

Vancouver management worked so hard to get this player over and didn’t have the foresight to have enough money to keep him by signing Miller and Boeser. Horvat looks like another casualty as well or we sign one and can’t fix the defence. Fun times as a Canucks fan!

Last place teams who are stuck with immovable contracts? Sure!

I’m hoping we have a plan to offload a few at the trade deadline this year to get some extra picks. -
This is basically Bennings team, also the reason we are up to our eyeballs in CAP trouble.

Kuzmenko will bolt after this year no doubt, not a very fun environment to be in to be honest. As a long time fan, I hope this sites a full rebuild and we build from the backend out this time. Keep Hughes, Pettersson and Demko and build. You might have to trade a Podkolzin for that Stud Dman unfortunately, or he could also be a piece moving forward. Management knew we needed to blow the team up and they resign Miller instead of gaining assets and cap. In 3 years I see a whole other set of hires and potential a team sale due to fans not coming or supporting this absolute tire fire of decisions. -
Pass.
