  1. We watched it all, but in the end came away with the feeling that they were trying to make something sensational from of very little substance. There was a LOT of repetition and padding in the series.
  2. Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg, Lily Tomlin, Woody Allen, Eddie Murphy, John Candy—All of them have had their moments in various movies, but I've got to agree with you regarding Carrey I'm not a violent person, but every time I see that ridiculous phony smile I feel this alien urge to put my fist through it.
  3. I just looked at seatgeek and vivid seats and there seems to be little logic in the pricing—seats in the same section varying by over $100. All expensive, but that goes for just about anything in that city—which is why we keep our visits short.
  4. I'm going to be in Vegas for the December 15 game, haven't been to a game there yet. What is the most reliable place to get tickets? Also anywhere in the arena that is preferable?
  5. Irish/American, but I was born and grew up in England
  6. I'd like to see Green put him on the top line for say half a dozen games, that should be all the opportunity he needs to show that there's still something there. If that doesn't work then I see no reason why he should remain on the roster, potentially holding back the development of a young prospect.
  7. Possibly would have—if the media gave a $hit about me.
  8. In terms of skill there's no doubt in my mind that it would have to be Hughes. However it's his size that would concern me when talking #1 defenceman. Time will tell I guess.
  9. It's fairly obvious that the best thing would be to move LE before the season starts. However if he's still on the books I don't think it would hurt to try him for a few games with those two. If it didn't work then they have a decision to make, but if it could re-ignite some of the form that induced them to sign him in the first place it would be a real bonus at no extra cost.
  10. The NHL really needs to set up some kind of off-season competition to enable us all to keep our sanity. Four months without hockey is evidently already taking it's toll.
  11. . . . and they end up with a Daigle or Stefan. There are no guarantees when it comes to draft day.
  12. I've got to disagree with you there. In my mind any player who has scored 56 points in 66 games for his country is entitled to be called elite—or choose another synonym. At the very least it places him in a very small group of players.
  13. I'm sick and tired of hearing Loui being disrespected day after day on this forum. He is an elite player who has been going through a period in his playing career that I'm sure he would give just about anything to turn around, his professional pride would demand that. Sure, at this point if I thought it could be done I'd like to see him traded and give both parties a fresh start, but it probably won't happen and if it did the cost would, in all likelihood be too great. So let's just hope that the real LE will turn up this coming season and add to the growing feeling that this team is becoming something to reckon with.
  14. Leivo is OK, but for my money, based on last season's performance the most undervalued player on the roster is Motte, game after game he was consistent. Hard working with a fair skill set.
  15. The trade has been made and we can only hope that it turns out to be a good one, obviously that's something that time will tell. However I do think that trading one's only first round pick is not a good move, no matter how low down the order you may be—who knows you may end up picking 23rd and just get lucky
  16. Amen to that! although something like LE + draft pick for Lucic and Puljujarvi would be very acceptable IMO
  17. Can't really hate players, the one's that get the hate are normally agitators doing their job and in some cases are also damn good players. Messier was perhaps an exception for all the off-ice antics. But if I was asked to pick someone in hockey who I despise? Bettman—hands down.
  18. To sign EK at this point would suggest that he's the final piece in the puzzle to help the Canucks to the Holy Grail. That's not going to happen for at least another couple of years, maybe more, by which time he's likely to be past his prime. Rather be patient and develop a solid base through drafts, trades and development à la Chicago.

    Alex Biega | #55 | D

His work ethic, speed and sheer enthusiasm should have him playing regular 5-6 D shifts. There has barely been a game this season where he wouldn't have been a better replacement for one of those on the ice, often more than one of them. Glad to see they signed him up again.
  20. The way transfer fees and players wages are spiralling there's probably only about twenty thousand people in the country that will be able to afford a seat. Then what? Implosion?
  21. I can only watch this in horror and hope that they can get as many people as possible to safety. When mother nature cracks the whip we humans are shown to be not quite the supreme beings we perhaps think we are.
  22. Barcelona are in real trouble, they just upped their Coutinho bid to 129 million euros, which FSG immediately turned down. This has to be an act of desperation on Barcelona's part. Coutinho is good, but not that good. I think they have a lot of rebuilding ahead of them.
