  1. If you have ever tried haggis, you'd absolutely understand this saying ! It attaches itself to every nook and cranny. Brushing doesn't help ! Scrubbing doesn't help ! Took me three days to get rid of that 'bad taste'. (....I'm told I'm about 10% Scottish, which is why I was stupid enough to think I had to try it. )
  2. Isn't the film industry great ?
  3. No expert here, but I believe they have until 15th Aug after their senior year before becoming UFA. Rathbone and Madden for instance both must be signed by 15/Aug '22. Starting college the same year, seems to be the contractual trigger. Below is the CapFriendly 'sign by date'. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks/reserve-list
  4. His contract is mainly signing bonuses. Actual salary is $1mil for two years. Retained salary maximum is 50% of salary, so $500k. As with most things, I'm fairly sure this is how it works, but not 100% sure
  5. There is next to no benefit retaining salary with LE's contract. $500,000 if my math is correct. It would be a 3rd and final salary retention. How would CDC armchair GMs finalise all their fantastic trades without being able to retain salary ? ( yes, I know, we lose MDZ next year ). Poor LE, now that Gudbranson is gone and Sutter is injured, he's kind of alone at the whipping post. All the haters and tough guys are going to tear the poor guy to shreds !
  6. Loved Beagle, but felt his very good SC showing had turned him into an expensive signing. The four year term was part of that high price tag. Schaller's relative obscurity plus a two year deal seemed easier to swallow. As I said earlier, I knew nothing about Schaller and went on his stats plus complimentary revues out of Boston.
  7. Sorry to quote myself, but, at the start of this season, I was enthusiastic about this unnoticed player with the impressive stats. There has to be some unreported reason for this disaster of a season ! At the time, I believed he was the 'safest' of the 3 UFA signings. Will he be better at our next training camp ? Hope springs eternal, but Schaller's poor performance defies logic. What the heck happened ?
  8. Now that we're semi-officially missing the post season ( all the teams above us would have to be .500 and we'd have to win +/- 12/13 of our final 17 ! ), I wonder what JB will do with his final two call up allowance ( Sautner/ Brisebois already used up two spots ). He must have something in mind, or the non papering of Gaudette just makes no sense at all. Perhaps a better look at MacEwen ? Maybe a stint at @ 4C for Gaunce ? Don't see Chatfield getting a look. Jasek might be a very long shot for a 'look see'. Lind, Gadjovich are ways too far away. Kero ? We shall see I guess. Expect the unexpected !
  9. Indeed. I think they view Gaunce as our forward version of Biega. The #13 forward and #7 d-man are an important part of a good team.
  10. Agreed, but you kind of have to ignore the fact that he was in our system ( AHL contract ? ) in 2011/12. We were unaware of what we had. He moved on to 5 1/2 solid seasons in Dallas.
  11. The only positive answer I can come up with, is that JB wants to have a look at a prospect or two ( without having to have a Canuck injured ). Jasek maybe. McEneny/ Chatfield perhaps. MacEwen/ Gaunce maybe, or even Kero or Pyatt to evaluate next season's signings. At about the 70 game mark, if we are out of playoff contention, we might see some 'show me' call ups.
  12. That is how they originally had him listed. Don't know why they changed it to 'indefinite'.
  13. Indeed ! Madden ( stat wise ) seems to have slowed down at Northeastern. If the NCAA season is wearing him down, the AHL/ NHL season might be too much, too soon. No idea how real his 150lb weight stat is, but he does need to add 10/ 20 lbs ! Would be nice to see Lockwood at the pro level !
  14. Artem Manuykan ( remember him ? ) with a goal ( 25th Feb ) and 3 hits, most on his team, with 6:42 TOI. Still throwing that tiny body around ! I wonder if he has bulked up much ! Playing in KHL post season.
  15. I was referring to Tanner Pearson. I know absolutely nothing about Linus Karlsson except what I see on HockeyDB. (....yes, a centre )
  16. Yes, Dahlen seems to have been pencilled in to play on EP's left side. I think that things must be worse than is being reported. JB did get a LW, but I don't think he will be playing with EP. Don't know if JB is doing Dahlen a favour or they are just happy to get him out of Dodge !
  17. Because EP40's need of a LW is a 'now'/ very soon issue. Linus Karlsson is a non factor for 3/ 4/ 5 years. Hopefully EP40 has a quality LW before that.
  18. Really need to have this non-move explained to me ! Keep wondering what I'm missing.
  19. Indeed. It will be interesting to see who fills his TOI ! Many CDCers ( myself included ) want way more ice time for Lind and Gadjovich (...and Jasek ? ). This is a blow to Utica, but hopefully there is a silver lining !
  20. He does have the advantage of being in a great system that maximises potential. Just look how they have nurtured Justin Holl ! (.....and I'm sure Frank Corrado will be forever grateful. )
  21. No, he is definitely a Canuck fan. Spelled all those complex 'nuck names perfectly (.....okay, he got three wrong, let's not nitpick ). No TML fan would be that accurate !
  22. The AHL regular season ends about a week after the NHL. If Canucks are out and Comets are in, seems that Gaudette would benefit from having the option to play for Utica. ( after playing a game or two to end their regular season )
  23. MacEwen and Mazanec seem to be the only two papered down. Does not make sense. ( perhaps a delay because of all the TDL activity ? )
  24. Thought Gaudette had to be 'papered' down to Utica today, to be eligible for a Calder cup run. Only MacEwen and Mazanec are listed. (.......and no Schenn ) Edit:......or Sautner
