  1. I think it also makes it pretty clear why we haven't seen any sign of the beast-mode Ferland we remember from the past. It also raises some question as to whether we'll ever see that player again.
  2. It's a tough situation, but for a player like him who wasn't exactly in high demand as UFA, he's probably happy just to have a job in the NHL.
  3. And if he does come back soon, it might not be the best idea.
  4. Ferland had at least one serious concussion last season. He thought he had recovered, tried playing a game or two in the preseason this year, then had to sit out with an unidentified "illness". He tried to start the regular season on schedule, but everyone could see that he just wasn't himself. My guess is that he had post-concussion syndrome all along, maybe exacerbated by something that happened to him in the preseason, and this is why it took so little for him to get concussed again in the fight with Clifford -- really just having his brain jostled around without even taking a direct blow to the head. Unfortunately, this reminds me a bit of when Todd Fedoruk tried to make a comeback on a preseason try-out with the Canucks a few years back, as well as when Dorsett tried his comeback. Either he's going to have to take a really long time off to finally recover from his concussions or may never come back, at least not as the physically dominating player and skilled pugilist that he used to be.
  5. Breaking Fox News Headline: "Glorious Leader kills ISIS Tyrant with bare hands! (confabulated) Details and (simulated) photographic evidence to follow!"
  6. Or hold onto him until they have to expose/lose either Markstrom or Demko in the expansion draft, then know that they have him to replace whoever they lose.
  7. Haha! It doesn't sound like it's Green that's responsible for Pettersson's new approach, it's his new linemate's influence: https://www.nhl.com/news/jt-miller-providing-leadership-for-vancouver-canucks/c-310401816 For those who don't want to bother with the read, it's Miller who has convinced both Petey and Boeser to just dump it in, rather than always trying to carry it.
  8. Yes, but that's okay, I was feeling bored too!
  9. I really like the idea of Green playing Ferland with Virtanen. Hopefully some of Virtanen's intensity will rub off on Ferland and he'll learn how to play like a true power forward!
  10. Probably just trying to make things fair for the other team.
  11. Leading the AHL standings right now. Tied with the Marlies in points -- but blowing them away (and the rest of the league) in goal differential!
  12. That's just my semi-wild guess, based on the fact that he had an undisclosed illness during training camp that caused him to lose 10 lbs. and still seems to be causing him fatigue when he plays.
  13. I still say he's recovering from mono!
  14. Unfortunately, I don't think so. LE isn't skilled enough to take a top 6 spot on this team andjust doesn't have any of the qualities that Green wants in his bottom 6 forwards, like size, strength, grit or tenacity. It's because Schaller does have these qualities, and is finally showing them pretty well this year, that he's back in the lineup.
  15. We can only hope....let us pray
  16. Can anybody tell me what this guy is doing so much better this year than last year to have made himself a regular on the fourth line? I do think he's playing just fine this year, but I can't recall what he was doing last year that Green disliked so much.
  17. They never did reveal what his mystery illness actually was. Makes we wonder a bit about the mono. If that's what it was, he would be having low energy for a long time and Green would probably know not to be overplaying him and wearing him out.
  18. Hopefully they're piquing the interest of some other NHL teams who need scoring help. We'll know the Canucks are on the right trajectory when they can start trading some of their veteran depth players for draft picks, which is something we've almost never been in a position to do (not that I want to see the Comets weakened though).
  19. Comets being outshot 13-2, but lead 2-0. Just had a goalie change for Rochester
  20. It's Schallatov Cocktail, because of his explosiveness!
  21. You're right. He has looked slightly more willing to get involved in pushing and shoving to stand up for himself or his teammates in the last two games. Let's just hope that this is a sign of a new attitude developing, and not just a short-lived anomaly.
  22. Just another reason to be thankful that we live in Canada and hope we can continue to distance ourselves from US culture as much as possible.
  23. Yeah, I remember that draft Alf. That's when they used to start at 9 am PST. Going when he did (was it #9 overall?), Bo would have been drafted by us at approximately 10 am. Considering that you were already 'wasted' by then, exactly what time did you start the scotch drinking that morning??
