Once this thing starts going, do we edit our lineups? If we want to sub in a 7th or 13th, do we do so on.... Fantrax? Or do you have to post here or something

You'll post call-ups, send-downs, IR assignments and such here. Good idea to tag Gator along with it. You don't need to sub in your 7th or 13th though. Whatever is on your main roster will accumulate points on any given day. All 23 players. Also it's a good idea to apprise yourself of the various waiver rules. Players only need to pass through waivers to be sent down, can be called up without waivers. Limits on exemption/eligibility can be found in our CBA section 4.4.

My bad I just seen this.. Any player drafted this draft will be entered as being drafted in 2023.. Not signing them while they're playing in the league may hurt you if you plan to eventually lock them up long term.

And so also 2022 drafted players get an extra year to sign? We'll have until 2025 to sign them instead of 2024?

Interesting, on a couple different levels. So this also goes for sliding players who are playing in the NHL?

Definitely mayde some rushed picks, left some serious work ahead for myself in terms of building a playoff caliber team, even more to reach contending level. Alot of weight riding on my less proven players and prospects, not ideal considering the risk involved with that. But all in all had some serious fun building and should be even more fun to see how things playout across the league.

    Prospects:

    Will Smith

    Lian Bichsel

    Quinton Musty

    Drew Commesso

    Will Cuylle

    Sam Rinzel

    Nico Daws

    Cole Guttman

    Antonio Stranges

    Timur Mukhanov

    Maxence Guenette

I've said to you in DMs and I still maintain yours has been one of my favorite builds of the draft. I mean there's some really good ones and it's impossible to pick one or even just a couple, but I have to admit once I got a grasp on what you were trying to do I stole some elements of your build for myself. Star players on emerging teams + young emerging players on established contenders. Just based on the names of the GMs in the Atlantic I knew we'd be in for a challenge, so it was a bit of a relief to see that most of the division is leaning more future-oriented. Florida and Tampa look to be the runaway favorites for year one, although I hope to be in the mix as well. Most of the others look to be a little ways down the road (barring major trades), but year two is when it looks like my Sens and your Bruins could could emerge as legit contenders.

  5. First off, the Ottawa Senators would like to thank CSKA Moscow, as there's not a snowballs chance in hell this kid makes it to me here if not for two years left under contract there. The Ottawa Senators are as ecstatic as we've been all draft to select Prokhor Poltapov.

Could contain: Hockey, Ice Hockey, Ice Hockey Stick, Rink, Skating, Sport, Helmet

Best for Gally to give an official answer, my belief is that only 2022 guys can be left without a contract until next June 30th and 2023 draft guys have two seasons beffore their rights expire, everyone else will need a contract before Oct 1 or so. Again I may be misinterpreting things so best for G to weigh in.

    Lol you mean Gator?

best to move tthis out of the draft thread maybe? I think Gator has time frames set but i could be wrong: i think it is 2 years from the draft date to sign them max, shrinking by age...and folks in the NHL we draft in this inaugural have to be signed before the season is my understanding.

Yeah that's doubly my bad, both for cluttering the draft thread and for missing that in the CBA. I assumed it would be under the "entry draft" heading.

OK I did find this in the CBA: "Unsigned prospects are players that you have drafted but have never given an ELC to. These prospects will re-enter the draft in 2 years if not signed to an ELC. There is no limit on how many unsigned prospects you can have."

It makes sense that players drafted in future entry drafts will all be subject to GFL rules, but what about players drafted in the fantasy draft? @Gator

Will all college and European prospects drafted more than two year ago need to be given GFL contracts immediately after the draft?

I have seen about three that I don't think will have a contract in the NHL at all, but I think the pickers genuinely feel they will get a PTO or something late? I dunno, but it isn't cap circumventing as they will have to negotiate a contract with them or lose them to UFA status i guess...which is just wasting a pick imo. Might be wrong though? A strategy i did not foresee?

OH and a bunch of 22/23 even 21 drafted guys may not have NHL deals yet, Euro's still on a SHL or Liiga contract from 2021 draft might be the bulk of them your seeing.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be anything in the CBA yet about this, so I would assume real life NHL rules will have to be honored for now. The most up-to-date info I can find is that CHLers need to be signed within 2 years (as everyone knows). For college players, they basically have up to 4 years to be signed, but there seems to be caveats where the older they are when drafted the time limit shrinks. Players drafted from European countries with NHL transfer agreements have 4 years to sign. Players from countries without transfer agreements (i.e. Russian currently, as the transfer agreement was suspended after Ukraine invasion), rights will be retained indefinitely. But I'm assuming players drafted while the KHL transfer agreement was in place will still be subject to the 4 year window.

What does slide and all that mean again? I have Ostlund, and Willander who obviously won't be on my roster. So I slide them?

I assume callups and roster is based off fantrax? If so

    I need to send down

    Brink

    Foote

    Dean

    Ostlund

    Willander

    Wright

    And call up

    Bjugstad

    Bonino

    Kunin

    Ylonen

    Benoit

Willander isn't under contract so can't / doesn't need to be slid. Ostlund can. But yeah, have a look at the spreadsheets. The whole league will start to make a lot more sense.

Rosters are based on the team spreadsheets on the first post of this thread.
