  1. Proven - Money CAN buy anything. PGA board members = the living embodiment of hypocrisy - working for months behind their own members' backs and likely sanction any PGA tour member who publicly criticize their decision. This is disappointing on many levels.
  2. Agreed. Babcock did inappropriate things while Quenville did something illegal and then ran away from it knowing he'd try to re-enter the league when most people forgot about his role in it. I don't really care if Babcock works again but if Quenville is cleared by the NHL then to me they are condoning what the Blackhawks allowed and essentially clearing Q of his involvement. I've said it before, Quenville/Bowman should be allowed to work in the NHL again when Beach plays in the NHL again.
  3. This guy wanted nothing to do with his 'hometown' when he had the opportunity to sign here and could still play hockey. Now that he can barely skate and is looking to sign with any team for near minimum just to stay in the bigs, it's all of a sudden a dream of his to play for his hometown.....please.......
  4. Cheers. I actually think the best thing to do moving forward in the next CBA would be to have all player fines/suspensions determined by a independent, impartial arbitrator through an expedited process. But we all know that would NEVER happen because neither the NHL nor the PA would ever agree to cede power to another entity that they couldn't themselves heavily influence.
  5. While I agree the system, as it works now (or doesn't work) is a complete joke. But we need to remember there's two sides to the CBA. The NHL has tried to raise both minimum fines and suspension lengths in previous iterations of the CBA and the NHLPA refused to participate in these discussions despite knowing full well this would be one way to deter/prevent it's own members from being injured or worse, end their careers. Reason being - the NHLPA oppose any means whereby it would cost their members either playing eligibility and/or money out of their own pockets - doesn't matter if their own players are losing hundreds man-games to injury inflicted by their fellow NHLPA members. Don't forget, when NHL players are suspended, the group that appeals the suspension on behalf of the player is the NHLPA. DOPS doesn't want to be in the position of having most/all of their decisions appealed and sent to an independent arbitrator - that's just bad for optics so they typically shoot for a low-bar and the NHLPA typically doesn't appeal - when both sides are not happy there's likely been a middle ground found sadly. Remember - the NHLPA were the scum that actually appealed the NHL's decision to suspend that criminal Voynov when he admitted he was guilty - the NHLPA thought he shouldn't be suspended for the entire season. The NHLPA also counselled it's own members when they were summoned before the NHL with regards to the sexual assault that the Blackhawks covered up. The NHLPA is no ally for player safety as ironic as that sounds.
  6. That's complete BS - he's coming off as though it was 'accidental' when everyone knows it was totally deliberate and borne out of frustration that they're getting absolutely spanked in front of the entire hockey community. He should be ashamed of himself as the captain of his team, putting his selfishness before the needs of his team and he should've come out and said just that.
  7. Never thought I'd say this but it should definitely go to Bill Armstrong for keeping that absolute joke of a franchise in Arizona actually running and still in the NHL.
  8. Are we all ready for the steady stream of fabrications regarding every player/pick/prospect on the team leading up to next month's draft?

  9. He's worked in NHL 'front office ' positions since he retired in 2011 and he's the current assistant GM in Calgary so it was a natural fit for their organization.
  10. None of the Allvin signings are particularly egregious in and of themselves (other than Boeser's to a degree) - the main issue is that by signing (re-signing) these guys, he's crippled this club financially as a result of not being able to make the other necessary moves to lesson the cap concerns of the club. JR said from day 1 (and Allvin said the same thing as soon as he arrived) that the club wouldn't be trading away high picks (they did anyway) and they would be creating 'cap flexibility' (which they have NOT done). Again, in a vacuum none of the signings are terrible (except Boeser's), but they simply exacerbated an already existing problem with this organization that management has not been able to address. Imagine our cap situation (not to mention our draft capital/prospect pool) if we didn't sign Mik, and traded both Miller/Kuz at the deadline for picks/prospects? Not only would we have the cap-room JR has said from day 1 he wanted, but we wouldn't be rated as one of the worst prospect pools/farm teams in the entire league. Or, even more realistically, imagine if Allvin were able to unload Garland/Boeser without having to actually pay someone to take those contracts?
  11. Hoping the cap goes up every year isn't a replacement for wise, fiscal, long-term planning for this organization. If this happens and the cap does increase - it's just luck for Allvin. Yes, Benning made a mess of things for sure, but Allvin didn't exactly 'penny pinch' when he took over either to this point. Allvin has some decisions to make - some hard ones that might rub some people the wrong way - but ones that need to be made to keep this franchise competitive in the long-term.
  12. Let me guess, a drug induced crime spree - and the perp is probably going to be out of custody by this weekend.
  13. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/gary-bettman-to-meet-with-joel-quenneville-to-review-status-once-playoffs-end-1.1962521 I knew this was inevitable. These guys were always going to wait until the general public mostly forgot about their role in the scandal and slime their way back into the league. I think Quenneville and Bowman should be allowed to return to the NHL when Kyle Beach does......seems fair.
  14. I think in hindsight, most people would argue that he didn't in fact have the right players - especially the 'core'. They didn't get the job done after multiple attempts - he should've realized this group would never win in the playoffs but he kept believing they would so he never made the 'major surgery' he should have. I think their group could've accomplished a lot more if he had changed the make-up of the 'core four'. If he had the guts to trade Nylander for a player like O'Rielly was in his prime (not the guy he is now), imagine the impact of that on the entire team?
  15. I'll never forgive ownership for throwing Linden under the bus - they used him to get this fan-base back on their side after they lost the city's support, then they blindsided him leaving no option but for him to resign. Linden took the high road with regards to his dealings with this organization and is still giving back to this community as demonstrated by this initiative he's become involved with - Aquaman on the other hand............
  16. Is ANYONE actually surprised by this? I mean it's laughable, but not surprising at all.
  17. Small market Canadian team versus Bettman and his owners's hand picked expansion flagship organization that they literally changed the expansion rules for. Bettman and the owners must be salivating uncontrollably at the thought of the 'billion' dollar expansion fee they can charge the next expansion applicants after they find out a way to make LV win somehow lol..... It's a business, not a sport, right? Vegas winning would be really, really, really good for NHL business.
  18. Edmonton needs to know they not only need to beat the Knights, they need to beat Bettman and his cronies as well. It aint fair, but it's reality.
  19. We needed C and D last year as bad as we do this year and Allvin still took Lekkerimaki even though there were both C and D options available on the board. At this point, the only W I'd be ok with taking would be Michkov.
