  1. Correct, most are not. HOWEVER: If someone reads fake news, and decides to "buy it", they forward it (IE read it on twitter themselves or make it up), post it elsewhere, then maybe two or three more buy it. And so on. And you get viral fake news, which by way of impact by propagation gains 'traction' as far as how "true" it is - "Look how many people think this is true, it must be true!" Not saying this particular instance will or does result in that. But it's how it spreads. So I am the change I wish to see in the world, I 'cancel fake news' and all that when I see it. I don't chase down the internet yelling FAKE NEWS - but if I cross paths with it, I will highlight the idiocy of it, and usually anything with weasel words.
  2. The chatter moves the markets, but re-posting garbage to generate chatter *is* the problem.
  3. Fixed. Unverified twitter posts with "chatter" are misleading, pure garbage. It would be like me announcing an Eichel trade to the Rangers for some Pizza Hut coupons. "Chatter that some deep dish is in Eichel's future". If anybody reputable comes forward with that, post it. Otherwise, that's part of the "facebook sucks" problem. Twitter sucks too.
  4. I look at that Calgary roster and say... is that not far from the best they can actually muster? It looks kinda like their NHL regular season roster. And ours doesn't... lol. We've got two lines of NHL players and a goalie. Should be a fun watch, even if we're theoretically outmatched.
  5. He barely has a handle on scooping dog****. It's why when Dan Murphy has to talk to him in period breaks, in my least favourite segment that I call "Shut the ***k up Iain", I typically just go do something else. His last name puts the 'ac' in hack.
  6. It's gonna be fun at the end of the season going through that thread and rather glibly quoting a whoooole lot of analytics people.
  7. He's not small, just not 'huge' like we're used to the last few years. He plays aggressively to his strength which is his mobility and flexibility. Throwback style to guys who made saves rather than let the puck hit them.
  8. I've always wondered why 'most' people wave at the TV/Jumbo when they're on it rather than the camera putting them there. Just amuses me.
  9. That is the OEL I saw in Phoenix/Arizona. He's so fking smart off the play most of the time.
  10. That was Pittsburgh's "Neely". Or their "Naslund" I guess would work. Every team has at least 'one'. Washington had theirs with Erat/Forsberg. They "theoretically" won with the Jagr trade but also managed to lose which is an interesting one. The past has tons of them.
  11. Uhh... and? I'm talking 'on balance' of player transactions. Not 'targeting' a specific team.
  12. And even then they weren't really wrong about Grabner. It took him getting turfed off his second team after us to figure out where he could cut his niche and actually work at it. I call the Neely trade 'washed' at this point in time; Naslund for Stojanov was their 'Neely' so we're about even on balance for those. Win some, lose some. That's hockey.
  13. The announcers were pretty ass, not gonna lie. It's like John Garrett's homerism dialed up by double, but without the knowledge of ketchup applications.
  14. It's different from their first two shooters, the first who failed to shoot, and the second who failed to propel the puck faster than 2 mph. Shooting is novel.
  15. It's why I don't plan anything around it anymore. I'll watch it (yarrrr) if it's on and I got nothing else on the go, or in a bar, but I would simply watch something else if it wasn't on. They get no money from me. It's an entertainment product, like wrestling but with less theatrics sometimes. You'll never be disappointed if your expectations do not exist.
  16. It's gonna be like Vegas for a bit. They're gonna get every call, every time, for 3-5 years. It won't be 'just us' but we will by geography notice most. We just gotta get used to it.
  17. He shouldn't have had to make that play, puck was out.
  18. Unnecessary. Just add 'unwanted posters' to your blocked list. You don't see the trash they post, and are thus immune to it. There are a few who have managed to get onto that list over the years, and your interaction with an individual is proving one of my 'block' selections correct once again. In case you were wondering, you're obviously not on the list ... yet Anyways. How about that sportsball, eh?
  19. Covid year aside, I would absolutely *love* a chance to go to a pro training camp for just "opening day" as a "Joe" out-player amongst Pros and "almost Pros" just to illustrate the scale of the difference. Stay away from the battle drills and stuff where there's any risk at all of injuring the actual players, but do the puck drills and the fitness drills. Not play any of it off for laughs, make a genuine attempts to try to keep up with it. I think A) It'd be an interesting BTS 'media' feature and 2) Be hilarious for people to see how badly I'd fail at the bag skate in particular. And then probably puke anyway. Give "media" an actual story to ignore.
  20. Change is great! Change is bad! The only consistent: The backend admins groan, the users moan, and I am definitely not Shane Doan.
  21. MmmHmm. He knew the first one, out of context entirely (when even posting the context would do) would just fly. Disgusting.
  22. I've firmly said that they can sit out the season. It'd suck for us, but in the end they are just two (good) players on a TEAM. There's a reasonable contract for both of them - they're both going to get very, very wealthy through the course of their careers. If we overpay THEM, it closes our window. See: Oilers, Leafs, And every other team that can't build properly due to overpay. Hughes can't play defence, so he's not 'ever' over a 7.5m defenceman, because he should be subsidizing the guy to play actual defence beside him - who also needs to be paid. Pettersson is an injury question mark. He's a great player when playing, but he's already been hurt quite a few times, so a 'massive' deal that handcuffs us while he doesn't play doesn't interest either. Both guys should get Boeser/Dahlin level bridge deals. Prove you can stay healthy, prove you can actually be a rounded defenceman. I mean it's still $18 million. Greed is not good.
  23. If that's the case it's pretty **** as an activity. So the vets are 'taking it a bit easier' on technical and physical drills so they don't end up dying on the bag skate? Isn't that the opposite of what a coach would want in training camp? Particularly on day one?
