  1. If we change that to PAGR it sounds more like a useless motorola revive product name.
  2. Checking in - doing due diligence. Something I'd expect any decent GM to be doing. Find what they want. See if it works. Circle back in a month if they're still unsigned and see if they'll come cheaper. It's like selling a table on facebook.
  3. What an amazing trade for the habs. Instant first line... in a couple years in one draft.
  4. Can't fix the silly. Plenty of evidence out there proving 'new' sports facilities tend to bring new investment and and thus an increase in value. Plus, walking distance to something cool. That's one part I can't wait to be in Vancouver for. Sports tickets, even just nosebleeds with a couple brews that are affordable (except the nux lol).
  5. Cheers for this! I'll target the west end / londale I think, older buildings don't scare me, and yet it's still a "longer" walking distance to the action downtown when desired. Done a lot of looking around. Found one that I really like, hopefully I get it. Biking is easy, parking is available though not super plentiful. Parking passes can be in effect. Hate decals on my car though, but c'est la vie. Lots of learning curve for somebody going city from the country for so long. As for the rest, shows what I know though, I thought Gastown was still nice. Glad I asked.
  6. Oh one 'next question' - getting into the city to look at places is a hell of a trek. I might have 'one more' trip in before having to move, but it would be way too close to the goal line date anyway. Are there any *reputable* services for hire out there who can go around and do walkthroughs on zoom/facetime/etc? I realize it's not as good as doing it myself but... it's tough.
  7. I did a foot-based scouting trip and I noticed that. The true downtown core seemed less... appealing. I walked around Yaletown, it 'seemed nice' but looks can be deceiving. Does Vancouver consider that 'nearby area' as 'downtown' as well? Same with the western side just south of Stanley Park, on the bay? A) I do have a job lined up. Specifically why I'm coming to town, knowing the rental market is pretty nuts. I figure a 1BR place / 600 SQ FT is probably sufficient. Big enough for my king bed and a living room. Don't need a den or office or anything, just a 'not bachelor' room. C) I saw that. 2.4 in PoCo is pretty bad... - (how far is the commute?) I'm not buying now or for awhile. Got to make sure that I'm 'happy' back in the city. At least there's year round hockey for me to play again. How bad IS transit in rush hours? For seabus I saw it had bike 'parking' for riders - is that always full in the morning? I'm a very able cyclist and am used to -30/40 winters, so if it's a 10 min ride to the quay, seabus, then the 5 mins to the office in the bike lanes that'd be fine IF the seabus is reliable.
  8. Howdy. So, in an uncharacteristic move, I have decided to move to the city of Vancouver. I've been entirely out of the loop of Van life for a long, long time. Most of the information I can dig up online is "relatively" new but... the world changed in the last 4 years in many cases. Anybody got the "Today's news" cliff notes version of where to go, where to live, where NOT to live? I'll be renting for the first while (obviously, I wasn't a pro athlete) by myself. Mostly interested in 'good areas' for a condo. Was also thinking north shore and seabussing across. My work will be right centre downtown about 2 mins from downtown skytrain. So whatever ya got, happy to hear it. I lived in Edmonton for a couple years next to the gunfights in Alberta Avenue half a lifetime. And I'd rather avoid re-living that experience. Thanks!
  9. I have as well - I know that too well. If the 'top boss' sees that lizard because they're engaged and aware, they can work around it. I've also seen in the corporate world that lizards are a necessary evil. They're really good at spotting other lizards, so if you've got one and know it, keep it around because it'll flush the others out for you.
  10. You can't get a true feel for a situation or a person without direct interaction. Indirect (relying on others) can give "A picture" but not "the picture" as it relates to you. It's why the best bosses are the ones who are willing and able to muck in when the time comes to do that. It's not their JOB to do it, but sometimes it's needed. The connection with "how it is on the ground" goes a LONG ways. Being accessible as "the boss" means if there's a pain point or something it can be addressed quickly rather than bogging the works down. If this is the new way forward, it's the right way forward and I'm more optimistic than I was yesterday.
  11. Making the playoffs. That's something we were not doing before. After 8 years of "we're doing nothing and we're all out of ideas", I'm stoked to see 'something different'. Whether it works or not... remains to be seen. But doing exactly what we were doing got us nowhere, so the shakeup is worth it. What's the worst that could happen? We don't make the playoffs?
  12. Your CF% on that comment shows you have negative influence in the defensive zone. You should be traded for a bag of pucks and the corpse of Michael Grabner because he was fast and shoots lots at the goalie. (I too loathe analytics. They're just stats - pick what you want to tell the story you want to tell...)
  13. Other way around these days. Langford is lovely, Vic is turning into a ****hole. But none of the residents will either see or acknowledge that... or their definition of ****hole is different from the traditional one. Vic has lovely 'spots' that raise the rest of the average. That's about it.
  14. "ABT" - anyone but Toronto. Except Edmonton. But with their defence and goaltending we don't have to worry about that anyway.
  15. I've heard it was a sore back from carrying the team for large chunks of the season.
  16. Even this one is a fun ride. It's got enough pep to do highway speeds easily, and grunt to haul my fat arse up the dirt roads / tracks too. Surprisingly comfortable. The 1250 has more bells, whistles and poop though. A lot more. lol. The best part about dual sporting on the dirt is (apart from just riding out, having fun, riding home) there aren't any minivans or minivan drivers making text&drive left turns without looking, out in the sticks.
  17. F700GS - My first on-road motorcycle. Had an 85 Yamaha XT125 that I learned on years ago, but decided to step up. Dual sport all the way. I'm chasing the big boy BMW 1250GS now, but that'll be in a couple more years.
  18. They should stop with the 5 forwards. Well, 4 forwards and Hughes. So same thing. It's like they don't read the puck going the other way at all, like "oh the other guy will get it".
  19. **** me Boeser is a passenger. And not even a good one, one of those ones that falls asleep and leans over drooling.
  20. Canucks kinda have a spirit of beer league about them this game. Sloppy passes, poor shot attempts. It’s like they just… arent there.
  21. So, you know what we did? We just "Backup'd" the favourite. Remember when that always seems to happen to us? Get beat by the rookie/backup/3rd stringer? Feels nice to do that to somebody else. Especially the Avs.
  22. RAM Trucks: Best initial quality. Marketing translation: “Didn’t fall apart in the factory as we were expecting from a FiatChrysler Product” Oh, right, the game. Sorry, my focus level was about the same as the Canucks. And my mindedness about trucks is Small, like the Canucks size, and my wit was kinda slow there, like the Canucks skating speed.
