Aside from Friedman and Juice, that panel needed a huge overhaul. It was painful to watch intermissions and post-games with HNIC at times with that group with McLean, Stewart, Hrudey, and Botterill. I'd rather HNIC give a more increased roll to Jeff Marek, David Amber, who present more professional and less ego based.

[Signing] Bruins sign Jesper Boqvist
CRAZY_4_NAZZY replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Good deal for Boston, made some real good bets in Geekie and now Boqvist. If Bergeron and Krejci don't return, they may have to score by committee up the middle. -
[Signing] Coyotes sign Travis Dermott

Dermott was a good guy...happy for him. Sorta wished we had taken the gamble to re-sign him to that deal. I think he has more to give. -
Bring back Motte.

Is it really that bad that he wears number 28? I mean Bourdon also wore number 4 when he first started and his first number was 40 when he joined the organization for his first camp. Why aren't those numbers semi retired then? I get we remember Luc as he passed away tragically but wearing that number does not disrespect the legacy he had here in Vancouver. Legit, we will all pass away at some point, including the players. Is this organization really going to semi retire every single number then? At that point its going to be hard to have numbers on jerseys moving forward. Remember the player and their legacy and move on. There are far more important and greater issues to be concerned about in this world than a player wearing someone else's number. Some people need to get a grip.

2023 Canucks Development Camp

It seems like Team Samuelsson is quite stacked with the top level prospects compared to Team Komisarek. Would have liked to have seen a more even spread of talent. -
Definitely can see it as a move that entrusts and engenders faith in Podkolzin could very well be a confidence boost. I heard over the radio and reading Ben Kuzma's breakdown of Podkolzin's season was that he was feeling low in confidence. He seems to be a player that needs the confidence in order to play with the courage and gumption we saw from him in the latter half of his rookie season. I think right now you want Podz to think less about his game...and play on confidence and instinct. I think putting at center and very unfamiliar position will make him get in his own head about things. I agree with you, his defensive awareness, vision, and IQ how to use his stick in all three zones makes him a strong candidate to be a center, but I think it may just be a step too early for that development right now. Definitely agree though, being able to add faceoff ability despite being a winger would be great, reminds me a lot of Boeser when he would take faceoffs for North Dakota on his strongside on the powerplay. He was strong, had a flat blade, and seemed to win more on the strongside made him a dual threat. Podkolzin could certainly diversify his repertoire for sure. I ultimately think the strengths that he possesses such as courage, brute strength, relentlessness, and stick placement smarts make him more ideal as a winger under Tocchet's system.

As much as I would love to see Podz used at center, he also provides something that only Joshua and Mikheyev bring on the wings is a heaviness and ability to win puck battles. Knowing Tocchet's style, they will do everything to help him hone in on those skills to be an effective board battling winger. Moving him to center when he already lacks confidence to be a consistent winger would only be detrimental to his development.

Will be interesting how the team handles this now...if Pearson is not earmarked for LTIR - Canucks really have no more cap space if they fill out a 23 man roster. Still have to sign Hirose and Hoglander, will be interesting they they approach the glut of wingers they have.

Dhaliwal said on twitter that Tristian Nielsen set to sign an NHL deal but didn''t say it was with Vancouver. -
I know that the allegations of Ian Cole grooming a young female was dropped, Ian Cole also had another allegation while in Carolina where he cheated on his own wife with one of the Carolina Hurricanes beat reporters who was engaged. https://www.hawksinsider.com/BREAKING-Reporters-Wedding-Canceled-After-Caught-Cheating-With-Hurricanes-Player-140421 https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/looking-to-leave-cheating-scandal-behind-ian-cole-signs-with-tampa Its a no for me with Ian Cole.

I think he will be here on opening night lineup. The lack of trade movement and willingness to pay to get off of his contract makes me feel they will be patient and let things playout. IMO, Garland has so much more to give, last year was disappointing from him, but I think a more defined role under Tocchet will let us see Garland at his best again.
