  1. Thought he finished the season strong, you could see his tenacity and speed on the forecheck. However, needs to add muscle and strength to win more board battles. I'd like him to come in and steal that 4RW spot but part of me wonders because the final 10 games he took a lot of faceoffs too, almost average 7 per game. I wonder if they are looking to use him at center, he had a better faceoff winning % than Aman.
  2. Hopefully Burroughs doesn't feel slighted, that it has taken this long to finally get a call from the team. I really do hope he stays. Just a great soldier amongst many BC boys who have suited up for us.
  3. Whats hilarious is that we finally got rid of Luongo's recapture penalty, than assumed Holtby's and Virtanen's buyout, and now as that ends, OEL's buyout begins. Its like we like having dead cap for fun
  4. 6 months?!? That would be like mid to late December before he would be cleared to play. He would've missed a lot of hockey and training time to get in shape and improve his game. That is like half the season right there. Now its about rehab and getting his shoulder back to strength, rather than building and finding growth in his game. I like Bear personally, but that is brutal news. This franchise needs to have players hitting the ground running and at full speed, to not equate another season like the past two. Not sure I'd be willing to pay him 2+ mil at this point let alone giving him term. Man a huge miscalculation on Bear's part and it significantly hurts us now.
  5. Not sure I'd be willing to give him more than a 1 year deal at this point. Still a lot he needs to prove before you make a sizeable bet on him long term. Not a great gamble by him going to the Worlds without a deal in place. Certainly now opens a door for the likes of Woo, Juulsen, and others to outshine him now.
  6. I just want Vegas to win tonight so that its officially the offseason....and finally see the Canucks do something.
  7. I remember one year David Carle had a heart condition, was scouted to go between the 2nd and 3rd round and the NHL combine medical testing help find a heart issue that led him to retire from hockey before being drafted. Sometimes the combine helps teams find out the medical history of players. https://www.milehighhockey.com/2020/1/19/21072825/led-by-the-youngest-coach-in-ncaa-hockey-du-players-have-a-special-bond-with-coach-david-carle Carle was committed to play for Denver and was projected to be a high draft pick in the 2008 NHL Draft. However, during routine medical testing at the NHL combine, doctors found Carle’s heart was slightly enlarged, and he was subsequently diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Carle was still drafted in the seventh round to the Tampa Bay Lightning but was forced to retire upon his diagnosis.
  8. Will be interesting to see how July unfolds for the Abbotsford Canucks, they will have a very young roster next season. One player to keep an eye on is Tristan Nielsen. His 2 year AHL year has expired, and considering he has signed yet likely means he is hoping he will find an NHL deal come July. Would be tough to lose him as he was 4th in scoring for the Canucks last season.
  9. Following up VC's original post for those who don't have the Athletic: this was in Harman Dayal's article
  10. Tocchet and Allvin clearly stated they wanted a 3C who can win draws and play a more grittier style. Jost doesn't fit any of those things for us.
  11. Peeke's game reminds me of Tucker Poolman. He is meh.
  12. I feel LA Kings would be the best fit for Dubois. He seems like he wants to go to a bigger market and be the face of the franchise. LA has the assets to acquire him, LA will want a succession plan for Kopitar, and the market there would fully embrace him considering they are in a win now mode.
  13. Looks like Danny Briere has been given the green light to do a full on rebuild. Goes to show, clearing significant cap space comes at a significant cost. Not sure Canucks can do that sort of cap clearing with that sort of cost.
  14. Seeing how Matthew Tkachuk has been a difference maker in the playoffs, and every team is looking for a player of his ilk, I feel Ryan Leonard's stock will rise. He plays a very similar style to Matthew Tkachuk. Just so skilled but has a package of abrasiveness to his game that makes him an absolute thorn.
  15. I dont think he wants to come back. I think the way Jim and Patrick operated with the Bruce Boudreau issue really rubbed Schenn the wrong way.
  16. If this is true, need to use it as a way to move out "term" contracts. Garland, Boeser, OEL, Poolman are the guys you need to try and sell with that move. Beauvillier, Myers, Pearson are guys that can gain value at the TDL either for a cup run piece for another team or cap space for Pearson's LTIR room.
  17. Whatever, shows he had zero desire to work for a spot. imply wanted it gift wrapped to him. We dont need him..we need players who are committed.
  18. Leave it to Kelly Hrudey to emphasize a player that has had little effect on the game and sing his praises because of being a former Flame.
  19. Carolina's depth guys Noesen, Martinook, Statsny, and Fast have been a difference makers so far in the playoffs. Carolina's players just buy in, know what their roles are, and play it to a tee.Love how discipline they are as a group.
  20. I like that Ryan Johnson has retained AKL and Gatcomb. Very functional depth pieces that can play meaningful minutes when called upon. They both were physical factors for the Canucks in the playoffs.
  21. For those very same reasons, I don't expect him to be available at 11. Most scouting lists have him outside the top 10, but considering the scarcity of right handed dman in this draft, especially those who can be a difference maker, he will go higher than people anticipate. Last year you saw Kevin Korchinski go to Chicago at 8 when he was ranked anywhere from 12-early 20's. Mobile dman are a premium, especially a right handed dman.
