  1. Do you want a better view? Canucks GM records Brian Burke 219-181-68-24 Dave Nonis 130-91-25 Mike Gillis 261-183 - 51 Jim Benning 233 - 257- 63 Bring out your calculator or abacus and tell us what Bennings win percentage compared to the other 3. Im not gonna even put Pat Quinn's name in there considering its an insult to even have his name attached to any comparison in relation to Jim Benning. Burke, Nonis, Gillis, and Quinn all have banners in Rogers arena. Granted Jim Benning should have one. The jersey thrown on the ice should be hung up there, marking an end of the most pathetic 8 seasons this city has ever seen
  2. I'll agree with you on that one LOL I suspect if Brock is going to be kept, his contract will probably be 6.5 range and will probably include a longer term. Boeser is not at that point where he can turn down a long term offer thats somewhat in his QO range. If he goes in the open market, I don't think he's going to get 7.5
  3. Way too early to tell, and Im not a huge fan of Guenther, but you'll never know. Just because the guy is playing in the AHL right away, that no guarantee he's going to pan out. Lind and Gadjovich have been seemingly doing well when they were in our farm team, so far, their careers don't look very promising
  4. Can't wait to see what JR does to transform this team out of the embaressment we've had the last 8 seasons. He's made some questionable moves in Pittsburgh (good gawd Pearson for Gudbranson?) but those Stanley cup rings speak volumes. Just by the way he's formed his management team, I really like where this team is heading. IMO, i think we are getting that 1st class organization shine back ever since JR has been on board
  5. Not to mention that fact that he waived his no trade clause to go to WINNIPEG pretty much sums it up. I agree, I don't think Schmidt was an upgrade over Tanev. Im actually suprised how well Tanev has played in Calgary, good for him
  6. LOL just spending money left and right on garbage players like Jason Dickenson. We got the double loss on that one. Traded a 3rd, signed him to a 3 year deal and hes contributed nothing. He was brought in to play centre, defensively sound and PK and hes atrocious in all of that
  7. It is depth wise. Its not as legendary as the Kesler draft but its there some good players after 20. If theres a year to tank, its NEXT season when Bedard and Michkov are in the draft
  8. Goal scorers are rare yes, but thats the 35 - 40 goal + variety LOL. You make it sound like Brock is a rare commodity, a guy thats NEVER scored 30 goals. To put in perspective if he's such a rare commodity, he's on pace for about 25 goals. Theres 2 other guys in our team currently in that pace and another 2 will be close. I hardly think Brock is elite The reasons why we are more likely to move Miller than Boeser is because Boeser's value is nowhere near as high, and he's got no leverage commanding 7.5 million on a long term deal. Point a game guy like Miller, that plays centre, can play PP and PK, he's going to command top dollar Brock Boeser has only had one playoff run. Lets not carried away here that he's all of a sudden Johan Franzen or Peter Forsberg, who turns into an absolute juggernaut in the playoffs
  9. Like Aaron Rodgers. Great QB, but just a dumba$$ human being. He did his own "research" and presented it to the NFL and they pretty much threw it back at his face. Its the kind of world we live in unfortunately that people who can type google all of a sudden have a phd in science over Anthony Fauci whos been dealing with diseases and viruses for decades
  10. Brad Shaw has taken over coaching the Dmen, so its made a difference. He's basically undoing the mess Baumer made. Another reason Schenn is doing good might be just simply chemistry. There is something about the way Schenn plays that just meshes with Hughes. A top end D-man doesn't necessarily need another top end guy to be successful. Brian Leetch's best years were paired with amongst all the other guys, Jeff Beukaboom who is basically a Dana Murzyn, Gerald Diduck in Canuck terms. Im not sure why our dolt of a GM let go of Schenn in the first place considering how well he played here his first go around.
  11. Theres an arguement to be made that if you put factor in salary, statistics, availabiltiy, theres a strong case that Gudbranson is probably the worst player to wear a Canuck uniform in the last 20 years
  12. Yup. Honestly i would not trade Schenn for anything else than a 1st or 2nd round pick. Its over payment yes, but a team would have to blow us away to get Schenn out of our hands, not that 5th- 6th round crap. Schenn for what he's getting paid has pretty much exceeded his pay grade, AND he's under contract for another season. You don't trade Schenn for flexibility, if anything, hes the part of the season for cap flexibility
  13. Exactly. Miller has a lot of leverage in his contract and his value. If Rangers think they are a JT Miller away from winning a cup, they better be ponying up some top end assets because, like you mentioned, if they wont do it, somebody else will. Miller would wreck havoc in the east.
  14. Geezus if we land Lafrenier and K'andre miller, to hell with the 1st round pick Can we really get Severson and Zacha? Maybe 1 but not both. I can see Severson maybe 1 for 1, more like a lateral move
  15. You do have something to add to this forum. Who really gives a rats a$$ what other CDCers think of your opinion? You said your piece, it started a talking point, its what this forum is for right? Frankly it sounds like you got more stuff going on other than what the Canucks are doing, so hope you get well soon. Dont ever let some piece of trash like VegasCanuck, WeneedLumme or Dazzle, I dunno who else to name thats the scum of CDC, who tend to attack people personally when opinions don't match theirs (and the fact they are massive Benning fanboys) As for your topic, it will all depend on JTs demand come deadline. I've posted before, the Canucks can easily hold off till the off season to trade Miller. Teams will be able to manage their cap to fit his contract, so I don't think that extra playoff run makes a difference in his value. His numbers speak for themselves, point a game player that plays top line C, we will get a kings ransom whether its from the Rangers or someone else
  16. Didn't like the trade for Gudbranson, I think we just got lucky on that one getting offered Pearson. I would've taken a gift card to the Keg if it meant getting rid of Gudbranson
  17. and with consent. A certain former Canuck has no clue what that means
  18. I'd want 1 but not both. The other piece has to be a D-man
  19. So you're saying teams are just relying on draft picks making it straight to the roster, and the rest of the draft picks that don't make it, meh to hell with them. Thats fine, if you want to be the Senators, or Sabres, but GOOD teams also get players developed from the farm. Abby clearly hasn't developed much players considering guys like Hunt, Chiasson, Dowling for some reason are employed with the Canucks. You millenials and your zingers. Try harder.
  20. Thats not guaranteed. Lind, Gaudette and Gadjovich were all good players in the farm, all are barely playing as we speak. People should temper their expectations on young players thinking just because their doing well in the lower leagues, doesn't necessarily mean theyre NHL bound. The farm had enough time to develop Lind, Gadj and to a lesser extent Juolevi so theres clearly something wrong down there. Hopefully JR and Alvin will fix the situation. But yeah, Id rather see Lockwood up here rather than that trash Chiasson
  21. If you move a few pieces out like Dickinsons contract, maybe even Myers, I have no doubt we can meet JTs $ amount. The problem is the term. The Miller camp is going to want 6 - 8 years on that deal, and i'd figure we get 3 - 4 good years from that, the rest its possibly all down hill. Add the fact we have another albatross contract on the downslope by that time (OEL), its a very very risky move.
  22. If thats the case, Bryam, a 1st , plus another asset better be heading this way. Friedman mentioned that any big deal that is rumored, Colorado wants in. The Avs are right in their window and are out for blood to win the cup
  23. Boeser won't get the same haul as a Miller trade would. Boeser has no leverage whatsoever to be commanding 7.5 million, no team would pay him that unless their GM is stupid. He could probably take a deal around the 6 range here unless of course he wants to leave. Miller on the other hand, numbers speak for themselves and he's a centre, and we aren't even factoring the intangibles. Miller is more than deserving of a contract that has a floor of 8 million per
  24. I think they will, at least for the playoffs. I can understand the reasoning for it in the regular season as they don't want the morning games to bleed towards the afternoon games. In the playoffs, both teams should have a possesion, not just TD and its over.
  25. They'll beat the Chiefs this weekend
