  1. F-ing great movie. Cage stole the show, defintely outdid Travolta
  2. It makes a big difference. The 2011 team had great faceoff guys like Kesler, a not too shabby Henrik Sedin and an absolutely dominant Manny Malhotra. When Manny was healthy, he would not only be in the top PK but Vigneault would deploy him STRICTLY just for faceoffs in the 2nd unit PP. Like he'd take the draw and change, hence he was a big part of that team which was top 3 PP and PK. When you win draws, especially with a great centre who wins a lot, your special teams benefit because they have the puck. Thats 10 seconds of puck possession to score, or to kill a penalty
  3. Covid has nothing to do with Jimbo not signing Tanev and Toffoli. If you recall, the teams first move during FA season was signing Holtby to 4.2 million. Seriously? A backup goalie to get that much $$ is absurd. That 4.2 is almost as much as Toffoli went for in MTL. And while keeping Toffoli's camp in a holding pattern, Jimbo was trying to facilitate a trade for OEL and ended up getting Schmidt. Tanev went for 4.5 to Calgary, Schmidts contract was 5.9. So to summarize, instead of Tanev and Toffoli, Jim has managed to replace them with players that added very little to the team, but cumulatively cost more towards the cap. To say that covid is an excuse is BS, clearly as we saw, Benning had money spend, and he didn't do it wisely, what else is new?
  4. Oh yeah Gillis was not without his faults. I heavily criticized Gillis on his drafting, and have said he had his draft boards upside down LOL but compared to the Benning regime? I would take crappy drafts and winning over the great drafts and losing any day of the week
  5. He looked good last season but with Olli, seems like when he's getting the ball rolling, he gets injured and takes not one but 2 or 3 steps back. As bad as we were last season, he was hardly our worst D-man in most nights
  6. I didn't like the pick from the beginning. Tkachuk was rated as high as number 2 going into that draft, CBJ basically threw everyone in a loop getting Pierre Luc Dubois. Yes we needed a Dman, but we also needed a prick in our team. We didn't have that a$$hole like a Burrows, a Kesler that would score goals and muck it up after the whistle, we needed that. Talent will always trump positional needs. If its equal Talent, then go positional which isn't the case with Tkachuk and Juolevi. Juolevi and Sergachev was basically a toss up coming into the draft
  7. You act as if i care about your opinion LOL Keep your pompoms in the prospects forum fanboy
  8. add to the fact that we TRADED a 3rd round pick and signed Dickenson, and added Tucker Poolman. Thats 5.5 million worth of trash we added to the cap which could've been JT Miller and Brock Boesers raises. Typical Jimbo. No cap room is ever safe
  9. PK did some tv work for junior games during the lock out. If he hangs up his skates, I could see him sliding in on hockey night's panel. The guy has the look and an electric personality
  10. Had the OEL trade happened AFTER the bubble, ok understandable, you want to keep the momentum going. But to happen after a dissappointing season? Clearly the team wasn't as good as we thought. Its a simple case of a dumba$$ GM throwing hail marys to keep his job
  11. Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton better buckle up. Their lives and their bank accounts are about to change in a major way
  12. Wonder if Aaron Donald retires, somehow Von makes his way back to Mile High now that we got Russ on the helm
  13. Seahawks have too many holes on both sides of the ball. At the very least, Rodgers, Mahomes have a good supporting cast, not just on offence
  14. Not could, he is the greatest Seahawk of them all
  15. on paper yes, but those draft picks aren't as good as they seem. This draft coming up has no franchise QBs, they'll have to wait till 2023 for Ewer or Arch Manning, and by that time, the Broncos pick will be late.
  16. I dont think so, Canucks have some players, just need to trim out the fat like the Dickensons and Poolmans. Seattle is tearing the house down
  17. Would've loved to have kept Fant, but no biggie as we finally got a QB. TEs are much easier to find. Now if there was some way my Broncos can get Bobby Wagner...
  18. 10 million isn't far fetched at all. But ive said before, its the term thats the issue. 10 million 4 years? sure! But hell no Miller camp takes that, they want the guaranteed 9 million X 8. Why play for 40 million when theres easily someone that will offer up 72 million plus
  19. Which stocks are these? Can we even purchase some since their market is closed since the war?
  20. I was round that time as well thanks No doubt Gillis needed to be fired. The team needed to be remade, but guess what, that happens. Any team thats been a powerhouse team whether its the Canucks, Kings, Blackhawks, whoever eventually has to climb down the mountain. Thats why Benning was hired. To build a team thats going to challenge for a cup. Did that happen? Nope. We werent challenging for anything. He had 8 years to get this team to at least be trending upwards and sadly he didn't. Luongo, Scheider situation, I'll agree Gillis messed that up Torts failure, but don't kid yourself that Travis Greens or Desjardin's tenures were any successful either. Torts team finished 25th in the league. This is where the Canucks were after "Bennings" first playoff run, 28th, 29th, 26th, 23rd, 17th, 24th in league standings, and the first quarter of this season, this team was on pace to be the WORST team in Canucks history, even rivaling that of the Keenan days. How is that any better exactly than Torts? Yeah there were Fire Gillis chants but nowwhere close to the Fire Benning chants which lasted for weeks, with Aquallini constantly criticized and tweeting. You act as if player morale was all high in the Benning era especially in the last few seasons when guys like Miller are clapping back at coaches, and criticizing management of their handing of the covid crisis. Worst vibes in Canucks history lol, again exaggeration. Yeah for one year, don't think anybody was complaining when the team was making the playoffs and trying to win the cup You know what alienates fanbases as well? Constantly losing, not having a plan on the teams direction. Benning says he'll build through the draft and yet signs boneheaded players for long contracts. He tells the fans that they are working hard to sign to Toffoli, and it doesn't follow though since Jimbo has such a hard time communicating with player agents unless it involves bending over and overpaying for contracts. Why don't you read up on Toffoli's players tribune. Yeah, real proffesional Again, nitpicking again on Gillis failures and yet not even mentioning of Brandon Sutter, Louie Ericsson, Jay Beagle etc. how a rebuilding team is for some strange reason is mired in cap problems. Clearly theres a bias Yeah what has hope gotten us exactly the last 8 seasons? LOL
  21. Oh you mean missing the playoffs once before getting canned? Yeah real downward spiral. Unlike your boy Jimbo whos rattled off 4 seasons of missing the playoffs in a row Yeah you should move on
  22. I wouldnt either. JT is well deserving of an 8 x 8 or 8 x 9.5. Numbers speak for themselves the last few seasons. Miller owes us nothing, hes going to do whats best for him and his family
  23. I wouldn't put any stock on any opinion Dazzle has. He's the queen of the Jim Benning fanclub. Its the usual he's the best drafter and yet comes up with excuses on Benning's failures on why we still aren't a wild card team. Apparently the best measure of a GM to him is just drafting, and other factors like free agent signings, trades, managing the cap, WINNING records are irrelavant And gawd no, Benning is no Yzerman, Holland, Dean Lombardi, Ray Shero, not remotely close. If people are going to be comparing Benning to past NHL GMs, he'd be in line with the Mike Milbury's of the world. Milbury had a few 1st round hits but managed to screw his team over with dumba$$ trades and signings that we have been all to familiar here the last 7 seasons
  24. To think Bennings best year was his first, his ONLY 100 pt, no wait, his ONLY 90pt team came when the team was primarily still Gillis's. Mike Keenan is heavily considered the worst GM this team has had, and if you took away Benning's 1st season, his record is actually WORST than Keenan's if you can believe that
