  1. This was a major announcement for the accounting staff. Great, I guess. Most fans were disappointed though I'd imagine.
  2. I believe we are now at the 'Rick Ley' phase of this Canuck's team. Let's hope this ends a little better.
  3. Would a few more assistant GM's help, possibly?
  4. Probably going to need a 'hardline' coach to come in and restore order if they think they have another kick at the can in the next few years. Not sure what options are open for that type of bench boss though.
  5. Nonis did a lot more for the club then people gave him credit for.
  6. Lots of positivity, which is good. I'd recommend slightly tempering the enthusiasm though. Anytime a player gets this hyped by CDC we tend to get vengeful when they don't meet our expectations...then they become the whipping boy for anything & everything that happens during the season. Wishing this guy all the best and hopefully he's the kind of forward that can drive play.
  7. Price will be too high. Retaining him in a couple years will be even worse. Pass.
  8. Does it seem like he'll have the jam to do the 3rd line C role if he gets a shot with the big club? Tends to be a pretty physical position.
  9. Legend. RAY LIOTTADEAD AT 67 EXCLUSIVE DETAILS 174.1K 5/26/2022 9:15 AM PT REMEMBERING RAY LIOTTALAUNCH GALLERY Getty Ray Liotta is dead ... the actor passed away while in the Dominican Republic. Ray was shooting a movie called "Dangerous Waters" on the island, and a source close to the actor tells TMZ ... he died in his sleep. We're also told there was nothing suspicious about the death, and no foul play is suspected. Ray's fiancée Jacy Nittolo was with him in the D.R. while he was working on the project. Deadline first reported his passing. Liotta is most known for his starring role in the 1990 Martin Scorsese masterpiece, "Goodfellas," where he played mobster Henry Hill alongside Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. Ray lobbied hard for the role, and the film's success opened so many doors for him in Hollywood ... he worked almost nonstop. The year before "Goodfellas" he had co-starred with Kevin Costner in another iconic film, "Field of Dreams" ... in which he played Shoeless Joe Jackson. Ray went on to star in countless other films, including "Cop Land," "Corrina Corrina," "Operation Dumbo Drop," "Unforgettable," "Wild Hogs" and "Blow" ... in which he played Fred Jung, father to Johnny Depp's character, George Jung. Play video content11/11/19 THE LAST TIME WE SAW HIM TMZ.com Jacy and Ray got engaged in 2020, right around Christmas. He excitedly shared the happy news on Instagram. He has one daughter, Karsen Liotta, from his previous marriage to Michelle Grace. Karsen is following in her dad's acting footsteps. Ray was 67. RIP
  10. I've been to the States a few times. This was always the thing that got me the most lol.
  11. Done. Keeping my head down over here but I will try and keep this up to date.
  12. Back in the day my brother would turn the sound off on the TV and put the radio commentator on. Was a bit of disjointedness but overall it wasn't too bad. Not sure if this is even possible anymore.
  13. What was his LTIR retirement party for again? Equipment allergy or something like that? Great player, he burned the Canucks constantly...but kind of a weird way to go out (cap circumvention, obviously).
  14. I don't know. If you put McDavid with the 80's Oilers and had cement-head keeping an eye on him to make sure nobody touched him....that probably would have been some magic too.
  15. When Juolevi got traded I remarked that this could be the beginning of the rebuilds rebuild. Apparently management is still dragging their heels on that front. I think a fan referendum and vote needs to take place so FA can clearly see what the fans want, and if its more of the same 10+ years of badness then so be it...but at least we will know where we stand.
  16. Didn't the Canucks just hire a whole bunch of upper management including female AGM's that were itching to make their mark in the NHL? Maybe we are just playing the long game but I feel like we could have at least gotten some picks. Feels more like a Benning deadline.
  17. Good career, always thought he was better than Thomas. Kind of looks like Theon Greyjoy.
  18. Common sense approaches by both Bure and Heff. I could support either of them, and would at a referendum. Running a nation has never been a simple task and is just getting more complicated as people and technology evolve. Having some standards applied to a candidate may reduce the amount of detritus government seems to collect in the modern era.
  19. It's a gamble. Could either pay off for the government or further galvanize support for the movement (especially in international reporting). Not sure how it will shake out, but you'd have to think that the nominal leaders of the various convoy groups have been considering this for some time. Curious to see if this is the fuse that lights the powderkeg that really shakes up the status quo.
  20. Like an actual meritocracy. It would certainly create an efficient society, but I could see politicians of every party resisting a system like this every step of the way....so naturally it is probably one of the better fits
  21. Ranked ballots is interesting, I've read through it a few times...not sure I totally grasp all of it (but that could be said of numerous things in my life). What I've seen though, makes sense to my limited understanding. The GDP idea that Bure had is interesting as well, although I have friends in the maritimes that would be furious at such an approach.
