Okay you go ahead but I think your missing the point. The tone has the same feel for what ownership wants for the past three regimes. They own the team they can do what they want but is it or has it been a successful formula? I think it’s proven it’s not. Cutting corners to just make the playoffs for more revenue.

Look... I understand your consternation around the new management.  Not so much because of them, but as you mentioned the past couple admins.  The benning group really threw us for a loop.  They drafted half decently (compared to previous regimes... Which isn't hard lol!) But otherwise it was a $&!# show for 8 years.

However, what are we supposed to do?  In my view, the new management has a clean slate to prove their worth.  I believe they're doing their due diligence.  That takes time usually and the market has a say as well.  I think we'll have a trade very soon... And we'll be happy enough with the return.

    Cheers

I find it funny when someone e suggests fans need to be patient. We were patient with the Benning era, we were patient in the Gillis era. It’s coming up 53 years without a cup. That is patience. Tampa Bay has three cups  since 1992. Stop with the be patient attitude. When ownership and management continually go with the retool on the fly, which hasn’t worked yet  or even come close. The fact is our cupboards in terms of prospects and assets shouldn’t be this bare after the lack of success but here we are and we still hear let’s rebuild/retool yet again. 53 years is way too long. We have been patient. It’s the importance of revenue for ownership that has taken over. If they were more patient we would have a competitive team making them lots of money by now in the playoffs. They almost deserve what they have gotten or lost as I see it.

Well geeze... You're right.  We have the right to be miserable sob's!  What was I thinking?!  It has been 54 years and no cups!!  On that note, lets storm Rodgers place with our canuck flags a flying.  Hold that geriatric old man and that soft Swede GM hostage and make them make some trades because I'm not going to wait one minute longer... It's been 54 years!!!!   Wait... First I need to go outside and....

My preference is to re-sign JT however if we do trade him, I hope it's to Carolina or NY Rangers.

It's an arms race over there.

I'd prefer jt stay as well.  However as most are aware, keeping him and Horvat looks to be to difficult.  So yah, I don't think Rangers are still in BUT Carolina looks to need some help after losing both trocheck and neiderrieter.

    Edit:

I know they got patchs which is a big upgrade on wing but their center depth is a little thin imho.  But a good trading partner?

Too bad our management decided to go to the fetal position.

    You sure that's not you?

Time will tell if this ends up being a great trade or not.  But Treliving did well all things considered.

The nucks aren't in the same position the fLames were.  So they can afford to be patient.  To many here, like yourself aren't patient enough.  It's now down to Kadri and Miller.  Movement will happen soon.

There's a quote in the comments from his book that really, really doesn't make this look good for him.  Won't post it due to language.

I read it... Doesn't sound good at all, but doesn't implicate him directly.  Regardless, it does paint a picture of the overall disrespectful attitudes these players had at that time.

That's not how life works. You don't get to tell other people who enjoy an openly public thing to " Find another one " because YOU want it a certain way... lol

Kinda sounds like a freedumb fighter

    thing to say

If I'm a freedumb fighter then I guess that makes you a Karen?  Or part of the cancel culture?

Look, my point is, I don't believe you need a Marchant type of player to win a cup anymore. I guess you think you do.  Grit and toughness is one thing and turtle, dirty intent to injure is another.  Agree to disagree.

Problem is we arent built that way for now.  We are a finesse team that relies on hockey IQ and talent over grit, hustle and determination. I would love for us to become more like the Blues, but chances are we won’t, especially with Allvin and Sedins in mgmt roles.

As such, we definitely need to roster a few determined agitators to balance the quality of players we do have.

you look at most recent Stanley Cup Champs and there are a few guys on those teams that play right on the line.

Kucherov, Kadri, Landeskog…all examples of tenacious, top 6 players. (Kucherov alone is considered amongst the top 15 dirtiest players in the league by many).

that doesn’t even factor in the role players on the 3rd and 4th lines who are aggressive yet responsible.

we don’t have any of that in our top 6 at the moment, and we certainly are lacking that in our 3rd/4ths as well, for now anyway. Hopefully Joshua can maintain a spot on the 4th and his presence translates into solid PK and turnover work.

yes Joshua, Lazar, and Lockwood are a start.  Not dirty... Maybe on the edge?  But definitely hard to play against.  I agree we need are are starting to get players that play a tougher, grittier brand of hockey... And we may need a couple more.

There's no way to verify that.

Even if true, great, but that doesn't really accomplish much for us.

What?... Like a 'character metre' to scientifically prove level of character?  Lol!  No you're right we can't... I don't know, I just watch and listen to how the players conduct themselves on and off the ice.  From what I've seen to this point, these guys are nothing but quality humans. You don't see selfish play on ice, no obvious cheap shots, or intent to injure.  They play the right way... I'll take that over dirty, selfish players any day.

Not sure why you're comparing him to Miller, it's Boeser that everywhere here is comparing Laine to (for whatever reason).

But yes, right now, I'd rather have Miller if I'm trying to win. In a few years though, that might not be the case.

I was using an example of the most volatile... Sometimes slightly questionable character player.  Whereas boeser, petey, podkolzin, Horvat, Demko...  Etc all have high character.  We have no low character players on the nucks.

Rats win cups, Our angels in the community tactic turns us into the most passive team. Aka No identity imo

Then be a Boston fan.... I don't want rat players or rat fans.  That's the way you used to win cups... As a matter of fact... Boston was the last teams filled with goons and rats to win the cup.  I want a team more modeled after the Blues.  Hard to play against, no quit, gritty, with skill, tons of character and will beat you by working harder and the right way.  You can keep your Boston model thanks.

Happy to see CBJ retain their star talent, which could turn out to be a steal if he has chemistry with Gaudreau.

Meanwhile Dubois wants out of Winnipeg. CBJ doing very well with their trades lately.

All 3 of these guys of these guys mentioned have questionable character... Super high skill, low character.  Teams are paying for their past numbers, skill and potential but I think teams need to change their idea how they weight or measure value of a player.

Miller has more character then all these guys combined.... And that's including his little temper tantrum from time to time.  Who would you want to go to battle with and have your back?  Isn't that worth a lot?  Me thinks so.  Even with there numbers don't want them on my team.

Yeah I read the same, she's quite the  equestrian and was to compete in the USA National Championships, I also believ she won an event. As to Demko the best draft pick JB ever made IMO, not a first rounder that fell into his lap

100%, spittin' the truth!  Demko, is the man.

  13. Truth is, Tkachuk, Gudreau, and Monahan all have serious character flaws.  To many poor attitudes on the same team.  I'm kind sad because I knew they'd never win with these guys.  Now, if he's traded... No when he's traded, fLames will get a kings ransome in return (hope not!!!!).

You know, during the 16' draft, when it was the nucks pick... I figured we'd pick Tkachuk... He was consensus bpa, when that didn't happen, I figured that Linden stepped in to make sure we didn't take him, due to the fact that he's his father's son... All about himself, not a team player.  Linden was looking for character guys... (Unfortunately Juolevi was not high character either)  the nucks felt Matthew wasn't one of them.  If this was the case, nucks management was right... But I doubt they expected MT to become as dominate as he's become.  Picking Juolevi didn't help either... Makes you wonder, if we had picked him, would he have done the same to us?

The Canucks player development has always been terrible.  Before Woo, Gadjovich and Lind and as far as I can remember it was always horrible and never taken seriously.  This ownership is now investing substantial money to player development.  Its been a long time coming, we’re finally catching up to the good teams and how they developed their players.  Far too often our players were rushed too soon and left to develop on their own.  Player development is more that just monitoring the physical maturity of your draft picks.  I feel like the Canucks are finally being lead out of the decades long dark ages of player development

The last time there was solid player development in this organization was when the Manitoba Moose under (cheveldayoff) were overseeing our guys (kesler, bieksa, bourdon, rypien,  finding and developing burrows.  First time we've invested and taken over development of our prospects properly.  About time!
