Sorry for being clueless, but who are the guys on the left. (I recognize Pearson, Myers, Boeser and Poolman on the right.) Is is Horvat with the beard on the left and Hughes beside him? It would easier to recognize them if they were wearing their Canuck numbers.

Of Darryl Nurses contract?  OEL has 5 years left out of a 8 year contract.

    Edit:

Omg... Yes forgot Darryl Nurse's 8 contract is just about to kick in at 9.25 mill on the cap... Wow

On a healthy canucks team? He my be on the taxi squad lol. Unfortunately the kid could not make that projected stud player jump into the bigs, but his jr career was on point. I believe he broke tourney records that Stamkos and Crosby owned. Played like a champ in the world jr's was set for success, drafted but couldn't compete that way with the big boys. Still better than the millions that weren't good enough to even get the opportunity. The fact he never Patrik Stefan, or Alexandre Daigle'ed his carrier and still plugging away says alot about his character which a team can never get enough of. I'm on team Lazar. Work your butt off out there when the opportunity presents itself. Do all you can then do more and the team, city, fans  will be on your side.

He'll turn out like Luke Schenn has... (Won't ever live up to his draft position but becomes very valuable in a different way). Figured out his roll... Big body, uses it effectively, smart puck management, good on faceoffs, plays within his abilities and is a character solid teammate.  Found money.

Mikheyev is gonna be to Petey what Burrows was to Henrik

Was thinking the same thing.  Leafs radio guy said that Mikheyev thinks the game very well, compared his thought process to Datyzuk lol!  But.... If his hockey IQ is high enough, paired with his defensive acumen and speed, he might be the perfect line mate for Petey.  I hope management see it that way too, and gives it a try during training camp.

I am glad you believe that; you could help market that team; Gaudreau is going there to get lost in woods, not light the place on fire.

Blue jackets need high profile (elite) players to get the Jackets noticed in that market.  Most don't want to go there, if they are, want out.  So this is a big deal.  Maybe might change the narrative that has dogged this team since Nash left.  Might attract more quality player in the future.... IF they start to win.  Similar to the Kawhi Leonard effect in T.O..

Ol' Johnny couldn't tell Flamer fans how attached he was to Calgary enough during the playoffs?

Bingo.... Watching his last shift as a fLame, when he peeled away from engaging with Draisaitl in the corner (I know... He would probably lost the battle).  He just gave up.  After seeing lack of care, I didn't think he'd be back.

All Russians have a problem with English, must be basic differences in the speaking of it. Think it took Fedorov 15 years to be decent at it.

Well then, Podz is the exception because he just got here last year and he already speaks better than Ilya.  All good though, everybody's different.  Just glad Podz has some teammates to speak his native tongue with.

  8. Love how we have a Russian flavor on the team to go with the majority, Swede, U.S. and Canadian players.  I think it will add to the atmosphere in the locker room.  Listened to the Ilya interview on 650.  He doesn't have a strong handle on the English language but his happy go lucky persona definitely shines through.  I think he'll become a fan favorite soon enough.

Seems like a guy Clark might make a difference with.

Collin Delia profiles as a goalie who is very athletic, acrobatic, and never quits on a play, but he has really struggled at times with rebound control and his glove hand. Has the size and “length” that Clark likes to see in his goalies, and has the raw athleticism, but could probably benefit from some tweaks to his technique, if not a complete overhaul.

Canucks just need him for depth/insurance, which he easily provides “as is,” but maybe there’s a chance our goalie whisperer could get something more out of Delia?

Exactly what my thoughts are.  Having Clark as not only a resource to develop our goalie prospects and big club goalies.  He shows that he is great with YOUNGER reclamation projects and/or later picks that need solid teaching.

We could very well have two or three EXTRA high end #1 goalies next two or three years (Silovs, Delia) and high end back-up in Martin.  Both Aku Koskenvuo and Ty Young trending well too.

We may have some quality trading chips as early as next year coming from our goalie depth... Which in the current climate, will be worth a lot.

NJD needs a bigger wingman for Hughes. Jack is tiny and Hishier is 175 lbs... why add another tiny guy at 10 mill 7 years..

Cant have top line with Jack and Johnny.... 2 160 lbs guys making top tier money.

A team like Caoitals should go after JG.

Backstroms 9.2 mill will be off the books completely or on LTIR at the very least  he had hip surgery and not too many players can come back from that.

They pay that 9.2 towards Guedreau and they're rolling

I hear yah, Johnny would fit well in Washington with players with more size to complement his skill.  However, who's going to pass him the puck, with no Backstrom?

Y picked Seider as his 1st pick.  He's a beast. On his way to being elite as soon as DET comes out of thus rebuild.

And Y picked that sweedish kid. Last year. The big kid on D. He's LD. Seider is RD . They can double shift them together when needed and on separate pairs regular shift. They'll have 2 great pairings with each on a top 4 pair..the kid is going to be another stud.

Yah Seider will end up being just behind Makar soon enough (2-3 yrs).  There's a new golden age of defencemen just starting.... Hughes is one of them (lower end but there). Exciting times in NHL.

  12. Well... I guess... I kinda don't have all the facts hey?!  Lol!  Now that you mention it, I knew Yzerman was still under Holland at that point.  Just forgot... That means stevie Y's still perfect!!!  As for him not drafting, I knew he didn't make the picks himself BUT hired his scouts I assume?  Regardless, under his watch, he's been very good at stocking the prospect cupboards.  Thanks for the reminder.
