  1. Hopefully he has a healthy season. I'm sure Utica would love to have him next year I'm sure.
  2. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. I hope he reaches his potential, but I wouldn't stop stocking our defense prospects counting on him to make it. I don't consider us deep at any position through the organization. Well... maybe Goal
  3. Agreed, press box isn't going to do him alot of good. Now that the streak is over I hope he gets back in, otherwise let's send him down, bring up Baertschi and rotate him and Leivo.
  4. I'm sure he wants him, i was wondering if his leave or absence was over.
  5. I like that he was a late bloomer physically, alot of the early bloomers let's call it, do really well because of their size and when they catch up to playing men their own size it is a steep learning curve, their go to moves don't work anymore or as well. Being small you learn to play smart, then if you end up big, you have a bigger toolbox with size to boot. Good luck this year Aidan.
  6. Agreed, not worried about Demko at all. Just saw Markstrom listed in the lineup in OP, was curious if it had been confirmed.
  7. Is Markstrom confirmed back for this one? Hope the boys come out hungry after being shutout. Go Nucks!
  8. I wouldn't do the trade because we need what Quinn brings on the backend. We have Petey upfront already. Would it be nice to have Jack? Heck yeah. Is he the better Hughes brother? Well he did go first overall so that is a fair assumption, but still an assumption. Ask me in 5 years which Hughes is the best, and which we need more. Hughes triplets in Van? Yes. Under the cap? Oh you mean in real life? No
  9. Beat the champs, lose to the devils. I guess we were due for a loss but to the devils!? They sucked this year. Of course Hughes scores his career first against us. On the bright side for me, since they lost, I can watch again on days off. Come on days off....
  10. Rathbones first game of the season today. Hope he does well
  11. As a BC boy now living in Alberta and working in the oil field, there is a minority that may act how you quoted, but that is pretty extreme. I would say 90% of the people here don't disagree that a change needs to be made into clean energy. But where is the solution? Is there anything we can do overnight to immediately change the way the world is run and the way things are manufactured? People rushing to their computers and smart phones made in part by petroleum products to protest petroleum is as crazy as the people who think no harm will come of climate change. We should be using our energy industry's profits into researching and implementing said clean energy ( they are ) and a way to remove emissions from there atmosphere, but change takes time, a long time sadly when it comes down to how cities are powered and our infrastructure as a whole. Unless we all agree to power everything down and go back to living outdoors and being one with nature, which there is too many of us for, it is going to take time and a lot of money. We have the resources to be a self sufficient country and refuse to do it because of how concerned we are about our environmental impact. Are we not concerned that we are buying the product from sources that care 100 times less about the environment and emissions than we do in Canada? Instead of supplying ourselves with the product, reducing incoming tanker traffic that delivers us the gas we have in our own backyard? Greta sailed over to NA on an emission free sailboat, that's neat, how was the boat made though? Unless she cut down the tree's and handcrafted the boards and built the ship herself, it was manufactured and that created emissions. The hypocrisy is unbelievable. Your reading this right now, just look down at what your wearing. Natural fibres? Maybe, how was that shirt made? Did you sew it yourself? Did you buy it in a store that has thousands of manufacture made clothing? Most likely. The conversation isn't wrong, but the finger pointing isn't helpful. We need someone to invent a new way to power our cities, manufacture our goods, and clean the atmosphere of existing emissions. Why not embrace the cleanest oil and gas sector in the world ( canada ) to boost our economy and find a new way to do things. Even once a new way is found, it would take decades to replace all the old with the new and we will need oil and gas to do it. There are loudmouth idiot Albertans, I get it, they're in every province, but 90% of them care about the environment, they like camping and fishing and want a world for their kids too. Alot of the work I do is in northern BC as well, fort st.john area, your all invested in this too. Man I could go on and on and this is why I usually stay out of this conversation. My main point is that the war between provinces and the war on our own countries economy and the oil and gas sector needs to end. We need to embrace it, do it better than anyone else, and find a new way for the future. All while still manufacturing the things humanity needs for every day life.
  12. I think OJ is a smart player, and have been optimistic a long time in this thread. I know he has been injured alot but his speed is starting to be a real concern based on what I read. How slow are we talking? Edler speed? He makes due, any slower than that though and it's a bit worrisome. You can have all the tools but if your not fast enough to keep up, it won't matter. Hopefully he has a healthy year and skating improves.
  13. I will open by saying I have not watched this kid play, but he seems like he is very good and getting better. Maybe they could have done a bridge deal similar to Boesers? Instead they lock up a future piece, won't have to worry about how much he is going to command when their other big names contracts expire. I don't think it's a bad move at all. Edit: P.S. If this is what he gets, we are signing Petey to a 8 year 9-10M AAV extension.
  14. If we are in the playoff picture, I probably wouldn't trade Tanev. From an asset management point or view, trading him for value is the way to go, we aren't likely to make noise in the playoffs this year anyway. But the message it sends to the team, we don't think your good enough to contend, we are going to ship out one of our most reliable veterans on the ice. Morale wise it doesn't seem like a good decision. Hockey is a business, but played by human beings who could he affected by this kind of thing, the same way morale has been boosted with our off season pickups, "we believe in you guys, here is help for you, go for it". Morale matters in my experience. If we are out of the picture, trade him.
  15. Ideally he would start as the 7th dman, maybe sub him in for Benn or Stecher and see how he does. He needs to come in and prove it this time, work hard, do what's asked of him, and earn his place. I wouldn't ship anyone out for him before he proves himself. There are opportunities every year because of injuries, if he fills in for someone and steals a spot for himself, best case scenario. I still wouldn't want to ship anyone out because our blue line is often injured.
  16. Not many people have bit on my Gaudette question. I realize he is not part of this deal, curious to know if people think we still have our McCann in Gaudette?
  17. I want to play Mario Kart with the Captain!
  18. "What do you and Louie talk about?" Edler- " Swedish things, IKEA, swedish meatballs, swedish fish, swedish cats" "Do you miss having Daniel Sedin as a seat partner? Edler - " No, he was annoying" Haha. I watched this when I woke up, I love these little looks behind the scenes of the team. Lots of funny parts but that bit I quoted was my favorite.
  19. Wish I was watching on TV instead of watching score updates on an app, And reading your comments when I can sneak off for a minute. Still undefeated when I don't watch lol. What am I going to do come days off?
  20. Yeaaa! Beat the champs! Bragging rights, predicted 4-3 OT in GDT
  21. While I don't disagree, lots of teams missed on Pasta. There's always a gem other teams missed out on. We have Petey playing like a first overall, you win some you lose some.
  22. He is going to be looking to go to a contender, played in one playoff series his whole career. Wouldn't be surprised at all if he tests free agency, maybe he gets traded and then tests the market unless he lands somewhere he has a chance to win it all. Would love to see him in Vancouver, but I don't think we could fit him under the cap, not when the core get their new deals.
  23. Valid point. I think GMs want to maintain a reputation of being player friendly. Like the Biega situation where instead of sending him down he traded him somewhere he may stay in the league. If a trade is requested/demanded then they ship them off no matter what. But it isn't always to the benefit of the team. Sakic in Colorado held onto Duchene forever, didn't cave and got himself a good return in the end. How it should be done. If your a competitive team, playing in a city like Vancouver, I think players would want to be here regardless of if you submit to players requests.
