  1. Mario is only 200 shy of Gretzky’s goal record, in 500+ less games. Considering he played 9 seasons of 25 or less games. I think it’s safe to say he probably would have beaten that record even with his decline in the later years. Remember, he had to retire in his prime. Before his retirement, the season prior he scored 50 goals.
  2. Gretzky hold these records because of the longevity of his career. Mario would be just behind Gretzky in points, if he wasn’t hampered with injuries and wasn’t diagnosed with cancer. He surely would’ve had the goals record, if he didn’t miss 4 full seasons, with his treatment. Even after his battle with cancer, he came back and still managed to score 90+ points in 70 games. Also, he probably would have broken Gretzky’s single season goals record and points record, if he didn’t miss a months worth of games in the 92-93 season. Mario was more talented and just better offensively than Gretzky. However, Gretzky’s hockey sense triumph everybody in his era. That’s why he put up those godly numbers. He wasn’t the most talented one, he was just ahead of everybody else and slow the game down.
  3. Not my words, the Great One words. Do you also realize that Mario played like 500+ less games than Gretzky? Mario undoubtedly beats Wayne’s goal scoring record if he were healthy.
  4. Well, at least they scored more than 1 run. Jays need the Orioles to beat Seattle, and today results are pretty much a wash in the standings.
  5. Considering Gretzky said himself that Lemieux was more talented and a better goal scorer than he was. I’d take his words over yours. Lemieux made guys like Rob Brown, Randy Cunneyworth, Dan Quinn, Kevin Stevens, etc point per game players and they never eclipsed those marks after they left Pittsburgh.
  6. Neither Bourque or Coffey were great in their own end, average at best. Plus, they started to decline near the tail end of their careers. Lidstrom is considered the best two-way defensemen in the history of the game. Even in his later years, he was still elite.
  7. Lemieux is better than Gretzky, fight me internet.
  8. I think I’d rather not risk Vladdy getting injured on a play he has no business beating out. I mean, how many times have we seen him hustle around the bags, trying to stretch a single into a double. Only to get thrown out by a mile?
  9. The best chance at winning a Cup (not my prefer choices). Naslund - Morrison - Bertuzzi Hamhuis - Salo Luongo Luongo in net + the duo of Hamhuis and Salo offsets the WCE lack of defensive acumen. The team that I prefer. Ronning - Linden - Mogilny Lumme - Salo Luongo
  10. Whose had been the worst trade deadline acquisition recently? Brad Hand, Jonathan Villar, or Paul DeJong?
  11. I think at this point, you’d want to remain ahead of the Yankees (so a Yankees loss), take the final wildcard spot and face the other AL division teams. If the season ended today, they’d be facing the Twins, then either Rangers/Astros in the ALDS.
  12. Next series; not having to face either Bieber and Ramirez. It should be an easy sweep, but then again it is the Blue Jays.
  13. Wilson’s contract isn’t even that bad. Plus, he’s the most likely one out of the group, to be placed on LTIR. Miller and Horvat are interchangeable. While Horvat is paid more and provides less points. He’s two years younger, and probably won’t hampered the team, as much as Miller, at the tail end of their contracts. Right now Huberdeau’s contract looks like the worst, but he’s too far talented to put up the numbers he had last season. He could easily be a PPG player throughout his contract.
  14. Future looking very bleak for Washington. At least, they got their Cup, though.
  15. I just read Mountcastle had 11 hits, in the series. The entire Jays lineup had 18 hits, in the series. What the actual f**k.
  16. Why not give us some actually NBA regular season games? I don’t want to see starters play 10 mins of a game and then sit out the rest of the game for bench players.
  17. Well, the Orioles may have kicked the Jays asses all season long, but at least they still have this to remember them by.
  18. Tarasenko pretty much sums up the Canadian hockey media and this is in Ottawa, who’s not known as crazy as the rest of Canada’s market.
  19. Gotta love baseball. The Jays essentially won the game without a single hit. Walk, walk, walk, hit by pitch, hit by pitch, error.
  20. What? He’s signed for one year. Carolina was the only team that gave him a multi year deal worth 11.2m (5.6m).
  21. They’re 1-5, since he came back. Teams are giving him the Ohtani treatment, because no one else on the team can hit.
  22. I think the whole “tax rate” is blown way out of proportion because of what Bobby Ryan said about playing in a higher taxed city and how he had them on his no trade list. Look at Tarasenko, he took less the play in Ottawa, when San Jose and Carolina reportedly offered him more money.
