    Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but if we want to re-sign Markstrom and he wants to stay here, for the expansion draft couldn’t we sign him to a one year deal next summer so that his contract would expire before the expansion draft, protect Demko, and expose an AHL/3rd string goalie?

      Seattle would have to be pretty confident of re-signing Marky, and they won't be able to talk to him. 

       

      We have a year to wait and see at least.

      Actually, there is a small period (2 ish days) between when the Protection lists are submitted and the draft, where they can talk to UFA’s. Engelland was signed when he was drafted.

      Having Seattle overpaying for Marky in his 30s might not be the worst outcome for us.
