@Elias Pettersson You would probably be complaining as well if they let him walk free.

Benning allowed our top players to walk for free. Not a 4th liner. Big difference. Trying to make a playoff push and make the playoffs with the best 4th line in the NHL in my opinion was more important than getting a 4th round pick.

Push for the playoffs?  Yah, that train has left the station, with or without Motte.  This version of the Canucks will be lucky if they end the season 2-3 games above .500.  I'll be shocked if the Canucks can play .500 hockey the rest of the season.

The best fourth line in the NHL is going to give you a good shot at the playoffs?  Not likely when your best players aren't the best players every night.

  2. Fine I guess? Have to see how Dermott plays first. If its true that Hamonic was a locker room cancer then gj there regardless. Motte trade is what it is. More pressure on mgmt now to tweak during the off season.
  3. As per PA: Im excited Rathbone/Lockwood might get some games.  Was worried (but also ok with) with them staying in Abby.

  4. Planning is good-Im not disagreeing with that. However, your reasoning is too assumptive. Demko was definitely still developing at the time. Post bubble there was a big (?) whether he could handle being a starter hence Holtby. Trying to criticize the previous regime for not having developed Demko into a Schneider-esque proven player is a stretch. He’s been probably one of the major development bright spots for this org. He has been handled well as a developing player. Management in place now is handling their buisness the way they see fit. Ill give them full autonomy to do things their way like I usually have with this team. No debate there.
  5. It’ll be interesting to see how they (JR/PA) navigate this now. If Motte’s ask for a new contract was too high then fair enough, but that line was so heavily relied upon by Bruce B. Getting a new winger in place will be interesting. They play so much and are relied upon-I wonder if Podz would be a good fit for a year if Lockwood needs more time in the A
  6. Speaking of unrealistic expectations-did you think the Canucks were going to trade their MVP in Markstrom when they were fighting for a playoff spot? TT was acquired to help with the push/Boeser injury. Maybe you can make the case for Tanev, but given the circumstances at the time it would have been unlikely. Discussing asset management is one thing. Using these players as examples given the circumstances seems like a stretch.
  7. Rathbone plays bigger than he is, and is driven. He’s got great upside if he can keep improving. IF there other plans in place so be it, or if this is to buy Rathbone more development time then fair enough, but Im not writing off the kid yet.
  8. Not sure you can call this a tidy piece of business until you see how Dermott plays. Giving up a third and cap space when you have Rathbone rounding into form will be something to watch.
  9. disagree. he’s a serviceable dman just like Hamonic. Context is what matters. Contending teams might not view the contract as efficient for their needs, but mid to rebuilding teams could see value in having a steady RH defensemen like Poolman. All assuming Poolman is even on the block. Could be others Canucks would like to move instead/first.
  10. not surprised at all there are teams looking for players like Hamonic w/o having to retain money. Still think Poolman/Dickinson could be desirable to re building teams as well like ARZ.
  11. ownership has given JR/PA and management full autonomy to make hockey ops decisions. JR has re-iterated this fact. where did people get the idea this has suddenly changed smh
  12. We can pick apart JB, but I always hoped he was going to construct a roster with sone nastiness ala 2011 Bruins. At least Im encouraged BruceyB really likes that roster construction. In addition to some toughness on the back end, really wish we had a couple of extra Fwds that love to hit hard/turn up the give-a-crap meter when needed. Kinda what Im hoping to see if the FWD group gets tweaked.
  13. Bruce is gonna have his team bonding activities cut out for him after these trades.
  14. Plant based Filipino adobo w/ soy curls. Im a sucker for soy based broths and this is dayam tasty. A-tier right now, but if I can get a reduced sodium recipe going but maintain the flavour, definitely S-tier.
  15. oof. was checking the score btw periods while at work. was hoping for a win after third. ah well. might make for a spicier Monday
  16. If EP/JTM/BH are your three C’s (and arguably your key FWDs), Id like to see wingers that compliment each. keep developing NH & VP TP is a good utility player If Canucks have to move Garland/Boeser/Dickinson to give their wings a different look/gain cap space/get younger, quicker, tougher, improve D then so be it. Keep Motto line together obvs, or trade Motte if you have to.
  17. I really like CG and everything he brings. It’s unfortunate (relatively speaking) that the Nucks have their PP1 halfwall set with JTM/EP bc I think CG would shine there as well. That being said, if he did go to BOS and the Canucks received DeBrusk++ back, could JD be a solid mainstay with Horvat? Havnt really watched BOS much this year, and more just curious.
  18. unfortunately it’s Joe Sakic we are talking about here. Even with Byram’s concussion concerns, there’s probably no way Sakic lets him go unless he gets big time value back.
  19. boeser is the most confounding fwd on this roster for me tbh.
