  1. Burt was gone the day after Larkin re-signed and Hronek was traded on the same day. Larkin was emotional in an interview that day. I believe someone may have made a thread about it here. Had they intended to rebuild they wouldn't have re-signed Larkin prior to moving Burt or Hronek. That doesn't align with a full rebuild but rather retool/rebuild on the fly with keeping Larkin as a centerpiece to help build around. They already have a good prospect pool, a bunch of picks and assets to make trades. There's no point in rebuilding anymore now that they have the assets to trade for spots they need. To fill the holes their prospect pool doesn't I don't think they care for Cossa as much now that they've drafted Augustine.
  2. Overall they've done something we don't really see super often which is a rebuild/retool on the fly. They had the cap, the prospects in the system and assets. They traded guys out, traded for guys, signed folks, drafted folks and spent picks in a trade. I kind of get the feeling that they kind of werent super happy with the makeup of their roster prior to all these moves we've seen. Cossa is an unfortunate miss so far but it goes to show that having a good draft year can sometimes not account to much. Still pretty early on though so we'll see. Yeah I think when the next big offensive star is available they will be probably one of the main bidders. They have the assets and the need. Wings could be a player in a blockbuster down the line. Time will tell for the Wings. They are definitely better off than most of teams in the east long-term. They'll probably be on the rise when a lot of teams are on the downswing and there's gonna be a bunch of teams that will be collapsing down the road.
  3. Kasper is pretty good. Had a nice season in the SHL as a 18/19 year old. Hard-nosed two-way C. I feel he has solid 2nd C potential. That's what they need behind Larkin Copp and Compher are both really good 3rd/borderline 2nd Cs that play a strong two-way game. They also can play the wing as Kasper grows. Both could play the wing if Rasmussen can hold 3C down. He had a pretty productive year. They need to focus in on getting more offense. I suspect they try to acquire more scoring on top of Debrincat. Perhaps as a market opens up like they did here or in next years free agency. I personally wouldn't have drafted ASP but another forward. Maybe they thought the risk/reward factor was worth it but I would have drafted another forward.
  4. Yeah they are mostly lacking at offensive winger depth. Larkin/Compher/Copp/Rasmussen and their high pick Kasper who’s on the cusp, they won’t be lacking at C.
  5. We’d kinda be f**ked in terms of trying to compete. It would be a huge hindrance. Hughes probably gonna go after same money. Same agent. Not sure we get a young 2nd C. Teams would usually trade high end prospects and picks for guys like Petey. Guys like that take time to fill key spots.
  6. I don’t think they believe Hronek is a top pairing guy. I can’t say I do as well. He’s had one good year which was also the year they lowered his ice time. You have to factor in contractual demands. He’s gonna be looking to make bank as a 25/26 year old. That and his playstyle being a more offensive D may not align with the D-core they want long-term. They also already have a top pair RD in Seider. They have enough prospects that have high enough potential to become better. I would be pretty high on Edvinsson and Wallinder. Top 5 prospect pool that’s heavy on the D side.
  7. Seems like the Redwings did an actual retool/rebuild on the fly. They’ve revamped their roster and have a whole bunch of youngsters on the way. Having a top 5 prospect pool definitely helps.
  8. I figure he didn’t want to commit on Hronek long term. Perhaps didn’t see that sort of fit with the D-core too. Redwings also have some pretty nice D prospects even before drafting ASP. Johansson(2019 2nd) and Wallinder(2020 2nd) both put up 25+ seasons each in the SHL as under 21 year olds. They also have Tuomisto(2019 2nd) who had a great year in the men’s league in Finland. Tuomisto and Wallinder are making the NA jump next year, could surprise or may take time to adjust like Johansson. And finally Edvinsson(2021 6th overall)who just finished his first year of NA and will perhaps make the jump next year in the NHL. All these D are big, young, high draft picks on the cusp. Overall redwings have one of the best D-core prospect pools in the league. They could afford to move Hronek. They likely didn’t want to re-sign him at the price he was looking to get.
  9. Seems like Tyson may be a good dude if he has this many friends around the NHL.
  10. It’s to make the cap work. The picks are the real prize. Myers may be an asset that could potentially be flipped depending the variety of the market come TD(Team injuries as well)
  11. I think he’s been better than what we’ve seen out of OEL during his time here. He was trending upwards but I haven’t seen this years WAR(he’s been on a crap team last season). He’s played good with Risto who’s been inconsistent throughout his career. He doesn’t need PP time to get the most out of him either.
  12. Flyers trade Travis Sanheim 27 years old LD 8 years x 6.25M Scott Laughton 29 year old C 3 years x 3M Vancouver trades 2024 1st(Conditional; top 5 protection) 2024 3rd 2025 2nd Tyler Myers 34 year old RD 1 years x 6M Connor Garland 27 year old RW 3 years x 4.95M We reallocate our cap space by getting a #3 LD thats 1.6 years older than Hronek and solid 3C under a good contract. We also gain 1.7M in cap space for next season. That’s after a year with Risto. 2023 is not up yet. Flyers get a plethora of picks. Vancouver lineup Mikheyev-Petey-Kuzy Beau-Miller-Boeser ???-Laughton-Pod Joshua-Blueger-??? ??? = Hog/Pearson/Aman/PDG Hughes-Cole Sanheim-Hronek Soucy-??? ??? = Irwin/Juulsen/Brisebois/Hirose/Rathbone IMO this lineup is better equipped for playoffs and is a step towards building a contender. Do we give up too much? Not enough? Rather keep the picks? Rather spend more for better? Flame away.
  13. At 4M this year I don’t think he’ll have an extreme lack of suitors. He’s not that pricey and if a team really wanted him they could spend the assets to move cap and acquire. Teams could look at him like a rental two. He’s a solid RD and those don’t grow on trees or are often readily available like this. The two factors are contractual demands after this season and his NTC. The 15 team NTC is a rough factor for the Canes. Like many teams wanting him they might not even be one able to trade for him. Teams that are looking for long-term RD could potentially be weary of what his contractual demands are. On a side note. We’ve also been linked to Sanheim too and he has a full NTC but Flyers are in a rebuilding/selling situation. They’re more handicapped moving him. He’s more of a two-way D with some puck-moving talent. Solid even-strength numbers. Is only 27 so probably 6 good years out of his 8 year deal. Still Sanheim is a pretty good top 4 LD and I think playing with Hronek would be an upgrade on Risto. More opportunity to get rid of more cap as well as maybe look at Laughton. Would cost us though.
  14. I don’t see Carolina interested in any of the wingers we’re trying to get rid of. Unless folks are fine with moving Kuzy which I doubt we are. We’d likely have to make a separate move to create cap and then go after Pesce or 3-Way. Our prospect pool/picks would definitely take a hit.
  15. A winger trade could net us enough cap for a 3rd C and bottom 6 winger. Essentially another forward PK unit. Would likely make a significant difference to our PK efforts.
  16. I was hoping for a winger trade and a 3rd C brought for this off-season. Market hasn’t been favourable and cap restraints hinder our efforts in further additions. Overall I give management a C+/B-(pretty much average) in Free Agency as it currently stands. A winger out and 3rd C added would have bumped it up a level. A top 4 D and bottom 6 winger added as well then they would get a high grade. They helped address an issue next year but I still see those pre-existing issues there but dampened down. Also two of the key guys are here for a season so long term these issues still need addressing.
  17. We’ve addressed a bunch but still have a ways to go toward rounding out the roster. cap restraints prevents us from further adding. Moving a winger + Myers would allow us to add a 3rd C, a bottom 6 winger and probably give us the cap for a top 4 D(finding one available may be more of an issue). It may probably take another offseason to further address these issues as there’s a lot of cap off the books in 2024.
  18. Still need to revamp bottom 6. Add a legit 3rd C and a PK/physical winger. Still need a legit top 4 D A lot of which we can do as we clear more cap.
  19. We got 2 defenseman in Cole and Soucy that are good on PK but also take a lot of penalties. Hopefully they reel it in on the undisciplined play next season.
  20. ikheyev-Petey-Kuz Beau/Garland/Boes-Miller-Beau/Garland/Boes Pearson?/???-UFA-Pod Joshua-Blueger-???/Pearson? Hughes-???/Cole Cole/Soucy-Hronek Soucy/???-Myers/??? Need to add a solid 3C that can move up in case of injury/added depth. Move one of Boeser/Garland/Beau. It sounds like Pearson is coming back next year. He’d be decent on the bottom 6 for the season. Preferably move Myers and find a partner for Hughes. Would allow Cole to be with Hronek and Soucy to carry the 3rd pairing/step up when injury to the top 4 occurs.
  21. I would rather get an another solid C and move blueger down to the 4th C. Gives youngster wingers a good veteran C to play with and gives us quality depth when injuries happen. When injuries happen we need those youngsters then.
