  1. Didn't see that one, but he sure did a good job on the Flames.
  2. I would love to have Freddy on our team. Boston are keeping him for sure. Kudos to Pederson for even making an attempt
  3. Well, you know...if it doesn't work out, they can always trade Kuz for a 1st!
  4. Myers was always considered more of an offensive dman. Imo, the best part of his game is how he pushes the opponents away from the net. This a very important duty and the only dman that can do it effectively.
  5. Bowman was a terrific coach in a different era. I don't see Kuz as the prima dona type, as he seems to want to learn to play better. We'll see if putting him on the 4th line and keeping him at far fewer minutes per game will have a + change. It's a good time to experiment when Ws aren't a crucial factor. In the end, Kuz brings so much more to the Canuck game that he takes away. He's 27yrs old now and has played the same way all his life. What we see may be what we get.
  6. Sounds like that to me as well. Hopefully there will come a day when Canuck fans will not be so sensitive to perceived criticism of our team. It's so not worth getting so butt hurt over it.
  7. We'll see how far Tocc goes with this nonsense. Losing games isn't a bother right now, but sure will be next season.
  8. Yes it would. I like most of what Tocc has done so far, but he seems like a stubborn guy. Not playing Kuz for most of the 3rd (did he play any overtime) is extreme. Luckily he had the sense to put him into the shootout so that Kuz could win the game.
  9. I suspect it is Kuz's 'happy go lucky ways' and that hockey comes too easy for him.
  10. Let's face it, the Canucks have been irrelevant for since the Sedins run. There's been a few bright spots over the last half century, but overall the franchise record is uninspiring. I don't think 'the rest of Canada' or 'the rest of the NHL' care much about the Canucks.
  11. It's well known that Canuck fans are overly sensitive when it comes to any criticism of their team. That's why it's so easy for HNIC to troll them. All I saw was a guy standing in an arena full of exuberant hockey fans anticipating a trip to the playoffs. Of course he would rather be in NY than playing 'the most important game of the season' in a meaningless contest.
  12. I meant that the 5-12 spots could be a mixed bag. Nucks might have a better player than they thought dropping down to them.
  13. In his 1st pro year, he only had 28games due to Covid. The following season only had 48games due to injury, so one could say his development is a bit behind. That adds up to less than 1 season, so in development time, he's really just completing his 2nd season. There are many 2nd round dmen in the AHL that take 2-3 years before they make the jump to the NHL. I wouldn't write him off either. He's made a lot of progress this season (stats) and has become the physical player everyone thought he would be. The coaching is so good in Abby that I think Woo will be parked there for another year, unless his game take another big jump during the season. If they bring him up, they will have to keep him in Vancouver, so he would have to be a sure thing.
  14. Perhaps PA will put together a trade at the draft that will include a 2nd. The various draft rankings are all over the place. I've seen Strabak in the 3rd round (what a steal that would be) and the 2nd; Bonk and Dragicevic in the 1st and 2nd round. The picks after the top 4 are irregular as well. It's anyone's guess. I just don't see Rathbone getting a 2nd pick.
  15. I think we're on the same page with Garland. I don't see him being that beneficial in a playoff series (unless the team's PP was top in the league, or close. That said, his $ and term really doesn't fit for this team going forward. Garland might be a good pickup for a rebuilding team. He's the right age and has shown that he can put up points in the right situation. The Canucks would have to retain $ or add a sweetener. I still think there might be a Boeser trade with the Sharks; maybe something to do with Sturm($2m), as he would fill the 3C role until Raty can step up. Absolutely!
  16. I agree with much of what you have said, but there are 2 things missing. The first, is that Garland is a good passer, which is really all you needs to do. Pete will take over from there. The second is that he draws a lot of penalties, which gives his team a chance to score (if they're up to it)
  17. There are so many differing draft rankings out there that I am getting the 2018 (Hughes) vibe. I could see some surprising picks in the top 10, which could benefit the Canucks if a good player drops to them. PA has to find a way to pick up a 2nd rounder. There's a 2 or 3 RD gems in that round.
  18. I guess that's what separates him from the top 6, still, I'd be really happy if he could make the 3rd line. Tocc will probably like him. He would look good with Raty, who is a playmaker, can play d + o and won't be pushed around.
  19. It's not as bad as you think. Woo, Johansson, Kudryavtsev look promising, while Jurmo + McWade are possibles. If they could somehow acquire a 2nd, there 2 or 3 decent looking RDs available.
  20. I like that he's not a pushover. He's actually quite scrappy. I could see him playing on the Nucks 3rd line alongside Raty some day.
