  1. Umm no he isn't Henrik and Santo were our sparkplugs before they got injured. Kesler is still a important player to us but not important enough for us to win games.
  2. We already did by blowing a 1-0 lead in the third period against the biggest Canadian hockey audience by allowing 3 goals in 8 minutes.
  3. At this rate the Vancouver Canucks will relocate to another city. This city can't take this play and is beginning to ignore this team

  5. k lets see if your right since 2011 the notable players we have traded away Hodgson (1st line center) Samuelson Luongo (#1 Elite Goalie) Schneider (Elite Goalie) Shirokov 2012 4th Round Pick 2013 2nd Round Pick Taylor Elington Kevin Connauton (Top offensive defense prospect) I just see 4 on that list that have weakened our team since they left and for all of them we got Kassian (Potential 20 goal scoring Power Forward) Booth Maitthas Markstrom Horvat (Potential Shutdown third liner) Not bad. Booth and Maitthas might not be here in the future but still better than nothing. Markstrom has been injured prior to the trade (similar to Ballard and Booth were). Leaves kassian a guy who can't score unless he gets a lucky break and Horvat who isn't developed yet and but is likely to be a star in the future. I think if these were league sanctioned trades we would have had bad returns on these trades but we may have two potential star players which is better than nothing. We will just have to wait and see.
  6. Chicago and Dallas come to mind when you think of owners making an impact. Also the new leafs owner sure seems to have some "good luck" around him. Every team was sucking before and now they are doing okay.
  7. I hope my post explains it too you as a another poster said it is not 100% rigged(closer to 73%) but favorable outcomes always happen at the end. It's impossible to predict who exactly because of the nature but you can tell what type of team will win with ease (that's what we have been talking about in this thread). If everyone could just predict like that neither you are I would be wasting our time talking about it right now. One thing I can tell you with 100% certainty (I knew since 2011-2012) that the Panthers will win a cup before Vancouver does and that Lu was going to Florida all along (his family never moved from there).
  8. Just saying when the cup is handed out it will all make sense to you. It will be the same as it has been since 1994. Check all the cup winners and you will be able to easily predict the type of team that will win. Big Markets 1994 New York 1995 New Jersey 1996 Colarado 1997 Detroit 1998 Detroit 2000 New Jersey 2001 Colarado 2002 Detroit 2003 New Jersey 2008 Detroit 2009 Pittsburgh 2010 Chicago 2011 Boston 2012 LA 2013 Chicago 2014 ????? 15 of the last 19 seasons a big market team wins the cup that isn't Canadian. every american original six team has won the the cup at least once since then with them accounting for 8 of the last 19 seasons Four big market teams have won the cup at least twice 75% chance a big market team wins the cup Southern Expansion 1999 Dallas 2004 Tampa Bay 2006 Carolina 2007 Anaheim 2014 ????? Florida, Nashville, San Jose only teams remaining that haven't won a cup from the south Starting from 2004 for three straight years it was a southern expansion vs a Canadian team with the expansion winning every match 4 of the last 19 seasons have been won by a southern expansion. 25% chance a southern expansion wins the cup this year
  9. Just read the thread and you will already know who but I don't want to discredit the NHL every sports league does this to an extent except the CFL. Whether you go into Soccer, Basketball(super obvious) or Football you will see sports economics in effect.
  10. LA gets Gaborik So Richards, Carter, Penner, Gaborik and McNabb in trades? Gimme a break Also florida gets Lu a day after a ceo is hired?
  11. We need something that will actually help us in the long term future and a late first rounder that we get every year anyways doesn't cut it. Gillis said so in his interview if it didn't help the team out long term he wouldn't consider it.
  12. they aren't in rebuild mode like they other teams
  13. Coincidence that the leading scorers for all Canadian teams are american and if they aren't that team sucks? Montreal-Pacioretty Toronto-Kessel Ottawa- Ryan Winnipeg- Wheeler Vancouver- Kesler Edmonton- Rebuilding Calgary- Rebuilding Two things you can get from this 1. We will suck once kesler is traded 2. Get ready for the dark days
  14. The rigging goes into the regular season too
  15. Torts has been a failure so far this season. In 06/07 AV inherited a similar team that could not score and what did he do with them? He created a effective defensive system that made lu look like a all star and took us into the playoffs and beat a team eventually losing respectfully to the cup champs. He won a jack adams that year. He also made the sedins, burrows, hansen and edler look a lot better with his system. Torts drove henrik into the ground before the break resulting in his injury. He had 7 points in 7 games after christmas break (he is still capable of playing at that level) but torts won't allow that to happen. Torts has just been a disaster. Since ownership wanted him can't blame gillis.
  16. You realize part of the reason kesler wants to leave is........... my god. You clearly missed the 06/07 season when AV had nothing we still made the playoffs, made lu look like all star and won the jack adams. Torts inherited a better team and can't even come close to what AV did.
  17. To anyone who missed the gillis interview he denied that ownership stepped in to stop a trade today and also said return wasn't good enough

^ The deal I saw was 1st+Sutter+Pouliot. I think that is a good return.

Pouliot was taken off the table after Letang's problem. They swapped it for lesser prospects. Trust me, the offer was trash.

  18. Umm guys gillis just denied that ownership stepped in to stop a trade and also said that the the return wasn't good enough today. I would rather he wait till the moment is right like he did with Lu. I know everyone is impatient but if there is anything we know about gillis is that he is a lot more patient compared to us. I was impressed with the lu trade but he really needs to get a good return for kesler now that he has stated that's what he's looking for.
  19. To everyone who thought kesler was gonna be traded there was and still isn't any proof he was. The media just likes to hype things up.
