AV stays and so does Schneider.

Luongo and his big contract go to Florida or TB (where his family still lives) giving us cap space to sign BC boy Weber to a big inflated contract for 5 years.

Eddie Lack becomes our back up and makes league minimum for two years.

Huge Luongo supporter, always have been. Very sad at the prospect of him leaving but with Schneider and Lack the goalie tandem gets younger and way less expensive.

I am surprised to hear that Sauve was sitting in the San Antonio games. He was never a point producer but it thought he was giving that physical edge in the d-zone that Van really needs.

Defence: I think Salo comes back as a 5/6 depth guy. He played to much this year. Although Tanev played top 4 in playoffs at times that is not warranted. He did play well enough to be a 5/6 and move up if injury required. Ballard is the big ? If there is a coaching change then he might stay. He played well when he came back. If Salo or Ballard leave it opens a spot but Van has that window they have to be worried about. I still see a deal bringing another d-man to Van.

Offence: Van is still not big enough or aggressive enough for CUP play. It works well during regular season but we should all realize by now that isn't playoffs. LA simply wanted it more and were willing to go the distance. Decision is whether Booth is worth his money. Assume that the Twins, Kesler, Burrows come back revved up. IMHO there are 2 spots up for grabs in the top 6. Schroeder should be the only serious contender failing a trade. He does not make the Canucks bigger. The whole issue around whether a puck possession game is the ticket to CUP success is up in the air. IMO it is not the whole solution and the Nucks have to broaden their offensive strategy. That leans towards players like Kassian and Jensen.

I'm out of here. Games on.

I like kassian on our fourth line. Hes physically ready, just needs to mature, hopefully with the 50 or so games this year he has learned a thing or two. I like either schroeder or jensen in our top 6 maybe top 9. Probably schroeder as we could use a passer on either the 2nd or 3rd line.

From CDC itself, figured I repost it here for anyone interested:

Two first period goals and some timely saves from Eddie Lack helped the Chicago Wolves stave off elimination against the San Antonio Rampage on Tuesday night.

Darren Haydar posted two goals and Vancouver Canucks first round pick Jordan Schroeder notched his first of the playoffs in a 3-2 Wolves win, in Game 3 in Chicago. Eddie Lack made 18 saves, including 10 in the third period as the Wolves now trail the best-of-five series 2-1.

The Wolves caught some what of a break when the Florida Panthers re-called star Rampage netminder Jacob Markstrom earlier in the day on an emergency call up, forcing the Rampage to go with Dov Grumet-Morris between the pipes. The Wolves came out early in the first and peppered the surprise starter with 11 shots in the first period, scoring on two of them. Schroeder opened the scoring as his shot deflected off Rampage defenseman Keith Seabrook and found the back of the net. With less than one minute to play in the opening frame Mark Mancari and Haydar hooked up on a Sedin-like goal as Mancari faked the shot and sent a slap-pass over to Haydar to give the Wolves a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Chicago started the middle stanza much like they did the first period, controlling the play and getting shots on Grumet-Morris. It took the Rampage almost ten minutes to record a shot in the period, only their fifth of the game. The Wolves then found themselves in penalty trouble and the Rampage would make them pay, as young defenseman Alex Petrovic notched his professional goal on a San Antonio power play to give the Rampage some life late in the second period.

The Rampage carried that momentum over into the third but Lack – who was rarely tested in the first 40 minutes – came up big down the stretch. Bryon Bitz won a key defensive zone faceoff for the Wolves with less than a minute to play and Darren Haydar scored his second of the night into an empty net to give the Wolves a 3-1 lead. The Rampage would score to make it 3-2 with .5 seconds left, but it was too late as the Wolves would hang on to extend the series. Chicago outshot the Rampage 24-20.

Game 4 goes Wednesday night at Allstate Arena in Chicago at 5 p.m. PST. If needed Game 5 goes Friday night in Chicago at 5:30 p.m. PST.

Tidbits

-Canucks first round pick Nicklas Jensen and Steven Reinprecht missed the game due to injuries. Jensen took a high hit from Petrovic in Game 2, and Reinprecht took a puck off the face early in the same game

-Bitz – just sent to the Wolves from Vancouver – and Stefan Schneider found their way into the line-up to replace the injured Wolves

-Bitz, Mancari, Bill Sweatt, Michael Davies, and Kevin Doell picked up assists for the Wolves

-Defense tandem Nolan Baumgartner and Kevin Connauton led the way in the plus/minus department for the Wolves, both with plus-2 ratings

-Mancari fired a team-high four shots on goal

-The Wolves improve to 17-10 all-time in must-win elimination games, 9-6 on home ice

-Déjà vu? Last season in the first round with the Manitoba Moose, Eddie Lack allowed five goals in Game 1, entered Game 2 in relief and stopped everything he faced, and then won Game 3. This season? Exact same

3 Stars: 1. CHI, Haydar 2. CHI, Lack, 3. SA, Grumet-Morris

Don't suggest Shroeder centering the second line again. Unless you want Shroeder traded just like Hodgson.

It make sence and might possibly work but don't mention it or you know.

Go third line with two solid winger in Higgins and Hansen to look after him till he develops its a safer bet.

Game 4 recap:

The comeback is nearly complete.

Great penalty killing and another stellar performance from goaltender Eddie Lack helped the Chicago Wolves to a 2-1 win Wednesday night over the San Antonio Rampage, forcing a decisive Game 5 in the Western Conference Quarter-Final series.

Steve Reinprecht scored twice and Tim Miller added another, while Lack made 30 saves, including 15 in the first period alone, in a tight checking game 4 that saw the Wolves fail to generate much offense, but capitalize on the chances they did get.

It took just 43 seconds for the Rampage to open the scoring on a Michael Caruso point shot that beat Lack giving them an early 1-0 lead. San Antonio took advantage of three Wolves penalties in the opening period and peppered Lack with 16 shots. It took the Wolves over 12 minutes to record their first shot of the game, their first of only four shots in the period.

Lack continued to make timely saves in the second period, the biggest one on a Wacey Rabbit breakaway. Rabbit deked backhand, but the big Swedish netminder shut the door to keep the Wolves with in striking distance. With just over two minutes to go in the period Reinprecht deflected a Nolan Baumgartner point shot to even the score at 1-1 after 40 minutes.

Reinprecht gave the Wolves the lead 12 minutes into the third period, taking a pass from Mark Mancari and blasting a shot by Rampage goaltender Dov Grumet-Morris. Tim Miller would add an insurance goal into an empty net with 29 seconds left to seal the victory for the Wolves.

Game 5 goes Friday night at Allstate Arena in Chicago at 5:30 p.m. PST.

Tidbits

-Reinprecht returned to the lineup after missing Game 3 with a facial injury

-The Wolves were only able to muster 15 shots on goal despite the victory

-The Wolves improve to 6-1 in their last 7 elimination games

3 Stars: 1. CHI, Reinprecht 2. CHI. Lack 3. CHI Mancari

If the Canucks were able to some how trade up the draft.  I would like to see them draft Morgan Rielly.  I wouldn't think his injury last season will be a problem but might make him fall a bit in the draft rankings which could be an easier pick to trade for.  He looks like a very solid skater with a good overall defensive game.  Not too small at 6 feet either. Looks like he could go anywhere inbetween 5th or early teens.

Also being a hometown guy doesn't hurt.
