BOSTON UPDATE

Competition within the roster - In past years we have always been jealous of other teams rosters, and seeing how they changed within their own organization throughout the year. This year we have a couple battles, making daily roster balancing fun and exciting:

For the second line center, Sutter and Stepan have been jostling for position since early October. This week, Stepan made solid moves forward, and was recognized by GM Greensman, being promoted to the 2nd line spot.

For the second line RW, Hansen and Brouwer are in a tussle as we speak... recent performance has proven Hansen a viable offensive threat, so he is now competing for PP minutes and 2nd line rotations... It is no secret that Hansen is a favorite with Boston`s GM, and seems to be improving with each game while exceeding all expectations... Greensman is still confidant that Stafford is his 1st line RW, and that he is the best mix for the Sedins at this time, though he has been clear all along that results will always make room for change.

Defensive note, Greensman has been more than pleased with the performance on David Schlemko this season. Schlemko is a product of the Bruins minors development system, and has exploded on the offensive side after consistant improvements over the past two years, garnering him some PP minutes and more ice time. With Visnovsky out for 4 weeks, Schlemko will be seeing 2nd line minutes with Johnny Boychuk, as Shattenkirk makes the jump to the 1st line pairing with Kevin Bieksa.

IR woes - Now approaching 4 injuries, the Bruins have roster shortages galore. Wolski out for a month + after surgery on a `sports hernia,` Parse our for a while with lower body injury (big concern after his hip surgery last year), and Tyler Kennedy battling concussion syndrome (to return soon hopefully). The insult to injury came with Visnovsky`s broken finger in the dying minutes of last night`s game, sidelining Lubo for 4 weeks.

As a result of roster shortages, Greensman continues to shop Boston`s 1st round pick for a strong roster winger. Although a few exciting offers have been attempted, and have fallen through, Greensman in confidant that the right deal is still out there...
