I think with Bonucci moving to Milan, Serie A will now be back into contention for the best league in the World. The way I see it is that they have two legitimate CL contenders in Juve and Milan. Additionally, I consider Napoli and Roma as teams with the quality to reach the knockout stages of CL and Europa League contenders in Inter and Lazio. It might just be me, but I am content in saying that Serie A is back.

One thing for Leo to leave, another to go to a rival (unless he really wanted that specific move).  Baffles me why Juve would accept that when Chelsea/City were rumoured to have offered 60 million on different occasions (unless of course he didn't want to move abroad).

Leo's son has health issues, which is why he wanted to stay in Italy.

Tidbit, one of Bonnuci's sons is a diehard Torino fan maybe that is why he left Juve...

The way I see it Juve are going to infuse in a mix of youth and experience with their backline. Rugani, Caldara, and they probably have a ton more which is great to see. Very promising futures for both and one of the two should be able to fill the hole left by Bonucci if they can show a level of consistency. Will be interesting where they go from here now

Rugani will step in with ease. 2 years ago he played every minute of the Serie A season at Empoli. He does not have the ball playing ability that Leo has, but nobody in the world does.

lucas biglia signs for AC Milan. god, any other long-time Football Manager players here? used to sign Biglia up all the time way, way, way back in the day. always turned out to be a very good midfielder available for relatively cheap. seems like he's been around for 20 years now

Borussia Dortmund have told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that he will not be allowed to leave the club this summer. The striker had been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga but the German club gave him a deadline before which he had to leave and that deadline has now passed.

The Gabon international, who scored 31 league goals in 32 games last season, had been expected to move to China, the Premier League or Milan in Serie A but he has been told that he will continue his career in Dortmund.

Chelsea were mooted as possible suitors as they seek to replace the departing Diego Costa, though a formal bid was never submitted to Dortmund and their priority is still understood to be Real Madrid’s Álvaro Morata.

The Dortmund CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, said on Sunday that they had given the 28-year-old, who joined Dortmund in 2013, “a few days” to make his mind up and the German magazine Kicker reported on Tuesday that the deadline has now passed.

Aubameyang, incidentally, faced Milan, one of the clubs interested in signing him, in a friendly on Tuesday and scored twice in a 3-1 win. The new Borussia Dortmund coach, Peter Bosz, said before the game regarding Aubameyang’s future: “As long as the transfer window is open there will be rumours. And that will be the situation until the end of August.”

Aubameyang has a contract with Dortmund until 2020.

Report: PSG agree to terms with Neymar, willing to pay €222M release clause

Neymar has agreed to personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain and the French club is willing to pay Barcelona the Brazilian soccer star’s €222 million release clause, according to Marcelo Bechler of Esporte Interativo.

According to reports, Neymar is open to leaving Barcelona after growing uncomfortable in his role behind Lionel Messi and would like to get out from underneath the Argentine’s shadow. PSG’s acquisition of former Barcelona teammate and good friend Daniel Alves is also said to have played a role in Neymar’s willingness to join the French club.

News of the potential world-record transfer began to circulate Monday, and Barcelona were reported to be “very calm” in wake of the rumours, with a spokesperson telling media that “selling Neymar is not something the club would think about.”

“He is one of the most important players we have, we will not consider any offers we receive for him.”

Neymar has been a crucial part of Barcelona’s success since joining the Catalonian giants in 2013 from Brazil’s Portuguesa Santista. The 25-year-old forward has notched 68 goals in 123 appearances alongside Messi and Luis Suarez, comprising the sport’s most dangerous offensive attack.

PSG is coming off a disappointing 2016-17 campaign, missing out on the Ligue 1 title for the first time since 2011-12 and falling victim to arguably the greatest Champions League comeback of all time to, coincidentally, Barcelona in the Round of 16. Neymar played a pivotal role in that stunning victory, scoring a pair of goals in the dying minutes to help seal the 6-5 aggregate win.

Is this happening or not? Neymar Jr to French Giants PSG would be earth shattering in the sporting world...

Props to the Arab shiekhs with the oil money willing to drop 200 million Euros for his release clause and then on top of that 500,000 Euros a week in wages.

This move would put PSG on par with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich and Manchester United as global giants in the sports world.

Neymar’s Transfer to Paris Saint-Germain is 95% Done, Says CatalunyaRadio

PSG consider it practically a done deal, they say.

Paris Saint-Germain consider Neymar’s capture practically a done deal, says CatalunyaRadio, generally seen as a reliable source. The show Club de la Mitjanit say the transfer is “95% done.”

Barcelona will not ask for a euro less than the 222 million release clause, and no players are expected to be part of the deal.

Key to the deal is the fact that Neymar’s father, Neymar, Sr., will earn a hefty commission fee for the transfer. The father, who acts as the star player’s agent, is thought to be in for an even bigger fee than the 40 million he received when the Catalans signed him from his hometown club, Santos FC.

With Neymar’s father rumored to be due a fortune, and perhaps, some additional non-monetary considerations... and PSG rumored to be ready to pay the 222 million... the only person who can stop this is the player himself.

Again according Club de la Mitjanit, FC Barcelona is trying to convince the forward to remain at the Camp Nou, but Neymar has not committed to staying.

Marketing-wise, maybe. But this last season he was not more than a slightly-above-average poacher in the Bundesliga.

it's a fantastic move for marketing, but it's not like west ham is a top flight club or something. i think he'll do well there. he wasn't a bad player in England (that was a few years ago, mind you)
