The Toronto deal is alright. If the leafs get Luongo then they will for sure make the playoffs and we get two first round picks in an incredibly deep draft as well as filling a few holes in our current line-up. Plus we shed off over 3 mill in the Booth trade, and over 2 mill on the Toronto trade.

Checked the stats lately. Franson is tied for 6th in scoring and 5th in +/- for Dmen, 15th for all skaters in +/-. He is having a great season under Carlyle. MacArthur had a slow start to the season but has turned the corner lately, and is also assistant captain. After letting go of Brown who was a good locker room guy they will be reluctant to give up another leader unless it came at a good price. Toronto is also tied with the Canucks in GAA average with the two young goalies they have. So why would they let go of those two players, plus a first round pick for Loungo. Honestly, the way Franson is playing right now, and taking into consideration Lou's contract it could be Lou + Prospect for Franson.

Tell me again how good franson is playing. No matter what anyone says, or how the stats are twisted, Luongo is a top 20 goalie... ALLTIME! Is franson even a top 20 defenceman in the league this season? I wouldn't trade a top 20 alltime goalie for a guy who was a regular healthy scratch for a team that couldn't even make the playoffs last season.

Loungo is far from a top 20 goalie all time. Good goalie who has had some great moments, but not even close to top 20. That being said, with Lou's contract, getting players who can contribute right now will be tough, but getting a 1st round pick in a very good draft year is extremely wishful thinking. With the shortened season this year, other than Chicago no team is a lock to make the playoffs, and with the draft lottery now including all 14 non playoff teams no one will give up a 1st rounder that could possibly be 1st overall at the trade deadline..
