[Trade] Derek Roy to VAN

Recommended Posts

Keep in mind in aquiring Roy gives MG more options for the Luongon trade. He doesn't need tö go after a center now. This can open up a lot of options going in to tomorrow's decesion making. It sucks we lost out on Clowe, but theirs still a lot of big fish avaible. JP, Torres, Ott, Clarkson are all players id welcome with the exception of a few others, but those ones mentioned could really help this team. Make something happen MG have faith everyone. Cheers hopefully wake up going to work with good news.

If Gillis can get Pominville, this will be very similar to L.A's acquisitions of Richards and Carter. They re-united a lot of former team mates and that chemistry ignited in the playoffs to bring them a Cup. They're doing it again now with Regher and Sutter.

Gillis has been pretty good at this too with his duos. He's got the Sedins already, but he re-united Higgins and Lapierre who were instrumental in our Cup run. Re-uniting former Florida defencemen Garrison and Ballard may work for us in the playoffs, and if he can snag Pominville that will be a huge 2nd line for us. We could probably get him for a 1st and a prospect. This depth is sickening to start the playoffs:

Sedin - Sedin - Burrows

Pominville - Roy - Hansen

Raymond - Kesler - Booth

Higgins - Lapierre - Kassian

I'll say it again, other than a depth C/W, forward is not the position MG should be focusing on after acquiring Roy.

We need help on the breakout of the PP badly. If MG can move out Ballard and bring in someone else to carry the puck out he needs to do it even if it requires two trades.

Another scoring forward would be nice but it's not our biggest need.

Not a big time gap from last year to this year. My point is that it is bad asset management by the Dallas GM. Steve Ott could've returned a high end prospect or a decent roster player that was signed for multiple years. Instead they got a low 2nd round pick. So the trade is Ott and Adam Pardy from last year to get this year's 2nd round pick. (Connauton is just a project player who won't amount to anything just like patrick white)

BTW, this Dallas GM is the same genius who traded James Neal and Matt Niskanen for Gologoski lol! Thank god he isn't the Canucks GM.

Quick question about Roy`s playmaking ability... Are we expecting him more or less like a Andrew Cassels or Cliff Ronning type? or he is more creativity or nifty player..

What about guys like Comeau or/and Kobasew.

Colorado is out and doesn't have much to sell but Kobasew is a rental and wouldn't cost much in theory if he was available. Perhaps a nice depth option?

Ditto for Comeau, CGY is a seller as we know, Comeau is a rental and might add some nice depth down the wing.
