LTIR: The New York Rangers place F Thomas Vanek on the LTIR.

LTIR: The New York Rangers place D Sami Salo on the LTIR.

Recall: The New York Rangers recall Carter Ashton from the Whale for tonights game.

Recall: The Rangers have also recalled Robert Bortuzzo.

The youngsters have been recalled to fill the latest two openings on the bench due to injuries. Both players will slot into the 4th line and 4th pairing respectively. Ashton's placement on the LW bumps up all the other LW's one line each, while Bortuzzo's placement allows Philip Larsen to temporarily get a look in Salo's position.

Injuries and Icechips in the Rangers room:

While the Rangers currently have three high profile members of the team on LTIR, there are as many as 6 injured Rangers players. Luckily most will be recovered by weeks end.

Thomas Vanek may be back in the lineup as early as Saturday, or possibly Tuesday, November 19th.

Sami Salo is still day to day, but could be back as soon as Thursday or Saturday.

Viktor Fasth is on a conditioning assignment in the AHL and should be in net tonight for the Ducks affiliate Norfolk Admirals.

Mark Stuart out with an injured hip, appears to be lingering, and I am sure i rushed him off LTIR.

Sheldon Souray is still on LTIR where he started the season after surgery. Expected back in late December or early January.

Cody Bass has recovered from a broken thumb and is playing in the AHL, where he has 1g 1a and 11 plm's in just 4 games. We could see him as a mid season callup sooner than later for the Blue Jackets.

Overall I think I have a tendency to rush players back from LTIR, at least that is what I am taking away from looking at my overall health vs number of players on LTIR currently. Our front office will make some changes to how we re-integrate players back from injuries to ensure this doesn't happen as often as it has.

Some good things lately

we have a Goalie

we have some young guys were we can build on

with the 10 missing points we would be currently 8th in points this week with 73 points

hope my "veterans" , specially my defenders, wil lbe better in the next days and a good weekend

we need a 200+ points week badly ..well some more in the future :P
