Apple Juice
Yeah I like these, keep 'em coming Dib. I've watched a lot of games online the last few years, roughly 50/50 split of home/away feeds, and I've become very interested in how homer-centric each team's commentators can be. Shorty and Garrett aren't bad at all actually. St Louis, Colorado and the New York teams are some of favourites for balance. The worst are New Jersey, Edmonton and Los Angeles. Anyways, these threads are like a fan-version of that, so I enjoy getting a feel for different fanbases. You forgot Boston as one of the worst. Sure Edwards has his moments where he calls out his own team as well but the guy is the most homer-centric anyone can get
Apple Juice
so do we get Jim Hughson Saturday? since the leafs are in town for a 7PM EST start.. i cant wait for that one. my best friend is a leaf fan, and it's been a few years where this matchup will be a serious one. Yes that's what usually happens. Hughson is always saved for the Leafs regardless of start time. Plus Pavel Bure ceremony so obviously CBC sends in the best of the best. Unfortunately for me, I can't watch the game as a postponed concert is scheduled for that night

Now Shorty's more endearing as Rodney Dangerfield, with sidekick Cheech allowing NO RESPECT.
onixx
Good Lord, what kind of fanbase just turns on its star players and thrashes them after they lose but would jump on their bandwagon when they do well? Yeesh.... Ahhhhhh I see what you did there
aeromotacanucks
this: "They have a "Hockey 101" link on their main page for fans who need to learn "what is hockey" and "what are the rules". Also - they are offering ticket packages at $69.00 for 2 tickets!! Vancouver fans can only dream!!" CDC could also do something like "Hockey 101" because many of us didn´t born in a country where hockey is popular, we like the sport and the Canucks but we don´t understand all the rules so we don´t know if we´re complaining properly or not... it could be done on a very simple and very objective way for the new fans packages could be done too. why not? more fans going to the stadium just saying... aeromotacanucks
I think we should do these threads for every game. I really enjoy reading these. You get a lot of crap, but there is some enlightening stuff to read in there. For example, the post about them only scoring off the rush, and never working for a goal. You really gotta give the Canucks credit for scoring goals like this. We're so spoiled, we don't even know it. ...but at the same time, we rarely score off the rush, which is a nice way to do it sometimes. agree. see the other point of view is interesting to know about the Canucks as seen from the other fans
mancaesar
I love this idea. A little perspective goes a long way. The comment about how the Canucks' top line dominates the o-zone while the Caps' top line can only score on the rush is so enlightening. This is why the Sedins are so special. All that cycling down low and time in the offensive zone swings a game's momentum more than scoring a quick goal off an odd man rush. It gets the other team chasing the puck and eats up time. Every minute spent in the o-zone means fewer opportunities for the other team to score against us. How many times have we seen one team score off the rush only to be scored on a few minutes later? It happens all the time when the game opens up like that. But Sedinery is different. The whole game style shifts toward the Canucks and makes it that much harder for the other team to get on track. There's a major trickle down effect that may be less obvious, but it's there. I cannot overstate how blessed we are to have the Sedins.
Jai604
Always entertaining, haha. Good for perspective, too.
The Bookie
You forgot Boston as one of the worst. I might have against the Leafs, but definitely not against the Canucks.
PhillipBlunt
Pretty slim pickings on the Caps boards. Only 7 pages from pre-game to post-game. Of interest They have a "Hockey 101" link on their main page for fans who need to learn "what is hockey" and "what are the rules". Also - they are offering ticket packages at $69.00 for 2 tickets!! Vancouver fans can only dream!! Very few comments on the Nucks players but some rather scathing assessments of their own players. Enjoy Pre-game comments I get the feeling the Caps come out flaccid. 6-1 Nucks. ^^^Ehh heh heh heh, ehh heh heh heh...he said flaccid!! Heh Insert Beavis and Butthead pic here!!! Ovy traditionally does awful against Luongo, has repeatedly said he is the hardest goalie to score on. So a shut down Ovy, means an L (loss) for tonight. We haven't won in Vancouver in 12 years, but we might have a bounce-back game. It depends on how many times Ersk will be out of position and flop around on the ice for no reason Maybe a group therapy session to reveal their true feelings, exorcise their inner demons, and cry on each others shoulders? What about leaving the sanitary napkins in the locker room and wearing real, over-sized man-cups? ^^^^I don't see how this helps at all. Wouldn't that just make them feel more inadequate? Tonight the D is playing pretty well, they're skating decent, but 1 shot from the offense this period.. If they ever do get offense, the D excrements the bed.. Very similar Vancover getting away with late cross check crap to the backs of the Caps players. I don't like it Thought they played solid two way hockey in the 1st. However, Alzners 70's style porn star mustache is creepy OMG, what a lame call on Wilson, that Canuck fell over like a duck and sold that call. What is this, have we all of a sudden become a conservative team now that we are tied, geeze, can we get a little better forecheck rather then 2 shots and out? Kesler’s goal Neuvy has to hold that! Too soft What a bunch of lazy asses on the first line to give up an easy goal. Neuvy with 2 soft goals tonight but the first line just standing around flat footed. ;Does Ovy feel he doesn't have to do anything on d ;If Green and Carlson are not the two laziest skaters on the face of this earth, I don't know who are. Flipping and flopping like dolphins at Seaworld The first line sucks when they have to play D. Then Carlson doesn't clear the zone. Stupid hockey WTF is Neuvy doing letting him stand there like that? ******* chop that ***** down. Bullexcrement On Daniel's Goal I agree neuvy is playing like a bumb today, but that last goal shows you why our top line isn't a playoff performing top line. That was complete domination and no physicality at all Nice play Oleksy. We can't ******* play simple hockey. Instead we try to battle skills with Vancouver. Stupid is as stupid does Man, to have a top line that could dominate the zone like that.. Only time our top line scores is on a break or transition. They rarely "work" for a goal in o zone.. It happen in 5-10 seconds or it doesn't happen Balance of game No discipline + no heart = no winning. Same old Caps. Our idiot gm put this pack of losers together... If you don't remove the head of the disaster, then crap is what we will get Now they will go home, get mommy to take care of them and cook them diner (yeah, I'm talking about Ovie) and go right back to thinking that skill alone (what we have) is good enough to win the Stanley Cup Another in a series of pathetic performances. I stayed up for this??? Gotta stop believing this team will ever get it's act together. Must be an addiction or masochism. Good nite all! I appreciate the thread from other teams fans. It gives us Canucks fans some perspective. Well done DIB.
Tangerines
Really enjoying the PGT from the other teams thread lately. It give Canucks fans another perspective on what other fans are feeling about their own teams. Like reading what is being said by other fans, good and bad. Also gives you a barametor of what kind of fan base they are, how they measure up to canucks fans, and how much they know about the game. Good insight! Sure Edwards has his moments where he calls out his own team as well but the guy is the most homer-centric anyone can get I don't really see it as 'calling out his own team', I see it more as him simply exercising the ballbuster that dwells within.
