[OFFICIAL] Canucks Injury Thread

Just saw that Kuzma posted this today:

Ben Kuzma@benkuzma 50m

Gillis on Daniel Sedin: "I'm not going to talk about a potential injury with a player who's playing. I think Danny is pressing a lot."

Expand

It's pretty weird for Gillis to talk about "a potential injury" when replying to a question about how Daniel is playing.

Anybody have anything re: Daniel possibly nursing an injury?

It's been speculated off and on and it's going around the Twitterverse a fair amount today (some example tweets inside spoiler):

Shane M@SocialAssassin2

10m

His answer about Daniel Sedin's slump was bizarre. Gillis almost made it sound like he is playing through an injury.

James@Canucks_news 11m

@SocialAssassin2 Danny was getting medical treatment after Boston game

SHAP DADDY@SHAP4LIFE 5m

@SocialAssassin2 he referred to team dr having to clear "them" for Olympics

Sam@sstanley84 11m

@SocialAssassin2 Didn't hear the intvw, but odd to say "not gonna talk about playing thru injury", if he wasn't specifically asked about 22.

Shane M@SocialAssassin2

@SHAP4LIFE Yea, but they asked him specifically about Daniel + Gillis said he doesn't talk abt players playing who could b hurt or some crap

Only a week ago, Dimitri Filipovic over at Canucks Army posted this:

Generally speaking, if those guys suggest they have a good source on something, it's usually safe to assume the info is legit.

So did Danny pick-up an injury during the Boston game? Something pretty minor?

Or has he been nursing something for a while and they've been keeping it under wraps?

It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Daniel now that Henrik's officially pulled out for Sochi.

If Daniel is also injured, and the Canucks have been hiding it until now, they might need to go public about any injury to Daniel so that Team Sweden has the option to legally add a replacement player under IOC/IIHF rules (as per Elvis's post here: http://forum.canucks...0#entry11955887), if Daniel decides to also skip the Olympics.

Who is Shane M? I also thought it weird how he responded to the question. Left speculation in my mind.

Diaz weber hamhuis edler garrison stanton corrado healthy at moment.

Ten days to heal, Tanev should be back maybe alberts, Bieska is only question mark.

Only question once. All healed up thats 10 healthy defense men Who do u think is odd man out when healed. Big trade edler or tanev? For a top six f or a small trade or two alberts and weber?

Corrado is already in Utica and will likely stay there this season.

I'm thinking Weber will be sent down when everyone is healthy. He's the most likely to clear waivers like he did last time.

Deniro how do you know hes for sure staying down there this yr. and even with corrado send down we have 9 d One or two will be gone via a trade when we are healthy Diaz was brought in for his mobilty and puck movement. Alberts isnt trusted by torts and i can see. A big trade for too six or minor trade with maybe weber because corrado has shown he can play as a bottom 6 dman id rather go young. Get a few draft pucks for teams needing defense. Oilers, islanders, sabres could use sone more defense regardless

It just makes the most sense to keep Corrado down. It maximizes our depth because we wouldn't have to trade anyone.

He'll get his chance next season unless there's more injuries or a trade or two.

Y. Weber back on ice with #Canucks. Henrik & Bieksa practicing for 2nd straight day. Burrows & Tanev still not with group

#Canucks Burrows & Tanev have matching protective devices on their thumbs. Burrows on left hand. Tanev on right

#Canucks Weber says was injured vs CHI. Tried to play in WPG & couldn't. Was worried wouldn't get clearance for Sochi. But ultimately did

#Canucks Torts: 'I don't think Tanev will be ready to practice on Monday.'

#Canucks Torts on Alberts battle with Dec 30 concussion: 'Still a ways away. He's still having problems in his day to day stuff.'

Vancouver Canucks@VanCanucks

Practice underway at Rogers Arena this morning. Weber has returned from Sochi. No Burrows or Tanev on the ice.

Torts hopes to have all #Canucks return from Sochi on Tuesday. Full skate planned for the team.

“Bieksa was sore, I kicked him off the ice. He wanted to stay. We want him to be healthy for Wednesday.” - Torts

“We will bring players up from Utica for Tuesday. No number and not yet sure who.” - Torts

Vancouver Canucks@VanCanucks

Bieksa, Henrik, Tanev & Burrows not on the ice for #Canucks this morning. Diaz has returned from #Sochi2014.

Dan Murphy@sportsnetmurph

Bieksa and Henrik had been skating with main group of #Canucks. Not today. Tanev and Burrows were on the ice earlier.

Gillis had mentioned in his Team 1040 interview this morning they'd hope to see Burrows with the main group otherwise they'd have to consider if he's ready to play on Wednesday. Tanev still seems like a close but not quite, and Bieksa and Henrik might be close but just resting a bit for today's skate.

EDIT:

Ann Schmaltz@annschmaltz

Bieksa has been spotted doing dry land training. #Canucks

Ben Kuzma@benkuzma

Bieksa still limping slightly, doing off-ice drills with skills coach Carnegie.

So not completely a rest day, perhaps some focused training versus anything pointing to a setback or anything.

Still a few injuries from the sounds of it, with Lain the only reported call up at this point:

Vancouver Canucks@VanCanucks

#Canucks have recalled forward Kellan Lain from the AHL Utica Comets.

Dan Murphy@sportsnetmurph

Torts not sure if Kelser has a hand/finger injury from Olys but training staff is going to give him all the tests in next 2 days. #Canucks

Ben Kuzma@benkuzma

Kesler having MRI today. Injured right hand blocking Kovalchuk shot in second period of U.S.- Russia game in Sochi on Feb. 15. #Canucks

Torts: Henrik Sedin taking another personal day Tuesday, may play Wednesday against Blues. #Canucks

Ann Schmaltz@annschmaltz

Chris Tanev is doubtful for the game Wednesday. #Canucks

FML guess this year we can chalk up to injuries....Think we are a playoff team if healthy and a bubble team with the amount of injuries.

Say we ride out this year with what we have and see where we end up....no need for additions unless its helps the team long term. Great opportunity in the summer with the cap going up and young player developing further.
