Canada Hockey Place
I don't understand how you can not give Henrik the benefit of the doubt. He played 679 games consecutive games until the Hanzal hit. Presumably played through some injuries during that span. Why would anybody doubt him if he says he's ready to go? Would you question Trevor Linden for doing the same thing? Would you question the coach for playing Linden? No. That's what made Linden a fan favourite. Yes he needs to rest. But the team needs wins. Just because in some people's minds the season is over doesn't mean the team is going to give up yet.
CrippledCanuck
He has been benched for the remaining two games before the Olympic break as per nhl.com http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=25942&navid=nhl:topheads
DarthNinja
I doubt Torts could force Henrik to play against his will. “We are shutting Henrik down for the next two games,” Tortorella told reporters on Thursday. “He wants to play, but he’s not as effective as we need him to be right now.” Torts How criminally stupid of Torts! *Buzzsaw*
So Tortorella, having made a stupid decision to allow Henrik to play... and discovered, that no, he can't be effective... and in the meantime likely making the injury worse, is now backpedaling. Surprise? No. This guy's lack of judgement has been apparent for quite a while... in fact from before he was hired. Which makes the whole signing of him by Gillis even more questionable. Tortorella should be gone ASAP if the future of this team is not to be squandered with more stupid coaching decisions.

Torts overrode the medical staff this time, which isnt common at all. I think YOU need to be gone asap to save us from some more stupid posting decisions

oldnews
That's really unfortunate for the next few games, but moreso for Henrik, and for Team Sweden. What a crappy twist of fate. I hope he raises the Cup as compensation. He's earned every measure of success he achieves.

I really hope you listened to Hank's interview between the 2nd and 3rd today on The Team 1040 so you can realize just how ridiculous you sound. And I'm really trying to be nice about this. It's pretty clear that not only did he do everything to play, he wanted to play to help the team. He did not make his injury worse at all...and oh yeah, seems pretty clear that he really likes Torts. He also said he is having so much fun playing big minutes and killing penalties, felt as good as ever playing this year until his injury - they produced at a point per game the first 25-30 games but then fell off and they need to be better and get back on their game offensively, especially on the PP. Best line: Tomlinson: Has he (Torts) yelled at you in the room? Hank: absolutely (chuckle). Yeah, let's get rid if a Stanley Cup winning, Calder Cup winning and Jack Adams winning coach ASAP after a bad month and injury decimation to some of the team's top players that came after an outstanding, nearly franchise record-breaking month.
