poetica
luongo wasnt even the starter last 2 years haha You mean in the playoffs? Because Luo was absolutely the starter in the 11/12 regular season. (He played 55 games compared to Schneider's 33.) That year Luo played 2 playoff games whereas Schneider played 3. While Schneider was the starter the following regular (shortened) season, in the playoffs Luo actually ended up playing more, starting 2 and playing most of a period of a 3rd game after Schneider was pulled in the first of his only 2 starts. Grapefruits
I have heard way more gushing over Lui because of his shutout than i have heard talk about Price. Haven't heard anything negative about him other than on CDC where all the conspiracy theory specialists hang out. This. I also don't get why people get so bent out of shape by the media, or why they care so much about what media says. Media has it's own agenda and that isn't gonna change. I almost feel that this thread needs a 'Leave Luongo alone!" youtube video.

Papayas
Some of us may blame the media for creating those goalie controversies a year ago, but holy crap some of the fans in Vancouver are really addict to that. How the fack could you guys manage to create a goalie controversies in an Olympic game? Let's just watch the game and cheer for the country, instead of trying to debate which goalie was a choker shall we?

How the fack could you guys manage to create a goalie controversies in an Olympic game? Let's just watch the game and cheer for the country, instead of trying to debate which goalie was a choker shall we? it's because the people around here are borderline insane and paranoid. many people here genuinely feel like there is LITERALLY a league-wide conspiracy being held against this team and and its individual players. now Price is starting, not because he's a talented, young goalie, but because the professionals who run Hockey Canada sleep when the Canucks are playing and don't know how great Luongo is. instead, they are buying into the hype that CBC and TSN have created behind Price. this is actually how people on here think lmao
DarthNinja
They both have looked good and both have made some minor mistakes as well. For Price, that resulted in a goal against. Lu fared better by blanking the opposition. I have heard LU getting his share of praise. But that still does not change the fact that CBC panels are like 99.9% anti-Canuck trolls. I'm surprised that Lu doesn't get to run with it from here. The main difference I saw was that Lu looked extremely confident and he played more aggressive and the team seemed to feed off that. Still a tough choice none the less. A good problem to have I suppose!

LuongovsTuuka
Babcock will have the last say and he will play the better goalie. If he plays Price, then I believe he's right. I find Canuck "homer" announcers just as annoying as those for Toronto based broadcasts. As long as Canada gets the gold, who cares which goalie is in net? Price and Luongo are both solid goaltenders.

I think if you have two goalies that have both shown they give you a chance to win and neither has outshone the other that you go with the one that has the most international and playoff experience. Do you guys work in the NHL? Nope. winner's opinion? the last time he won something was 4 years ago.. and since then he did absolutely nothing.. if anything Quineville prolly shoulda been the head coach... another thing, if the goalie decision is long made up.. then they might as well tell them in advance.. coz as it stands right now.. there's no way you can win the job as good/hard as you play.. the only way is if the other goalie shyts the bed.. and in the olympic where it's 1 game elimination.. i take Luongo over Price only based on the 1 game they each played.. it's not that Luongo out performed Price.. really they were both some what weak opponent.. it's the mistake Luongo didn't make that didn't cost them a goal where price did.. and that 1 goal could have us packing our bags and going home early say vs a team like switzerland.. they won 1-0 1-0.. and lost 0-1.. 1 mistake is all it takes
Absent Canuck
Toews thinks Luongo is the best goalie in the league. He isn't , but in my opinion he is clearly the best Canada has. I dont understand Babcocks choice but I suspect Cary will be on a short leash.
We Are All Cynics
Toews thinks Luongo is the best goalie in the league. He's biased but right. I mean Lu was Boston's MVP in 2011 and even helped Chicago to a Cup. I kid. Time to see what Price can do. He's faced the same sort of adversity in Montreal as Lu has here.
