Canucks trade Hansen and 4th to Tampa Bay for Brett Connolly.

Before you say it's a overpayment or a underpayment, remember that Nederreider for Clutterback deal?

Hansen is better than Clutterback IMO. Connolly is unproven but he put up good numbers in the AHL so this is a good deal for both teams and we gain another 6th overall pick from BC.

My personal thoughts are unless a big trade is made Hansen is here until training camp. If he is beat out for 3rd line duties and there is no room on the 4th line. He may get moved.

If we are going to deal Hansen I would rather get a 3rd/4th round pick in next year's draft back instead of a former 1st round pick who looks like bust material.

Take into account that Stevie Y is no Garth Snow, he actually knows how to make deals. It was dumb for Garth to sell Nino low instead of giving him more opportunities to develop, and now he's got Cal instead of a blooming scoring forward. Unless Brett really is busting, I find it tough to believe that Steve would bite, plus hopefully Brett does pan out after (if) we get him.

Lightning can afford to be patient with Connolly, they have him signed to a two way contract so its not like they are likely to lose him on waivers.

The point is that Snow is desperate, while Steve Yzerman isn't. Tampa isn't under the kind of pressure that the Islanders are in, they have no reason to make such an uneven deal.

Its possible but I think Tampa will give him to opportunity to sink or swim rather than trade him for a 3rd liner which they don't really need.

Tampa is going to push for the cup the next two years, they have to do well in hopes of keeping Stamkos around. If Hansen is an upgrade to the starting roster NOW. (and imho I think he is a better option for L4 RW) plus he would help with the PK. I see them making a deal around this basis. A stanley cup champion needs those workhorses and Hansen is a lot faster than a morrow or a Boyle.
