Rey
Visnovsky - Hamonic Leddy - Boychuk Hickey - De Haan Donovan Strait That's pretty damn solid in a matter of minutes. With Tavares, Okposo, Grabner, Nielsen, Strome, Bailey, Cizikas, Grabovski, Conacher, Clutterbuck and Lee up front, and Halak in net, NYI is getting close. All they need is time for their young core guys to mature and they could be a contender. Reinhart is still up. He could rotate with Hickey and Visnovsky. Guest Dasein
Reinhart is still up. He could rotate with Hickey and Visnovsky. No chance IMO. I think the Isles are done rushing blue chip prospects and will send him down to the AHL to play top minutes there rather than stick in the NHL in a limited role. TheSnipeshow91
Islanders have no picks in 3 rounds of the deepest draft in 10 years. Not to mention they don't have a 2016 2nd. Snow makes Gillis look good.

It doesn't matter. Look at their prospect pool. They are setting those guys for success, and they are willing to do it without sitting on picks. This is exactly what Edmonton should be doing. Improving their teams, and not hoping for a prospect come up and be a savior.

They are setting those guys for success, and they are willing to do it without sitting on picks. This is exactly what Edmonton should be doing. Exactly. Teams like NYI and EDM don't need more prospects and draft picks - they need veterans to help their young core start winning now. Snow stocked up on prospects and now he's trading the fringe ones for veteran roster players. And hell Leddy's only 23 - it's not like he traded away the future - Leddy is the future. I think he's a little overrated, but he'll be a good serviceable NHLer for at least a decade.

Still, despite those acquisitions that D still has holes in it. Pulock and Reinhart will get some NHL experience. They will be really important if Boychuk leaves in the off season and Vis will be 39. Rey
Islanders did good on this trade, but the Boychuk trade was brutal. Hansen for Pedan anyone If you think about it. They traded Macdanald for a 2nd and a 3rd. Boychuk is a hell lot better. Considering Macdonald was going to go, that's great asset management. Boychuk trade is much safer. Sure, they gave away the picks but they got a more reliable player, who is tough. He's easily, top 4. If they extend him, it'll be great. If they miss the playoffs, they'll get picks back. Nick Leddy was sheltered in Chicago, he's a more riskier acquisition but all they had to do was trade Pokka and crap. Leddy is still a great skater and young, so it makes up for it. Coming into the season - Hamonic was the only safe top 4. De Haan too, if he can stay healthy. Hickey is a 3rd pair, and Vis is 38 years old. Leddy and Boychuk easily make this team so much better. Don't forget, they have Halak now too. Much better back end.
zombieksa
If you combine both trades it looks fairly decent considering these two trades may have just pushed them up 2-3 places in the standings. The Metro division is ripe for the pickings.
