Pears
Wow. Snow just turned a below average defence into a very solid defence. Leddy - Hamonic Reinhart - Boychuk de Haan - Visnovsky That's a solid defence in front of a very solid goalie.
Phil_314
Lee - Tavares - Okposo Nelson - Grabo - Kulemin Bailey - Nielsen - Grabner Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck Visnovsky - Hamonic Leddy - Boychuk de Haan/ Hickey - Carkner Halak Pretty deep lineup if Okposo and Halak keep performing. Also, they would be solid if they could get another physical guy on the 3rd line, since as of now it's looking kind of thin IMO (yes Clutterbuck can play on there too but Bailey's probably the better option still). Guest Dasein
Win now mode. lol Build a winning culture now mode* John Tavares - 24 (1C) Ryan Strome - 21 (2C) Casey Cizikas - 23 (4C/LW) Josh Ho-Sang - 18 (C prospect) Michael Dal Colle - 18 (LW prospect) Josh Bailey - 25 (3LW) Kyle Okposo - 26 (1RW) Michael Grabner - 27 (2RW) Cal Clutterbuck - 26 (3/4RW) Sebastian Collberg - 20 (RW prospect) Travis Hamonic - 24 (RHD) Ryan Pulock - 19 (RHD prospect) Griffin Reinhart - 20 (LHD prospect) Nick Leddy - 23 (LHD) Calvin De Haan - 23 (LHD) Adam Pelech - 20 (LHD prospect) Michael Grabner being the oldest on this list at age 27... That's a young core that needs to build a winning culture and will only get better as some of the younger prospects like Dal Colle, Ho-Sang, Reinhart, Pulock, Pelech, etc will mature and be ready to contribute in a few years time. The only thing they are missing is a grade A goaltending prospect.
DeNiro
The Islanders have been building for the last decade. Just because you get a bunch of flashy young players, doesn't mean you're going anywhere. Still need the right chemistry, coaching, and leadership to make some noise. That being said, I like the Islanders. I think they're an exciting team, and I'd love to see them go up against a team like Pittsburgh or Boston in the playoffs, and see what they can do. I see our draft stock is rising.
Nuxfanabroad
Hope NYI makes the PO's. Buff has enough young treasure, already.
Nuxfanabroad
Visnovsky - Hamonic Leddy - Boychuk Hickey - De Haan Donovan Strait That's pretty damn solid in a matter of minutes. With Tavares, Okposo, Grabner, Nielsen, Strome, Bailey, Cizikas, Grabovski, Conacher, Clutterbuck and Lee up front, and Halak in net, NYI is getting close. All they need is time for their young core guys to mature and they could be a contender. & capgeek has them sitting with 6.5 million available, should they be inspired. Malkin Cookies
Two NHL defensemen added and no one off their roster in return. And the Islanders have a ton of prospects, including: Reinhart, Pulock, Dal Colle, Ho Sang, Strome, de Haan, Collberg and Lee They will not miss the picks, and probably wont miss Pokka

And the Islanders have a ton of prospects, including: Reinhart, Pulock, Dal Colle, Ho Sang, Strome, de Haan, Collberg and Lee They will not miss the picks, and probably wont miss Pokka The Islanders were in a good spot, they were stocked with prospects and could afford to give up those picks and young guys for immediate help. It's a win for Snow. All things considered it's a good trade for Chicago too. Leddy wasn't going to be more than a 3rd pairing defenseman there and he'll be seeking at least $4 million next summer. New York can pay that and Chicago can't with Saad and Kruger beig RFAs next summer. Leddy will do will in New York.

Leddy makes them better, adding Boychuk as well makes them much better. One of the best groups of blue chip prospects not in the league right now, with one of the best young cores in the league. Adding solid leadership on the blueline with snarl in Boychuk with Leddy who can absolutely shine in the east; both with experience doing nothing but winning. Snow is doing all the right things to avoid giving Buffalo a top 10 pick next draft. Think, all the Isles have to do is beat the southeast and Toronto/Ottawa and they're in the playoffs. oldnews
I don't like the deal. I like the Isles, and would not have given up Pokka for Leddy. I don't care for the Hawks, and am disappointed that they've managed to move a sheltered defenseman and imo over-rated young defenseman that didn't really fit, in more ways than one, for that return. DownUndaCanuck
Pretty fair deal I guess but Brennan could really light it up with Chicago if he gets given the chance. Suddenly the Islanders have a solid, experienced defence - the one thing they were really missing last season. You combine a couple of Cup winners with their stars up front and Halak and suddenly you have a playoff-worthy team.
Russ
Islanders have no picks in 3 rounds of the deepest draft in 10 years. Not to mention they don't have a 2016 2nd. Snow makes Gillis look good. When you have been as bad as they have for the last 10 years, you got a pretty good pool of prospects already probably.
aqua59
Arthur Staple @StapeNewsday 49s49 seconds ago Official: #Isles acquire D Nick Leddy from CHI for D Ville Pokka, D T.J. Brennan and G Anders Nilsson. ----------------------- Snow went all in, pretty good deal though actually. Islanders have their 2 goalies in Halak and Johnson, Brennan is an AHLer who scores in the AHL. Pokka is a prospect with top 6 potential but Leddy is already a young top 4 defenceman. de Haan - Hamonic Leddy - Boychuk Reinhart - Carkner Visnovsky (injured at the time). Hickey Ya and in Chicago they have Barker instead of Leddy now. That's digression.
Absent Canuck
Garth Snow haters where they at!? I am here. I think the clown should have been fired for the Nino trade let alone the insane Vanek trade. However, this almost makes up for it.

skolozsy2
Ya and in Chicago they have Barker instead of Leddy now. That's digression. Hawks dont have Barker, they cut him a few days ago. They'll be going with Rundblad and Roszival as their 3rd unit.
