avelanch
Hope he doesn't pull a Justin Shultz on the Nucks. hutton went right into university after the draft, he's not eligible to pull a shultz. he's going to have to wait until August 15th if he wants to go UFA, about a month and a half after the feeding frenzy of free agency, which lowers the incentive significantly. He's going to sign a cheap ELC contract anyway that most teams can afford so why wouldn't he wait? He's been living on the east coast for the last few years so maybe he will want to stick around there
avelanch
with our lack of defensive depth, i doubt he sees a better opportunity worth his time/risk of going UFA. it could end up biting him in the ass, plus the canucks have been developing their relationship with him, and helping him develop his game, telling him what to work on, etc. plus you have the stigma of being a diva when you pull that stuff. there's a big reason the vast majority of ncaa players don't pull this stuff, it's usually not worth the risk. He will follow the same set of rules as any other prospect; why don't people suspect our CHL prospects of holding out for UFA status? hutton went right into university after the draft, he's not eligible to pull a shultz. he's going to have to wait until August 15th if he wants to go UFA, about a month and a half after the feeding frenzy of free agency, which lowers the incentive significantly. I don't have the patience to try to explain it anymore lol Edited November 13, 2014 by wshdrvvn

College players abuse the system such that they can pick whatever team they want.
wshdrvvn
Don't CHL players have to go back in the draft? At which point they have no control over where they end up. College players abuse the system such that they can pick whatever team they want. Not all players, as there are age restrictions for re-entry. CHL players can only re-enter the draft 2 years after their draft year where as college players have to wait 3-4 years (depending on what league they were playing in in their draft year) before exhaunsting their club's signing period and going to FA. So, CHL players have the ability to force a change to their NHL affiliation too; and much sooner than a college player. I recognize that not many opt to re-enter the draft but on the same token, not that many college players decide to opt for FA. It shouldn't be such a concern for people IMO. And by the way, if a CHL player stays with their NHL club for the 3 year signing period after the draft without signing, they would be ineligible to re-enter the draft and would become UFA just like a college player. What makes the whole thing difficult is the fact that CHL players can sign there ELC and continue playing junior. A college player has to cut ties with the NCAA as soon as they sign a contract. A junior player can be locked down by their draft team while a college player has to be left unsigned to allow them to continue playing college hockey. elvis15
Unless I'm misreading it, it looks like the Maine/UMass-Lowell game on December 6th is being televised on TSN2 (5PM start). It'll be nice to get a chance to watch Hutton through a full game.
NexusRift
Canuck draft pick Prab Rai's cousin Justin is going to be playing for Maine next year Whatever happened to Prab Rai? And his cousin Justin. Is he anything worth mentioning in this thread? I'm guessing Prab is out of the NHL picture, but what of this cousin Justin?!?!!?? avelanch
Prab is currently playing with the Stockton Thunder Evansville Icemen in the ECHL. as far as justin, he's currently above a PPG pace in the BCHL, and leading his team. 7th in the BCHL (his team is 3rd in the league, and top of their division). so there is something there to watch. then again, he's 20 right now... and JUST getting to the NCAA next year.... so he should probably be doing better given that he's so much older than the competition. edit: looks like there are a bunch of 20 year olds in the BCHL.... i thought they were mainly younger kids who are forgoing the whl to enter the ncaa... In addition to good prospects looking for NCAA scholarships, the BCHL has other players most of whom are not good enough for major junior. Yea because Tyson Jost and Dante Fabbro are garbage and the BCHL isn't a stepping stone to major junior........Also the BCHL is where most Major junior players go when they don't get enough playing time, or if they want a scholarship Edited November 27, 2014 by Gstank29

Gotta draft these kids in the 2016 NHL Draft, probably going in the top 15 both of them but wow they have so much talent. Fabbro so similar to Weber and Jost has sick hands, great hockey IQ and an unreal snipe.

Plum
Fabbro is a Offensive defenceman isn't he? I guess he is with the shot and skating he has but I like his defence game alot. He blocks shots, always keeping players to the outside and hitting. Alot of potential there.
