We were the best and we knew it. How far the mighty have fallen. It's pretty amusing that now in the face of disaster our team is borderline obsessed with employing 'character' players. ruilin96 Posted December 3, 2016 Share Posted December 3, 2016 That year was the peak of the Sedins + Burrows + Kesler + Edler + Bieksa + Salo + Luongo era. We had so much talent to through bottom of the line up and we have the offence, the defence and the goaltending to bring this Stanley Cup home but we were one game short of making history. Because of the dominance display of that year, GMMG refuse to move on from this core and give out way too many NTC to try and keep the same team together and hope for another magical run. What we should of done since that year was to re-evaluate the team, trade away 1 or 2 veterans for some young NHL ready players + picks and start a semi-rebuild (Chicago Blackhawk style) and we would of still been a contender by now. Honestly, a large number of those fans at the time hopped on the wagon during the run and left soon after. Old school Canucks fans were all cautiously optimistic during that run.
