He either represents a decent depth scorer where we move him (for more than mid round picks). Or he proves a better option than Baer for the near future and we move Baer instead. Neither should be in our long term plans IMO.

...or we trade Erikkson for Neimi or a bag of pucks....

Reasons to sign Rodin:

- Provide healthy competition

- Potential first line option

- Future trade bait

Reasons not to sign Rodin:

- Likely to get re-injured

- Soft player

- Would rather trade for Eberle :bigblush:

...not the least bit soft...the injury issues who knows?

Really? So he can take big hits and throw his weight around? He can win puck battles against doughty and burns? He is willing to fight kesler and lucic?

Exactly.  This guy is 27.  He could have (with his obvious skill level) competed for - and likely earned - a higher paying NHL contract years ago.  He took the easy road, and played in the softer Euro leagues.

not being a fighter doesn't make someone soft. He doesn't float around he goes in and battles for the puck. Eberle is soft.

Rodin looked like a legit top 6 fought for the puck didn't float around. If healthy id love to give him a shot.

Yes, I agree with a one year contract.  If he proves himself we might get something for him at the 2018 TDL.  Definitely NO to Eberle.

Why is this a crock of &$@#?  He chose the easier route, and played for a lot less money.  Why?

could be lots of reasons. close to home for one. Maybe to hone his skills knowing that he might end up being a better player playing overseas getting top line minutes. seemed to work IMO since he looked legit when he played this year.

Kesler isn't willing to fight anyone...he got dropped by Max Domi but he didn't want to fight...he just got dropped.

Rodin is not a fighter....if that is what you want you better go back in time to the 80's or so...

Rodin has more of a chance of winning puck battles against anyone than the whole damn team except maybe Horvat on a good day.

Rodin throws too many hits for size...but yes he does hit.

Agree on no Eberle. Disagree on flipping Rodin if he excels isn't that exactly the ki9nd of player we need? I don't understand why people say let's develop a guy into a stud and then trade him for someone who may or may not even make the NHL.

They are both soft.  Don't want either.

Atleast rodin is a low risk cheap contract compared too eberle.

Eberle if moved will find success.

Rodin if healthy should fill a top 9 spot next year for us. Hope we offer him a contract

There aren't enough roster spots to keep all the players as prospects start to earn jobs.

Guys like Rodin and even likely Baer will not be part of the next core. Granlund has a fighting chance as a good depth/2 way guy (and if I recall youngest of the three) but eventually most, if not all will be replaced and hopefully moved for other assets.
