Do they get bumped down after 1 claim? Popular Post Nail Posted December 26, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted December 26, 2020 2029 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 3 Vladimir Demjanov (RD/LD) A playmaking defenceman who has played the last 1.5 seasons in the KHL for Lokomotiv, Demjanov has strong defensive instincts and is currently being relied upon as one of Russia's top defenceman at the current ongoing World Juniors. This season in 41 games, Demjanov has 1 goal and 9 points, but is averaging over a block per game and has a positive TA/GA ratio. There are some scouts that believe Demjanov's skating is not good enough on European ice, but this can be masked a bit if and when he does come over to North America. Vincent Fofana (C) A reliable two-way forward currently in his second season with the Val d'Or Foreurs in the QMJHL, Fofano has 18 goals and 31 points through 36 games so far this year. Fofana is a very good defender, he is capable of defending against NHL talent as things stand right now. He is a good skater, but there are questions as to what his offensive potential may be in the future. He is not particularly good at faceoffs, and as things stand right now, Fofana doesn't have the adaptability to play on the wing at all. A player with no flaws, but maybe a lower offensive ceiling? Josh McMaster (LD/RD) Playing against inferior competition in the SJHL, McMaster turned heads last season while putting up a 40 goal season as a defenceman for the Melville Millionaires. This season, McMaster may not be putting up the same goal totals, but he still has 20 goals and 38 points through the first 32 games of the year. McMaster's best strengths are his skating abilities. He can use his wheels to get himself out of the defensive zone and into the offensive zone fast, and has very good offensive instincts when both passing and shooting. His defensive game is spotty, and may need time to develop Jan-Mikael Jaaskelainen (C) A relatively unknown Finnish playmaking prospect, who not many scouts know much about. Jaaskelainen has spent the majority of this season playing for a 2nd tier junior team in Finland, and has only recently been called up to the JYP A-Jrs team. In 4 games with his new team, Jaaskelainen has 1 goal and 3 assists. Perhaps a better indicator is the fact that Jaaskelainen has been the #1 centerman for Finland at this years World Juniors. Jaaskelainen is an offensive center who has some troubles in his defensive zone, but these worries may diminish over time. Wells Taylor (G) The current top ranked goalie prospect for this years draft, Taylor is currently playing high school hockey in Minnesota for the Benilde-St. Margaret's. While playing against inferior competition this season, it is likely Taylor will be thrown directly into the AHL next season after he is drafted, if he is unable to secure an NCAA commitment.
